Slagacon Vector Zeta Convention Exclusive Update

Seibertron.com staff member Fender Bender attended this weekend's Slagacon convention and has an update on their Vector Zeta exclusive Powermaster upgrade for Classics Optimus Prime.

The bad news, the exclusive has been delayed for six to eight weeks. Apparently there were some mold defects with the prototype that are going to require some additional time to work out.

The good news, Fender Bender got to handle the original custom and the prototype and reports this feels like a "solid" piece. There is also a reason behind the sets rather odd looking trailer mode, it's incomplete. Next year's Slagacon exclusive will be the front half of the trailer. Fans willing to take the plunge on this year's exclusive and pick up next year's should have a complete trailer. No new images, but here are the previously released prototype images for reference.

the trailer mode just stinks. i mean does anybody out there seen a trailer THAT detached from the truck? not me. plus the weapon looks too loose.

They can add as much to that trailer as they want, the armour mode still looks like crap.

For that price the trailer mode should be able to stand on it's own. I just can't help but compare it to City Commander. It works all on it's own, but it can be attached to the back of FP's trailer and still function.

I have a soft spot for PM Prime, but I just can't justify the weak alt mode.

I was there and saw this thing in person, It really isnt that bad. just the price is for me! :lol:

Yeah... no. That is ugly-looking. Besides, I got Powered Commander for my Prime.

I second this. When I first saw the prototype images, I laughed. But when I saw the thing in person, especially his updated design, it really grew on me. As for the head being blocky...well yeah. Have any of you nay-sayers seen a powermaster prime?

Not to mention the designer was in the dealer room showing it off and he was a super cool guy. He drew up some custom art for my lady-friend right there on the spot. Talking with him and picking his brain was one of the highlights of the trip for me.

Yes, but it does have some curves to it, much unlike this custom head, plus this is supposed to fit into Classics/Generations etc. the same as City Commander, so the head should fit in with the less blocky/more modern look IMO. I don't like the fact that the guns (smokestacks) on the arms aren't poseable either, at least they don't appear to be, which actually means, at least in that respect, the G1 figure is MORE articulated than the custom :lol:. Thanks but no thanks, not for $250, not even for only $50. I'll wait for someone else to do it better.
