So there you have it; it was all but confirmed in yesterday's news of Cooley moving on and Paramount focusing on other animated films instead, but now we have an official confirmation. While a sequel would have been great, the film was initially made as a stand alone film, acting as an all purpose prequel to the franchise in general, and will live on as such.
More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

Sucks, but sadly not shocking. The film was awesome, but it bombed hard. Blame a combination of bad marketing (they made this look like a comedy in the trailers and commercials) and a bunch of terrible prior movies ruining public interest in the franchise (I'd say only one of the prior FOUR Transformers films was actually good), but it never had a chance.

Pretty much this. The franchise needs to take a break because the mainstream audience isn't interested

Probably to no one's surprise at this point.
I liked the movie a quite a bit (likely #3 or 4 of all the TF movies incl. '86), but I was very meh on the characters' designs and I haven't bought a single one TFO figure (even though I'm tempted to get a few SS figures, but I just can't get into their smaller size for their traditionally large characters like OP, Megs & Sentinel Prime) and I remember thinking "THIS need the $75 million ILM budget for?" throughout the watch.
Yeah terrible marketing is a factor, but I have a feeling that The Wild Robot have more to do to TFO's failure. I know if I'm not a TF fan and I have to choose, I'd go for TWR the weeks these 2 movies are in theatre at the same time, even for rewatches.

Maybe if certain parts of the fan base got out of their echo chambers and supported the film instead of resharing the same clips again and again and repeating their dried out hate towards the Bayverse or other continuities, then a sequel would have been possible. They could have also easily helped move toy sales instead of dancing over the Rotten Tomatoes score being positive but what do I know.
Also, the fact that people are radio silent on what Cooley is directing next after making fun of the idea that Bay was going to direct a Skibidi Toilet movie until it turned out he wasn't is too funny in some ways. Though that being said, I don't care about either a movie based on a weird Gmod series as much as I do a movie on someone eating literal crap.

I had an opportunity to chat with Josh at Bot on and he really didn't seem happy about this. He had plans.

I would've expected Bayhaters to be proponents of this movie.

The direct quote from the horse's mouth:
It's a shame, but I was glad to have gotten to briefly meet him and get both his autograph and a photo op with him.

I'll always blame the marketing on this. I really had no plans to see it because the trailers made it look like an extra long episode of a Y7 show.
My son was actually the reason why I did see it. Our whole family loved it.
