The controversial movie alt mode that Optimus Prime takes in the Transformers movie has now been recreated as a paper model. Check out the Peterbilt 379 recreated in impressive detail and accuracy.

Why is it a contraversial alt mode? Is it just because it's not G1 style?

Correct! Controversial as in; fan-boys-don't-like-new-adaptations-with-changes-even-though-it's-a-different-continuity-altogether-so-it-doesn't-really-matter-controversial! B-)
