Rampage already has his cannons. They're not impressive, but they gave you the option for them.

They didn't overlook them, you're supposed to remove the bulldozer mode pistons and plug them into his hands. They aren't the most screen-accurate guns in the line, but they also definitely didn't forget them.

Now, does this mean the final Blitzwing will definitely have the correctly painted head? No, but it does mean this is by no means definitely representative of the final figure.

And you're right that you didn't see them in the instructions, they aren't there, I checked while posting, but it is an official feature because Hasbro shows it in the stock photo on the figure's packaging (and I want to say they displayed it that way before it came out, but I don't recall for certain).

Despite being a completionist, I passed on Crankcase and KSI Boss. I'm not usually hung up on screen accuracy, but when that's the point of the entire toyline, these two should just not exist as is.

I’m still confused as to why they didn’t just repaint the Berserker mold for Crankcase. I know Berserker wasn’t great, but I still think it’s better figure than Crowbar, especially after gluing the arm panels on, which wouldn’t be difficult for Hasbro to do.
I’m sure Blitzwing’s head will be painted on the final version, like everyone’s said. The robot mode looks pretty well done, I’m just so bummed we didn’t get a licensed F-4 mode, or something that looks pretty close to an F-4. I’ll pass on Blitzwing and probably pick up Skipjack instead, since I didn’t get Rampage.

Seems every figure has to have some glaring uglyness (like blitzs missiles in jet mode) so some has/tak employee can make a killing on the side with their third party upgrade business

Posted by ZeldaTheSwordsman on June 24th, 2020 @ 5:03am CDT
However, the Studio Series original molds are in fact meant to be more screen accurate within those limits, at least for important characters and first uses.
Posted by Evil Eye on June 24th, 2020 @ 6:13am CDT
On the bright side, I'll have few compunctions about modding him into a Starscream. There's potential there with some swapped parts and paintwork- but as BB Blitzwing he's pretty unsalvageable. Aside from possibly replacing the head (though I do rather like the "flight mask" sculpt) I'd mainly want to replace the feet. Painting them how they appeared in the movie would make them super egregious in alt mode, and leaving them as is looks awful, so I reckon some different shoes would be in order, both to improve the shape of the jet and also to make him more distinct from the original design.
As an interesting/unbearably nerdy side note, those tootsies he's sporting? They're actually based on the F-4 Phantom's nose wheel, which is a very cool detail even if he seems to have grown three extra wheels (he has four of those landing gear whereas the real jet has one, and only has three landing gear struts in total even accounting for the very different looking wing wheels).

I love G.Grevious' design, so if that's whom they choose to reference in a potential redeco of overload (getting the skipjack treatment basically), I'd be down for that

While an Overlord redeco would be nice, and that in particular would be cool, I sadly don't think it's in the cards (although it has a better shot than a do-over ROTF Soundwave).Hellscream9999 wrote:-Prior discussion snipped to save pagespace-

It's true that we got Skipjack, but
1. That was screen-supported and necessary for a more accurate Devastator; An Overload redeco has no screen support
and
2. The SS Rampage mold is a Voyager, while the Overload mold is a Leader; with as costly as the Studio Series Leaders are, they're less palatable for redeco-milking.
Between those two things, an Overload redeco seems unlikely. We might get Scavenger redecoed into Demolishor (since Demolishor has a significant screen presence to back him up and was the one to actually assume robot mode), but even that isn't guaranteed.

Because, at the time, Hasbro and Paramount kept referring to the satellite mode as Soundwave's altmode.william-james88 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:He was only ever seen in satellite mode in the movie, but with his robot mode head always deployed as if it was part of his altmode.william-james88 wrote:Just curious, but do we know for a fact that Soundwave had 2 modes in ROTF? The following is an early concept design for his robot mode, which Soundwave would have transformed into after scanning a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck in an early draft, and which Hasbro used as a basis for designing the ROTF satellite toy's robot mode after the plans for Chevy altmode were scrapped.

ZeroWolf wrote:Then what's the unshrouded head that others have been talking about?
In the movie, while in “satellite mode” Soundwave’s head was much more sleek and longer with a faceplate and a sort of visor (this can be seen on the alt mode of the old deluxe) while presumably in robot mode his head was pretty much just DotM Soundwave’s head (also seen on the old toy in robot mode). This new SS opts for lazily just using the standard Soundwave Robot head rather than having it become screen accurate for the alt mode, which is no real surprise given the alt mode in general for this figure is pretty terrible in my opinion.

There was concept art for Soundwave’s robot mode in ROTF, which the toys and video game model (ROTF era) are based on. In the movie itself, though, we only see the Satellite mode. It’s a case similar to DOTM Shockwave, where we don’t see another mode in the movie itself so Hasbro came up with something.
The shrouded vs unshrouded head thing is about the ROTF deluxe, which had 2 heads: one for satellite mode (which is meant to resemble the head we see Soundwave with on-screen in ROTF, though it is different from the final film version), and a separate one for robot mode that’s based on the concept art. Since the SS figure is just based on what we saw on-screen, with a new robot mode specifically for this figure, it uses the same head in both modes.
Honestly, the included stand with that orbit backdrop is really neat looking - I’m thinking I might pick this one up, I’ll have to look at some reference pics to see what I could do with paint.
