The Robots in Disguise legion class as a whole has been one of the highlights from the line. It kept the legion (previously known as legends) class alive and brought in fresh ideas and designs along with innovative transformations, especially for the size class. It was also a good way to get several characters at a similar scale and get a really nice team of Decepticons (as you will see below) without resorting to simpler/gimmick figures.

Cyclonus and Heatseeker are perfect additions to this stellar lineup.

Heatseeker reuses the Strongarm and Ratchet transformation scheme but the mold is all his own with two great looking modes that have unique looks. My favourite part is how all the red from the robot mode gets centralized in vehicle mode along with the killer headsculpt. There is some really minutious detail there with an immaculate spec of blue paint to show his monocle and bring out his Kopaka Nuova look. He also has articulated feet, which Strongarm and Ratchet don't have.

Cyclonus really blew my mind though. He retains his super sleek altmode but does something no other Cyclonus toy has ever done: show no signs of a robot mode underneath. Through some brilliant engineering, he ends up hiding every detail from his torso in alt mode. Minus the arms, of course, and it is to bad that they don't end up more compact in alt mode. However, they do peg in securely and do blend in with the cybertronian nature of the vehicle.

A large chunk of the alt mode is folded very neatly on his back in robot mode, but it does en up giving him extra crests behind his helmet. You will see in the images that you can always pose him with that backpack lowered to get rid of that look.

Speaking of posing, he has far more articulation than most other legion classes in the line (probably the most articulation) with his transformation giving him knees and his arms being on ball joints like Legion Starscream and Windblade.

He has a great colour scheme too, with two purples alternating in different areas, one being that rich deep purple you only see in the sweetest grape drinks.

Transformers News: Pictorial Review of Transformers: Robots in Disguise Legion Cyclonus and Heatseeker

My main issue with him is the headsculpt. It just looks too cute and animated, like it belongs in a show for much younger kids. Comparing his headsculpt to Heatseeker would have you believe they were from completely different shows. But aside from that, he is awesome for me.

I am glad to welcome them both to my team of Decepticons!

Heetseeker's vehicle mode looks like Steeljaw and Strongarm had a kid.

Although I wouldn't be surprised if someone already did that in some fanfiction or fanart.

Cyclonus has a silly-ass grin on his face... Not quite the stoic leader I am used to, not that I want to pick this one up. Just gonna leave it for the kids if I see it, since I stopped watching RID after season 1.

At first I enjoyed it to a point, then it went so far off from Prime I honestly didn't care about the characters, the story or anything else...just kinda faded from my mind.

I doubt since the series is nearly finished that we'll get a new Bulkhead toy(since he's in the new episode) + it would just look like the previous Bulkhead release anyway

Fellow Seibertronian Mindmaster has some good news for Transformers: Robots in Disguise fans. He found Warrior Twinferno at a Toysrus in Wilmington, NC. However, he only found Twinferno which is a good indication that this is the wave that only has Twinferno as a new figure, with the rest being repacks, and not the wave including Bludgeon and Thermidor. Let us know if ever you find Bludgeon or Thermidor and good luck on the hunt.

Had a chance to fiddle with this mold at Hascon, and I was not impressed. Feels flimsy and has a very weak alt mode.

Target has sales going from now through 11/22 (Wednesday before Thanksgiving).

The Target Toy Book is going out now. There's a $10 Target car with $50 toy purchase offer on the back of the Toy Book.

https://www.bfads.net/Target-2017-Toy-Book-Posted

Starting on Sunday 10/29 through 11/11, texting TOY to Target (827438) will get you a 25% a single toy (or sporting good or kids' craft) item. It's probably one coupon per phone number so you probably can't get one each day. Also, starting on 11/1 through Thanksgiving, there will be a daily deal on a toy each day. I can't recall if any Transformers toys popped up there on last year.

Specific to Robots in Disguise Toys:

Transformers Robots In Disguise Combiner Force Activator Combiners $16.99 (Reg. 19.99)

Transformers Rid Force Team Combiner $24.99 (Reg. 29.99)

The Transformers: Robots in Disguise line has really been all over the place with distribution depending on the country with toys being outright skipped. When the US started getting a wave containing only one Twinferno with no Bludgeon or Thermidor, which was different than what every other country got, people feared for the worst. Well, we have some good news for fans of the line and those looking for either that Bludgeon or Thermidor. We have our first US listing of the wave including those two at Entertainment Earth. There it states that this wave is due out in December 2017. It also gives a content of the case where we see which toys are being repacked along with the new figures.

