Aw yeah, gonna be buying this. Also: in before someone complains he's too big/small/red/G1ish.

Old school, please meet New School. You two are going to get along just fine.

Animated, you sit down and shut that mouth of yours. Don't make me bring up Jetfire/Jetstorm and embarrass you in front of the rest of the class.

I share an immense love for this toy as well.

Block-bots FTW.

Y'know the one thing I don't like? Hasbro's continuing obsession with guns mounted on the bottom of arms. I do wish they'd stop it.

Oh yeah. That was the worst thing about Classics Megatron IMO.

Still a great figure though.
Re: More images of Universe Inferno. (805761)
Posted by Sledge on October 7th, 2008 @ 11:00am CDT
Oh yeah, not arguing that. Just I know that I'll buy Inferno, get the hang of transforming him, then within a day I'll be taking the gun off to try and either mount it on the side of his arm or make it work as a handheld weapon. *sigh* A transfans work is never done.
Re: More images of Universe Inferno. (805763)
Posted by Dead Metal on October 7th, 2008 @ 11:01am CDT
Strange I thought I posted this already :???:
I don't think it's on the bottom of the arm, it looks more like it's on the outer side.
Re: More images of Universe Inferno. (805765)
Posted by Sledge on October 7th, 2008 @ 11:03am CDT
Nah, the arm's been rotated so it looks like the gun's on the side. The elbow in that position would bend inwards.
Re: More images of Universe Inferno. (805775)

You're right.
Damn bloody "I have him first" people, never transform the things correctly.
Re: More images of Universe Inferno. (805779)
Posted by Sledge on October 7th, 2008 @ 11:11am CDT
Probably posed him like that to look better. A lot of people do that with Universe Onslaught for the same reason: stupid underarm guns.

I like him alot, I hope that if hasbro make anymore new voyagers they're as good as he is.

Well, I just won one from Singapore so I'm expecting to get it in the next 2 weeks. When I do, I'll post pics with focus on that disconcerting right arm cannon and with the Ironhide, Sideswipe and Silverstreak I got last week plus whoever else I get before that  .

I can't wait for him!

I'm also anticipating the inevitable Grapple.

Somehow I'll need to get a ladder on him. :-?

Beautiful, love the look.

This mold has my permission to be repainted over and over again!
Grapple, Hotspot, Hosehead, bring it on.

There's no winning, if they just simply repainted the G1 Inferno mold yet another time people would be whimpering about that, too (like they are currently with 25th Anniversary Prime)

I actually like this mold a lot, very nice blend of old and new.

I think he looks amazing, I'll definately be getting him! The Universe/ Classics line is by far my favourite nowadays! Got ACIDSTORM today!

I got my Acid Storm a few days ago, I absolutely love him. Still can't find a Fracture and it's really bugging me (Yeah, I used to mark out for Go-bots as well)

Dang, that's nice figure. I'm blown away. That makes Animated look like crap, and I like Animated!

Also, is he an Ultra class figure?

No, he is a Voyager.

Re: More images of Universe Inferno. (806018)
Posted by Malikon on October 7th, 2008 @ 3:52pm CDT
Man he looks awesome. And the headsculpt is so close to the original without being trapped in a head box. I wish he had the "greener" looking water and eyes like in the promo pic, instead of the darker blue. But it's all good, he looks great.

I do wish whoever took the pics would've rotated the shoulder 'wings' around so they're in the back. They look really funny to me sticking out like that.

What a cool figure, I love the Classics 2.0 line.
Re: More images of Universe Inferno. (806060)
Posted by i_amtrunks on October 7th, 2008 @ 4:38pm CDT
I no longer care for Inferno having a ladder, the water cannon that is in it's place is just fine by me.

This figure is Awesomesauce, the whole Classics line really has been building up to the release of this figure, Inferno is it's pinnacle.

This easily gets $22-$23 of my money.
In fact, this'll probably be one of those figures that I get two of.

Totally agree with a couple others, this is a great blend of old and new.

This will be the first Universe Voyager class figure to add to my collection.

So we're mostly complaining that the weapon is under his arm, instead of on the outside of, or is a handheld.

I'm complaining that the arm ITSELF isn't the weapon! What ever happened to Inferno's little laser hand?
Re: More images of Universe Inferno. (806330)
Posted by DoubleOScorpio on October 7th, 2008 @ 8:11pm CDT
I'm totally pleased with this figure. I'm happy that we got an updated Inferno that is both modern and evokes the original mold.

Is it perfect, no, but the only things that could've made it better would be to have the weapon mount over his hand so you could give him the G1 look or have two fists. That just me being nitpicky though.

Bring on Grapple!!!
Re: More images of Universe Inferno. (806607)
Posted by Ravage XK on October 8th, 2008 @ 3:29am CDT
Why couldnt the Universe be the main line to tie in with a cartoon?

Inferno looks great. I agree that he could easily be adapted for Grapple, I just hope he isnt a yellow fire truck.

Anyone else think that this could also be a good Prime? A mix of G1 and RID.

-sigh-

Just when I've gotten off the wagon of buying TF's, they go an release one of the first Transformers I had as a kid.

Well, Inferno, Sideswipe, and Hound, combined with the Roadbuster 2-pack I need to get.

I hate you Hasbro.

I swear if they every do a Universe Powermaster Prime, or Universe Rodimus Prime, I'll have to kill someone.

Was that a laser hand? I thought it was a fire extinguisher.

This is a great rendition of Inferno. I wonder who gets the credit for the design - Hasbro or Takara?

The beauty of this mold is that it shows no sign of being a robot. Until you tranform him.

It's even got seats in the cockpit.

Here are a few more pics I found for the recently ended Ebay auction.

These show size comparsions, as well as a back view of robot mode.

I really like the amount of detail that was put into the alt mode. I've been wondering if he would look cooler with the white wingtips by his head, like in the G1 version.

I've been giving it some thought too.

Doubt it would look as good with this mould as it did on the original figure, I think they'd just look rather silly, and hiding them in alt mode could be a bit of a pain (since it seems Hasbro is trying to keep figures as altogether as possible, unlike G1).

Wow, i like it! He's bigger than Prime!!! Woohoo!

The back view looks good too. Although the butt looks better than the crotch. Looks like it should be the other way around. Anyway, still a very good figure. Much better than diminutive Prime. This is worth Voyager pricing.

Universe is just sucking us skeptics back in, man. I already broke down and got Prowl [before I found out about the sticky paint probs] and I'm planning on getting Galvatron and Cyclonus. Hasbro's generosity is simply atrocious.

Makes me want this figure even more, I think he looks awesome!!!!

I gotta say, with the inclusion of the e-bay photos, I am loving this figure more and more. Even from the back Inferno is a very well designed, and appealing no matter how you look at it.

Just enough of a brick design that doesn't conflict too much with movement, or anything else. The kibble is sparse and actually adds to the design in robot mode. The alt-mode looks fantastic, and the transformation looks easy enough and wouldn't require anyone, kids included, to look at the directions.

If only Hasbro gave us something like this for Energon Inferno.

Edit: ON the transformation, it looks like it doesn't stray that far from his G1 counterpart. Which is awesome.

Now, just when is he coming out, and his eventual repaint into Grapple, afterall this is one of the few instances a Repaint(and hopefully a bit of a retool especially on the side panels that hang on the back of his arm) works and is welcome.

If i remember correctly, Grapple has the hook thing. I hope he will be given just that when a repaint is in the offing.
