New Transformers Cyberverse Concept and Character Art

Posted by D-Maximal_Primal Apr 10, 2019 at 7:43pm CDT 61,272 views
Remember back in February when we got some sweet Cyberverse concept artwork? Well guess what, we got more!

Thanks to Sophia Sycamore on Artstation, we have a bunch of new concept art to share with you today. The concept artwork shown here includes some looks at Grimlock's dino mode, which compared to previous series has taken on a little bit of a pointier look, but still comes with some great dino mode expressions!

Next up, we get some nice and cute little organics, starring an adorable little pupper dog, the billy goat Bumblebee befriended and played headbutt with, and a little human boy, the only human to appear so far in the series.

Returning to our bots, we get some line art for Hot Rod, some facial expressions for Maccadam and Deadlock, and a look at the multitude of Seeker skin options the show has given to us.

Check out all out below, and let us know what you think in the comments section below!

Before anyone complains about the human kid, he was only in one episode of Season 1 and for just a few seconds of screentime, as he was merely part of a quick joke bit that the writers made, and was never seen again for the rest of the season. The Autobots in this show, so far, do not have any human companions.

Well, just think back to the actual CG render of Dirk Dinobot, and this seems perfectly reasonable.

Over a decade ago, I swore I would never go down the path to collecting EVERY POSSIBLE Seeker color scheme in any mold other than Classics Starscream...but one look at that chart, and suddenly I know that if the toyline improves enough to give us a truly definitive mold, I will do so for Cyberverse Seekers. Yes, I could actually be complaining about Cyberverse toys not sucking hard enough by year's end.

WOAH.

I dont even remember a human, or a goat, or a dog...shows how little I paid attention even when watching this series....

Don’t think anyone was going to.

I vote to name the black and green Seeker “Changeling”

Ok, but they'd better start drawing butt holes on the transformers too. I mean, they all ready draw the nipples on the seekers, so why not go all the way?

Wouldn't "Changewing" work better?

Yes, except I’m pretty sure the fine folks over at How to Train Your Dragon rubber stamped that one already for one of their Netflix series.

The grey and red seeker reminds me of the G1 Starscream toy.

Cool art, looks great ;)^

HA! I misread your post and thought you were critiquing the designs.

I love the colour palettes and subtle shading on these. I'm really impressed with the style of the series as a whole.

So I happened to rewatch a few episodes today, They were much more enjoyable than I remembered!
Curiously, however, the inconsistent faction symbols from Generations toys have seeped into the cartoon. If I'm correct, Bumblebee and Grimlock have G1-style badges (but missing the forehead vent), while Prime's and Windblade's have movie-style "angry eyebrows". Not sure if this has been mentioned already.

So, Episode 8 "Terminal Velocity" (the one where Bumblebee recalls visiting Velocitron with Hot Rod and having a race with Blurr until a rust plague infects the planet) apparently made its premiere in Japan yesterday and, according to TFWiki, the episode's Japanese title translates to "Planet Speedia".

The significance of this is that this means that Velocitron was apparently renamed "Speedia", which is what the planet was called in Transformers: Galaxy Force, the original Japanese version of Transformers: Cybertron.

This then means that, despite the brand unification pretty much making Takara use all of the same names and terms as Hasbro in the Japanese market for this series, the movies, and Siege, Velocitron was remarkably somehow unaffected by the brand unification, being allowed to retain its original Japanese name of "Speedia" instead of having to use its Hasbro name.

There's a Cyberverse panel going on at SDCC and there the female Lugnut lookalike has been revealed to be named "Clobber".