Case of 8 individually packaged figures includes:
1x TRA RID WARRIOR BUMBLEBEE
1x TRA RID WARRIOR GRIMLOCK
1x TRA RID WARRIOR STRONGARM
1x TRA RID WARR POWER SURGE OPTIMUS PRIME
2x TRA RID WARRIOR AUTOBOT TWINFERNO
1x TRA RID WARRIOR DECEPTICON BLUDGEON
1x TRA RID WARRIOR THERMIDOR

So, my TAV Strongarm turned up yesterday. Must say, she's a decent little figure. Fun, full of character. Only real problem is her shoulder kibble gets in the way of her door wings when posing but can still get her in some good looks. She's not enough to make me want to get any more of RID but I certainly am very happy with her. She'll look great on my classics shelf beside Prowl, training under him.

And I will pretend her little scan badge is actually her police Cadet badge. That's why it has a big circle around the :BOT: and no one else has one.

There are still several toys left to be released at US retail for the Robots in Disguise line, before the next show toyline, Cyberverse, comes. A big returning character from Transformers Prime this season was Soundwave, in a new alt mode, and several toys in different classes were made for this character. The latest of which, the One Step Soundwave, has now hit both US and Canadian retail the very same week. The sightings below come from Scotty P who found it in Walmart in Cary, NC for $7.86 USD and from your fellow editor who found it in Walmart in Montreal, Qc for $9.92 CAD.
Below are images of both these sightings along with an image of the robot mode.

Other Robots in Disguise toys that have yet to be found at US retail would be warriors Bludgeon and Thermidor, legions Heatseeker, Cyclonus and Twinferno and Crash Combiners Optimus Prime/Grimlock and Saberhorn/Bisk. Let us know if ever you find those in the wild!

Along with the recent sighting - reported here - of the Transformers: Robots in Disguise One Step Soundwave figure in both the US and Canada, we have confirmation of the same toy appearing charismatically in Australia too, thanks to the Ozformers discussion boards and member Polursine. There are other items in the mix too, as you can see, but Soundwave itself is priced at 19 AUSD (if the labelling is on the correct peg, from the image).

In other news from Oz, fellow Seibertron.com staff member Qwan used the sighting to check out their regular haunts, and came across the diecast Dickie Toys figurines from the very same Robots in Disguise section of the franchise, for 10$ AUSD each, featuring the likes of: Optimus Prime, Strongarm, Steeljaw, Sideswipe, Bumblebee and Drift. Check it all out below!

I was just doing some research for fun as to which toys were selling better and it seems that the notion of Titans return selling better than RID is a myth.

As of right now, on toysrus.ca, only 1 RID toy can be ordered, Ultra Bee. Everything else is sold out, which is pretty incredible. For titans return, we have that whole wave of toys that no one is buying, including Quake, Krok and Triggerhappy (along with Trypticon but he is a very high ticket item so I get it).

I looked on Toysrus.com and while there are more RID toys available, the combiners are sold out.

So yeah, this toyline sold pretty well.

Coming to us once again from our good friend, fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999, we have a review of the One-Step-Changer Soundwave for the Robots in Disguise Combiner Force subline! As the final One-Step Changer in said line, the figure seems to be a positive note to close out on, featuring a good-looking vehicle mode, effective transformation and a robot mode remarkably accurate to the character's in-show appearance (albeit with some significant kibble on its back).

Check out Chuck's review and thoughts below, and let us know what you think too, by telling us in the Energon Pub Forums!

All things must come to an end, so to Transformer lines. One-Step Soundwave is the last One-Step changer from the RID Combiner Force subline. While not as flashy or involved as other simplified figures, it does make for a fun desk toy and a positive period to the line.

With the relatively recent news of the Transformers: Robots in Disguise warrior class Twinferno figure finally making it to US shelves, we now have news that his smaller scaled toy, legion class Twinferno has been found as well. This particular sighting is from fellow Seibertronian Megatron Wolf who found it at Target in Sayville, NY, for $5.99 USD. This confirms that the US release of these remaining figures is indeed different from the rest of the world where Hasbro distributed, since everywhere else, the next wave should have had legion class Cyclonus and Heatseeker instead with Twinferno coming after that particular wave.

