Shame he doesn't have any painted train wheels, that was the one thing I expected of TT

But his train wheels are supposed to be purple. Just as they were on both the original Hasbro toy and the e-HOBBY prototype-accurate reissue toy.Hellscream9999 wrote:Shame he doesn't have any painted train wheels, that was the one thing I expected of TT![]()

Sorry, that's not an acceptable excuse, I expected it from hasbro, but not TT - not interested

Astrotrain has purple train wheels, both in the toys and the cartoon. It is (was?) customary for steam locomotives to have wheels in the same color as the main body. That's an extremely common thing with steam engines, and G1 Astrotrain was no exception.Hellscream9999 wrote:Sabrblade wrote:But his train wheels are supposed to be purple. But this mold has grey as the predominant color, so they could have gotten away with coloring them. So, essentially you're paying $25+ for a painted cockpit and a darker shade of grey, talk about a rip-off

Now let's all take a moment to look at this thing again and realize that the wheel panels are molded in grey, and their sin apparently *is* painting the wheels.

And now that it's been pointed out that the pieces the wheels are a part of are both gray plastic painted purple, that says to me that Takara attempted to add more purple to the train body since the original train was all purple, while at the same time maintaining the notion of the wheels being the same color as the part of the train body that they are attached to, just like on actual steam engines, the aforementioned toys, and the cartoon model.

In train mode it looks to be about even between the two colors.Hellscream9999 wrote:But this mold has grey as the predominant color,

But a quick google search shows that that only holds true for about 55% of steam engines, so....
And the fact that the train mode is about 50/50 purple and grey means that they could have gotten away with using that as an excuse either way, but didn't, because: G1

actually, comparing the two, unless there were multiple red sprues in the sentinel prime mold, I don't think there is *any* purple plastic on that astrotrain. It's all paint ops.

Likely only the guns, the shoulder-pylons, and the headmaster

Bought.......once pre-orders are in! ETA February by Takara's release dates. By the by, no amount of convincing won't be able to convince an already made up mind........just saying. One's loss is our gain I guess.

We complaining about painted train wheels now?
Thought you people hate Hasbro for not putting enough paint on their toys.
So less paint or more paint?

As I mentioned in the latest 16 sec ad comment I made in tongue in cheek, if it's not a screw exposed, it's the robot's eye squinting. TF fans just are never satisfied.

Mmmm... naaaah, can't quite see myself jumping on this. Hasbro's easily good enough for me. The painted cockpit is kind of the only thing I like about this over Takara's but it's not the greatest colour.

The Hasbro version is absolutely fine for what I look for in Astrotrain. The painted cockpits are nice I'll admit.
