MP-46 Blackarachnia said to have MSRP above 130 USD

There was this nice air of innocence in the air yesterday when colour images of Masterpiece Blackarachnia started appearing online. Fans speculated her small stature would mean a return to price points below $100 USD. Of course, there's the fact that she comes with both a base like Dinobot AND a web accessory bigger than her, which people may have forgotten will figure into said price point. So all in all, it comes at very little surprise that the first notion we have on its price is closer to the $130 USD mark. As can be seen below from a listing description posted by a user from TFW2005 called TTemploy, the MSRP will be 15000 yen (around $136 USD at the moment). The listing descritpion also lists different faces, a weapon and missile, visor accessories and the aforementioned bases.

Regarding the price, this is the MSRP, meaning that the prices from some Japanese vendors like Amazon Japan will be lower. However, this will be the price western sellers will probably sell this toy for and after the qc problems with previous MPs, many fans have preferred buying from local importers due to the ease of exchanging defective products.

Here is the listing description:

preorder starts on 15th
retail price : Yen 15000
release : November
package size : 165×85x240
1x Black Widow Body
1x Smile Parts
1x Screaming face parts
1x Poison Anchor
1x Anchor Missile
1x Visor
1x Visor cable
1x Cord
4x Spider Web Parts
1x TF power Base
1x ARM
1x Adapter A
1x Adapter B
1x Character card
1x User manual

So, basically translating as the same price as MP Cheetor + fixed amount for the [pointless] stand. I did assume as much, some time ago now.

So what, isn't this line about the show models? And Blackarachnia and tarantulus do not share show models

:???: They do, though. BA's torso is more tapered, but otherwise the same. The Spider Bot and Cat Bot show models specifically demonstrate identical engineering. The same limbs, kibble, transformations etc

Mold variants aren't a new concept to the Masterpiece line either... >:oP

Blackarachnia's model has more differences with Tarantulas', chief in the shoulders, torso and legs.

Where are some good images when you need them?

That is not correct. I don't mind the discussion but if you are going to correct me, please come with facts rather than simply what you think/remember. The torso is far from the only difference. There are enough differences to call them different show models in my opinion.

Tarantulas' model chest was halved vertically at the midpoint, this forms Blackarachnia's shoulder pads and breasts. The torso is tapered, as mentioned, and the hips too. To give BA Feminine "curves". Otherwise the limbs are structurally and visually identical, aside from colouration.

Not to mention Blackarachnia’s certain other qualities. I don’t know what they are, but I just can’t quite put my hands on them.

Thank you. :APPLAUSE:

Clearly some people were too busy leering at the Sex Bot design growing up, to realise that the two Spiders and two cats shared a single model, due to budget reasons. I thought the reason BW cast was so small was pretty common knowledge?

Look again, at the areas I previously specified: the shoulders and torso are all different, not just stretched out or compressed like Tigatron's was from Cheetor. The legs... debatable with the texturing.

no surprise on the price point honestly. Like I said when the speculation started, not just accessories, but also the amount of parts needed to pull off her transformation would be a major factor. shes bound to have a ton of panels to make it work, like mp megs "wings". in fact the image makes it seem like shes got something of a backpack, which is also expected.

My only concern, seeing all that gold paint, is that she wont be like my mp cheetor. As in, she will not have every part completely coated in paint. all of my cheetors joints have cracked and began to disintegrate from the extra tension created by the paint being on the inside of said joints. one of his wrists is more superglue then plastic now. :-(

Yes I already addressed the shoulders, the torso and the legs. The Tarantulas mold was shaped into a Fembot.... :HEADHURTS:

But the definition of "sharing" seems to be different between us. I think a more accurate term could be... "adapted"?

I wouldn't know :o)

As the original point of the show models being similar was to see how feasible Tarantulas would be as a retool, I'd say maybe. Not as a direct retool (meaning directly sharing parts), but made from the same "skeleton", meaning joint placement and transformation would be the same. Same for Tigatron.

All I'm saying is, functionally, why would they make two different toys for a Spider? Essentially the same Beast Mode?? Especially in a line wherein production costs are so much more.

regardless of shard parts on the show models, (seriously only the arms are the same on them, and if you really think the tarantulus model was "shaped" into blackarachnia, then you never heard the story of how her character model was invented.) the spider designs on both of them were radically different, although I could see how her spider mode could have been reshaped from tarantulus. BA's abdomen was more rounded, thicker and and bulbous. it was shorther then tarantulus' though. she also had longer skinnier legs. only the head and pedipalps are the same, with different textures and sizes applied (tarantulus' was bigger then hers). and since this line is making such a big deal in making scales match, there's no way they can reuse any of this mold to make tarantulus. the build would have to be completely different to pull off his wider stockier, hunched over and shorter form.
