Paramount Transformers 5 and Cybertronian Animated Feature Ready to Pitch, Mark Wahlberg Returning

Via Seibertronians Absolute Zero and SyTF1 we have confirmation (and cancellation) of some of the rumours that have been floating around the interwebs for the past couple of months regarding Paramount's upcoming Transformers 5 and the potential animated feature.

According to Deadline, Akiva Goldsman has now a project to pitch for both the sequel and the Cybertron-based prequel from the writers' room, seemingly with Mark Wahlberg confirmed in some role, but not confirmation of Michael Bay directing yet. Read more here and a snippet below!

EXCLUSIVE: It’s pencils down for the Transformers Writers Room; the experiment has concluded and the early results are in. Akiva Goldsman has walked away with a concrete blueprint to write a Transformers sequel for Mark Wahlberg to star in for Michael Bay to direct, with production starting in June. Ant-Man scribes Andrew Barrer & Gabriel Ferrari will head off and write an animated feature, an origin story that focuses on Cybertron, the planet from which the good and bad Transformer robots hail.

More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

I thought it had been confirmed that bay was coming back for the next one?

I mean at this point paramount are walking up to bay with a big blank cheque with a sure smile on their faces given the movies past box office takings

I'm going to hesitantly agree with you sly, a lot of people have been asking for a humanless tf movie, let's see if they'll regret it after wards.

That one was, for now, debunked. Mark Ryan knew not what he was saying.

Is it bad that I'm looking forward to the animated feature more than the live action film? I want a movie taking place on Cybertron,

You know not what you're saying! Prime fighting Unicron is probably 'meh' at best, but Prime fighting a Unicorn? That is going to be awesome beyond words!
:-P

I swear these guys just keep thinking of new ways to screw with us... "What will really irritate the hardcore fans? More Michael Bay? Let's do that! What? We haven't destroyed their origins yet? Oooh, yes! Lets do that too! Just remember to make it as nonsensical as possible!"

Then rely on the subsequent negative press and Bay-bashing, which inadvertently promotes for them the very crap they're producing.

I wish they'd just euthanise this poorly-executed junk and start again... But considering the obscene amounts of money they're making, I consider that highly unlikely. :BANG_HEAD:

After Batman and Robin I despair when I see Akiva Goldsmith associated with anything.

The movies he's written for are a bit hit and miss.

Surely he can't do any worse than the last bloke.

I'll wait to make any decisions, make any opinions until a story pitch is ready, filming has ended and we start to see CGI footage and spoiler alerts :BOT:

Akiva Goldsman is ALSO gonna write the animated one?!? Oh, for f***'s sake! What's the point of reeling so many people for the brain trust if they'll give two to the one responsible for a movie that nearly killed super hero movies? :BANG_HEAD:
And come on, who are we kidding, ourselves? Bay will direct TF5 -_-
Between this and Mega Man's movie being made by Fox...I don't think I can take it :-(

Oh how easily this fandom forgets that we already got a fully CGI animated, humanless, Cybertron-set movie before.

ok, I'm a little confused now. This "Animated Prequel" that is supposed to be set in the movie universe. Is this something different than the Combiner Wars that Machimina is producing? I sincerely hope so.

There have only been three Animated films in the entire 30 year history of the Transformers. All of them have one thing in common- minimal-to-zero human involvement, and all of them are amazing! So a Movie verse prequel could still be decent. I just hope its different from CW which was supposed to be set in G1 (well I'm assuming IDW's G1 anyway).

Paramount and Machinima have nothing to do with each other, TF-wise.

Machinima has nothing to do with Warner Bros. either, but Machinima still produced TV and animation for Warner. I see your point, but just wanted to be clear as this is the first I have heard of this additional animated project beyond CW that was announced at SDCC.

Machinima's CW thing is Neo G1-based. This is Movieverse.
