Some official images have surfaced of the upcoming Premium Series Ironhide and Blackout from the Transformers Movie toyline. The images show both figures in vehicle and robot modes as well as our first look at the Premium series packaging. both figures will see a mass retail (these are not store exclusives) and will ship, according to the Entertainment Earth listing here, in April 2008.
Um... I think I actually like the non-premium versions better, especially Blackout.
Megs is the only premium figure that I'm interested in. I held off buying the ugly non-premium one because I saw a recolor coming a mile away. These others aren't much of an improvement, me thinks.
I have yet to be impressed with any of the movie figures. I bought Blackout on a whim since he was my favorite character in the movie, but was so displeased with the crappy "auto morph technology" that I refuse to buy anymore.
I never picked up Blackout so I'll probably pick up this one. I love his paint apps in alt mode but his bot mode paint apps leave something to be desired. Blecch to Ironhide. I already have the first Voyager release and the paint apps are much better on that version.
Blackout is less impressive than I was expecting. though I like the metallic Scorponok and I haven't bought a Blackout yet. This Ironhide looks less movie accurate than the original. And I already got an Ironhide.
I never got Blackout before, so I might bother with him. He looks OK in alt mode, and his Skorponok mini-figure has a better paint job. Overall, though, I'm thinking these count more as re-releases to figures that thoroughly sold out than as legitimate repaints that they expect anyone to buy who already owns the first release. Can we bring out Animated earlier? Please?

They appear very similar.
Looks like absolutely nothing. So those of you that spent the enormous amount of cash to get the Takara exclusive must be feelin like an ass now.
Are those Blackout pics even accurate? I just looked a the Lawson's version yesterday, and that is an exact copy. It looks nothing like the one I have for preorder:
I still don't have Blackout so I'll probably get this one. I might get Ironhide just because the Allspark one is Blue and yellow colors of the Wolverines But I don't really need anpther Ironhide but most admit the smokestacks are doing it for me
For all the time and effort that Hasbro put into these "more accurate" premium figures we probably could have gotten larger scale versions of the deluxes. For example, the voyager Bonecrusher that we asked for at Botcon, and Alternator size Bumblebee, Barricade and maybe Jazz. Prehaps even a leader Blackout
I know it is cheaper to just repaint the existing moulds but delaying new figures from universe and animated just to give us more of the same stuff with a few small differences from what we all bought 7 months ago in june just doesn't seem right.
That's what I think anyway, for what it's worth. I guess I just will be buying old G1 figures for the next 6 months.
