Seibertron's own First Gen has reported that electronics company Toshiba have created a "Transforming Mobile Phone".

To be released in April in Japan under the name: SoftBank 815T PB., the phone is set to be featured in an upcoming Japanese TV drama called Ketai Sousakan 7.

The phone really transforms, and even has robotic face like wallpapers to add to the effect.

Cool, but pass anyway. Just because they had a cell phone become a transformer thanks to the all spark in the movie doesn't mean they literally had to go out and make one. Besides...wasn't that what the real gear was for?

Wow.

Cool concept, but the bot modes sure look like shit.

Thats a cool idea. If they put a little more work into them and i didnt just get a new cell phone i might have considered picking one up.

To cheesy not to love!

I can't see me realisticly getting one though.

However they are a step in a good direction. Just maybe nest time try putting some effort into it. If they split up the keypad, I can't see why my Razor couldn't fit into SpeedDial's body?

A phone with some flaps that fold down.

Technically, the same could be said about Musiclabel Soundwave, except Soundwave looks freakin' sweet.

What's the practical use of the extra limbs for a real-world cellphone? (Aside from taking up precious space.)

It's either they put some use into them, (like a swiss-knife kind of thing of some sort), or they design the robot to go beyond kindergarten level.

Otherwise, it's not gonna attract any substantial number of buyers.

Says you. It's clearly not marketed for the U.S. shores. Japanese culture will eat that ish up and ask for seconds.

I wonder if this phone will be overly expensive just because it's got limbs.

:-? I don't know i'd be curious as well. I would hope not though. Extra limbs would'nt justify an insane price increase.

If they give the phone a twist capability at the hinges, just like some nokia phones, it will be fun to pose them.

Take 2 phones, black and white. And pose them punching each other. Like in a boxing ring. B-)

Why a mad face?

Granted these are crappy, but sometimes crappy works!

These are the B-Move Camp items of this generation, and a prelude to a real phone that can actualy walk up to you when you get a call and are in the other room.

I agree they could have done better, but still they are to hoaky not to like :D

How about a pda-bot? The limbs will be useful. Make him stand while you watch video on it.

I would actually get a cellphone if one transformed.

It will be quite annoying to use the phone when the joints eventually loosen up.

One of the legs may accidentally fall out and kick your face during an important business call.

Until now I have been perfectly content with my old school, no frills, "brick" style phone. I would actually get one of these if they make it to the U.S. Lots of folks seem to be ragging on these like they are a serious product but for Primus' sake people, pull the stick out and enjoy it for the goofy fusion of novelty and function that it actually is. No top level exec. type is gonna buy 'em and if I get one I'll be thrilled if the sound is half-way decent. It looks like fun and it will make folks do a double take.
My own cell phone has the G1 "transformation" sound as a ring-tone (amongst other G1 stuff, like Prime speaking)and the Autobot logo for wallpaper, so imagine the fun of that on an actual transforming phone.

I like that it would go with Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional Edition. :P