It is currently unknown if the Cyclonus/Heatseeker wave, which has already been spotted in markets outside the US, has been outright skipped in the US or if it will be coming out after the legion Twinferno wave. While there is currently no listing of the CyclonusHeatseeker wave from any US based store, we should remember that the warrior class waves have been out of order as well in the US. The best example is the US getting a wave consisting of just one warrior class Twinferno along with repacked figures as opposed to the Bludgeon/Thermidore/Twinferno wave which is scheduled to come out later this year in the US, half a year after being found everywhere else.

All to say that the US distribution of this line has not been aligned with the rest of the world for some reason, but the good news is that the toys do seem to eventually come out and the US gets this legion class wave a bit earlier than other countries. So early in fact that there has yet to be any video review for this legion class Twinferno. So if you spot any or make one yourself in the next couple of days, let us know!

When looking at all sightings across the world for the Transformers: Robots in Disguise line, there are only two products (that we know of) left to come out. Those are the two remaining Crash Combiners, Primelock and Saberclaw. Primelock is made up of Optimus Prime and Grimlock while Sabreclaw is made up of Bisk and Saberhorn. Both of these toys were previously seen at SDCC 2017 and months later we finally have some stock images, giving us a better look at them.

These final two toys from the line take a nice turn by incorporating beast modes rather than just vehicles with Grimlock and Saberhorn. This is also the first (and only) Saberhorn toy we are getting. These images come to us from Amazon though the products are currently only offered through a third party seller. What is odd is the release date being April 2018, which would be months after the rest of the line is on shelves. The release date is just for this particular third party seller so it is unknown if Amazon, or any other retailer will get them earlier.

The Robots in Disguise wave of warrior class figures including Thermidor and Bludgeon has finally hit the US, half a year after this final wave hit the rest of the world. It is great news though since final waves usually suffer from lack of proper distribution due to retailers preferring to stock a new line.
This particular sighting comes from MegaX Master who found Robots in Disguise Thermidor and Bludgeon at Walmart in Rifle Colorado.
For those curious to see what these toys are all about, or for those hesitant about purchasing these, we have a pictorial review of Bludgeon and Thermidor.

There is only one of each of these in every case of eight figures. These two have been highly anticipated by Americans who really hoped not to have to resort to the secondary market so please post your findings in the sightings section and sightings forum.

I really like that Bludgeon figure but it's a shame he, Twinferno and Stormshot wasn't on the show, I'm kind of sick of Transformer toylines not delivering the characters that are actually on screen and giving us cool looking characters who are not on the show.

I'm not asking for the one episode characters...which this toyline had a couple such as Blastwave who doesn't even look like he does on the show but where are better figures of recurring characters such as Underbite and Clampdown? Or proper Stunticons?!

I would prefer it to be like the first couple Movie toylines that had all the film characters (Bar some Contructicons at a scale beyond legends) with additional Toyline only characters that "shared" a line with screen characters and not replaced some of them.

If your toy commercial tv shows can't have characters that have figures then don't bother making them in the show at all.

With the ending of any Transformers toyline, there's always the worry that line-ending waves (and any new figures in said waves) will be hard to find or in some cases, won't be found at all. In the particular case of the Robots in Disguise line, the final waves of Legion-class figures, distribution has been spotty at best, but thankfully, seems to be making it to more and more markets. Thanks to fellow Seibertronian Prismartyr, we can report that Legion-class Twinferno has made his way down under to Australia! He sent us some in-package and in-hand images featuring the tiny dragon-headed/handed Autobot, found at a Coles store in Lisarow, New South Wales.

The holiday season is almost over for many countries and cultures (though we have yet to enter the lunar calendar festivities, of course) but in a number of lagging, lapsed, or observant Catholic communities the Epiphany is just round the corner - meaning that Italy has a whole new holiday to gear up for on the commercial front, with the tradition of Befana (a witch-like character who brings sweets and coal to nice and naughty children respectively on the night between 5th and 6th January), and stockings are currently in shops next to the sale of Christmas merch, also including Transformers Robots in Disguise-themed goods!

The images below come from a variety of shops in the country (Carrefour, Coop, Conad, Esselunga) but are almost entirely distributed by Walcor's, much like the advent calendar we reported on here, and also include two mugs filled with chocolates, with prints of Bumblebee and Optimus Prime. Check it out!

