Rumor: Next Botcon 09 Figure to be Universe 2.0 repaint

Unconfirmed reports are coming in of the next figure for the Botcon 2009 Wings of Honor set. This figure would, of course, be a bagged souvenir addition.

Pictures of the figure were found on TaoBao.com by Destro of TFW2005.com. The figure appears to be a repaint of Universe Leo Prime is in the color schemes of the Predacon Razorclaw. Could that be what the figure is?

Now if they would just supersize ALL of the Legends Class Team Leader repaints from the exclusive 5 pack we would really have a cool set to collect.
It's cool that they did this but I can't say as I didn't see something like this coming. This is Leo's what, 5th paint job now?
They should have done this 2 years ago.
It's still neat to see that finally got around to it even if it is only an exclusive that darn few of us can get.

Nice paint scheme, but really an overused design... Still doesn't up my interest in the set much, but a nice addition for those who're going.

Wow. This'll be the first time that they reference a previous Botcon convention set with this fig.

This probably ties in with the end of Dawn of Future's Past comic of BotCon 2006. Here, the G1 Predacon subgroup is hinted at of being the founders of the Predacon faction.

Speaking of which, will it be a repaint of Leobreaker, Leo Prime or will it have a new head alltogether?

Hasbro's not dumb (Not saying you implied or said that though), they're almost without a doubt gonna use the leo prime mold, because Razorclaw has a similar faceplate to prime, and that head mold is already pretty close to looking like his.

Actually Leo prime is a repaint of Cybertron Leo Breaker so who ever put the tag up on the news header is mistaken. Its a repaint of a Cybertron figure like most of the rest of this botcon set.

Misleading a bit no?

not really as leo prime is a remold of leobreaker not a straightup repaint so that puts it as a universe 2.0

I wouldn't be so sure. Souvenir figures are also eligible for new heads (like Shattered Glass Megatron and Blurr) and we have yet to see one with a new head. Maybe this is one.

I thought Blurr used the head from Cybertron's retool of Armada Blurr?

Anyway, I don't see Razorclaw's head being different enough from Prime's to warrant a change.

Nope, the heads are different: Cyb Blurr's is rounded, while Shattered Glass' is more blockish:

You know that feeling you get when you have that brief flash of insight/enlightenment? I just realized why we get compared to Trekkies so much.

Seriously though, without the head shot how can you categorize whether it is a straight repaint (which should be like the 3rd or 4th) or a remold (which would make this the 2nd, right?) if you count only a different head sculpt as a remold. I think we need to see more pics. of thing.

Not even the black on the CD Leader Class Op helped with that visual.

DAMN IT! We all knew they were going to produce this figure eventually. I'm pissed that it's going to be another freaking exclusive. Now I'll probably never own one.

(Realizing that Razorclaw is the body in G1...) Savage Claw Mode DOES However make a nice Predakng Arm.

Well, I took the day off the boards for Easter and missed something fun.

It's hard to tell being that figure is still bagged but it looks like a nice paint scheme and a good idea.

One small beef here, though. People really have to learn to appreciate the Botcon figures for what they are. They're not going to be completely new figures mold-wise and obviously there are going to be limitations with what they can do. On the flip side, they go well out of their way to give the adult collector a little something extra that we would have never had otherwise.

It seems like every time we see a new Botcon figure people either complain about "how could they repaint that mold again?" or "that looks cool, but I'll never be able to afford it, why didn't they release it for everyone to buy?"

The fact that these figures are being made for collectors at all is something that a large portion of the fandom takes for granted and doesn't seem even close to appreciating.
