New Transformers HasLab Unicron surpasses 2,000 Orders Seemingly On Track to Meet Quota

6,000 backers in a month ... that's a lot of people who may still be humming and harring about it.

I’ll never afford one but I’m a booster I hope everyone who can get 5 gets 5. It’s an iconic year in the brand.

I'm mostly hoping that What/however TakaraMall is doing it *adds* or is "taken into consideration" to Haslabs 8000 marker... That said TakaraMall did GrandMax on their own...

Will be interesting to see how this shakes out... Especially if BBTS/3rd party can "double dip" with if Haslab falls through, they can try and boost Takmall.

Alternatively- if Haslab meets funding Goal, will Takaramall still be "campaign driving" or just opended up for all (since at that point I assume the molds and factories will have been warmed up.

I found this cool article on jedibusiness.com showing a timeline of reveals for the sail barge just to maybe give us a rough template of what we might see in regards to bonus material for Unicron being revealed a piece at a time. It also gives some perspective of where Unicron’s orders stand right now.

“The Jabba's Sail Barge HasLab project was announced and started on 2/17/2018 and ran until 11:59 PM EST on 4/3/2018. It took until 3/30/2018, only a few days before the campaign was over, for Jabba's Sail Barge to be funded fully with 5,000 supporters. However, once it had reached its goal it skyrocketed to 8,810 backers quickly.

Today it's 2050 backers.
Let's hope a flow of backers will come exponentially because it's a bit slow. The fact that the thing cost 575$US doesn't help because not many people are ready to pay that amount on a collectible.

On the doll front, an event at Volks USA, 80 675$US dolls of a special edition were for sale. All of them sold in around half an hour. But here, it's 8000 units of this bot. That's freaking HUGE. But compared to a Dollfie Dream, were they are about a single mold (already made years ago) that is "repainted" over and over, this Unicron will be his own thing and the initial mold must be built and paid for.

I do wonder where is the profit cap in units numbers? 2000? 4000? 6000? If the profits are low despite the high numbers of units produced, this mean that it's really a gift for us fans.

Someone over at TFW named backhawkdown posted something comparing Unicron and the Sail Barge's backing rates over time that gives some good perspective about where Unicron is at backing-wise:

Over the next 28 days the Barge only received another 1,829 backers — a little over 66 per day before capturing over 4,000 backers in its last 6 days. It will be interesting to see how many backers per day Unicron gets for the next 28 days. As of now it’s averaging more per day after the first six days than the Barge did but I am only looking at a small amount of days for Unicron versus the entire 28 days total for the Barge then dividing it by those 28 days. It’s not perfect but paints a pretty decent picture of the performance which still indicates being fully funded.

I think the main problem with this right now is the sheer number of exclusives and high priced items announced at the exact same time. Like ... where's the fire, guys? Did the sail barge have this sort of glut? Plus the line has people rebuying older characters all at once too AND a new Seeker mould which has people army building. AND most of them are exclusives! I can see other fans deciding they'd rather have a new Seeker army at voyager size AND Omega Supreme AND Jetfire than Unicron alone in two years time.

Choices must be made and I'm starting to doubt my backing. Especially if I must use my credit card once again. I already have two 1000$CAN dolls. I dont need a 3rd one.

Not here to rain on the parade, but while 2000 is a great accomplishment, this is NOT on pace to make it to 8000. IN fact, just as it crossed 2000, for the first time, the number of backers was behind pace, and will only begin compounding each day. I posted earlier on in this thread based on when the campaign began, there were 48 days. Simple math- 8000 divided by 48= 167 backers per day (rounding up)

The first few days were nice since almost 800 signed up, but since then, it has been pretty steady. Now it is behind unfortunately. It does not appear at this time (thought things could change), that any of the 3rd party retailers or backers are adding to this total, which is unfortunate. As of this writing it is as 2051, this is where it should have been between the 26th/27th, about 450 behind where it needs to be today. I suspect perhaps a slight uptick around August 1, as this may be a time when many people receive their sources of income. But unless something really significant happens, its not looking good.