Bee and prime, because there aren't any other characters....

Sarcasm aside, that's still pretty cool. I would have killed to have a stocking (bee or prime) at christmas - of course I would prefer Decepticons... that's me... But still really cool.

Greetgins all,

This is kind of a break-in conversation form another thread, but it applies more here thabn in the PotP thread, so I wanted to keep things OT.

basically, I'm nto a fan of the RiD15 line, but I'm not here to bash it, I just want some objective opinons and comparisons. I've had a few figures suggested as shining examples of how Rid15 was, but they are characters I have no desire to own, so the only thing I can do is compare...

I'd like to get an honest comparison between---- Transformers Titans Return Twinferno & Rid15 Twinferno -which overall is better? and why would you say so... (I own TR Twinferno, and I think it is a great toy, I saw RiD15 Twinferno yesterday, and wasn't really impressed based on what I saw in the package)

Same for Windblade. Although I've only seen Rid Windblade up close at B&M, its a nice way to compare two versions of the same character. If a fan could only choose one, why would they pick one over the other?

I've not heard great things about RID twinferno, but I haven't been able to track him down to get an in-hand account.

The RID windblade mold actually stands which is much better than the T30 windblade (haven't gotten TR yet). If you compare T30 WB to RID WB, you'll think T30 is the cheap knockoff because the plastic is much better on RID. My biggest gripe is that the arms are just tabbed into the side, but this is a problem most jetformers have lately including T30 WB. Did I mention RID WB can actually stay together in jet-mode?

These are far from the best of the line though. Ratchet is a really fun remold of Strongarm, but needs some reprolabels. Drift is great unless you get the deployer or 3step. Thunderhoof and Fracture are the two best warriors. Soundwave is fun but has exposed arms. Starscream and skywarp are meh jetformers. Bisk, scorponok, quillfire are great, well-engineered toys. I'd stay away from sideswipe, Optimus, the jets, and bee. The rest of the warrior class are on par with T30/CW deluxes, but I think they fall a hair short of the TR deluxes.

EDIT: I forgot to point out that the only gimmick they have is being able to transform. The warriors don't even have pegs for the minicons (I honestly wish Hasbro had included a few pegs to attach the minicons, just like they did for the 3 steps and deployers).

We'll start with your first question: Twinferno. The TR one is far superior to the RiD one. The RiD one is the simplist warrior from the line and is not as heavy as the others. He also does a bit less, and the main fun thing from him are the flame accessories. Now that's not to say I don't like him, as he's made a great ceiling fan cling, but the TR one is more involved and more fun overall.

As for Windblade, I personally think her TR figure is the best of the 3 so far, though the warrior is no slouch, and you have the 2 options of regular Windblade and faceplate Windblade (I have the regular. She transforms pretty much the same as the TR one with some slightly different leg transformations, and she holds together nicely, can pose, and can stand. Her sword is very boring though, the T30 and TR Windblade having better weapons. So with Windblade, between TR and RiD, you can't really go wrong.

As for other figures in the line, Thunderhoof is great, one of my new favorite Decepticons thanks to the show, and he has a great figure. Fracture is a standout figure from any of the recent lines, and him being a bike with a giant rifle makes up for him being slightly lighter than the rest of the figures. Quillfire and Bisk and their repaints are great figures that are very unique and are fun in every respect. Ratchet makes for a pretty good generations Ratchet, and he is standing on my LL shelf with Drift. Drift is also a pretty decent figure, though the best (which I never got but wanted to) was his Takara one with a new head based on IDW's design. Bludgeon and Megatronus are also very decent tank formers who have great robot modes, fun tank modes, and some fun transformations.

You should give some of the RiD guys a try, there are some gems that were better than any CW deluxes and most of the TR guys too

If you were into Transformers: Robot in Disguise, you may have come across the tiny collectable items (in blind bags) known as Tiny Titans - non-transformable, but quite dynamically sculpted little bots of the cast from the show. The figures also came with collectable cards, featuring artwork of the accompanying character, such as the one recently posted by artist Emiliano Santalucia on his Facebook art page!

Check out below a rendition of the leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime, as he dazzles into an action pose, ion cannon and battlemask and all. What do you think of the artist's take on the style of the show's animation? Did you ever collect the cards or figures? Join the discussion in the Energon Pub!
