if the rumors anout UW shuttle mode Blastoff getting a us release are true, then you can kick CW jet Blastoff off of your Bruticus, pair him up with Offroad and toss them onto Starscream.

Do we have any proof that PotP is ending after Wave 4? That and I wonder if there is anything new in that wave or if it's repack-and-one-new-figure (which makes me damn glad I don't intend to chase down Novastar becasue Slugslinger was a P A I N to chase down at retail)? Is that reallly it for Potp?

Edit: Btw I may be in the minority but I actually think this Optimal Optimus is looking quite nice. It was never intended to be a 1:1 remake of the original toy and I'm fine with the compromises it take given that beside the new gimmick they fully committed to keeping it's overall design very close to the original. Plus, in spite of how little he used in in the show, the robot and beast mode were always the main attraction for a Beast Wars figure. And, oh man, does he look like one.

Hmmm. some of the bots on the wave is missing, Flywheels and other Duocons were missing in this wave.

And i just realized Novastar was a redeco of Moonracer with only the head retool.

I just can't seem them ending the theme at wave 4. I can see Inferno just being a single figure with no limbs designed for him, but if it ends at wave 4, then only two of the five Voyagers would be complete combiners. I think we probably do get a final wave with two Decepticons to complete King Screamer and one Autobot to complete Elita InfinONEte.

No. The inner Primal turns into a skateboard for the larger monkey mode.

Combined they form the full Optimal Optimus Robot Mode.

As much as people complained about retool abuse in CW, I'd say it would be a serious shame if those new Dinobot and Terrorcons molds aren't reused for Piranacon and Monstructor. The two of which seem sadly less and less plausible, especially since they scrapped those big boxset halfway into Titans Return.

It's a shame because these are both combiners which are well within the possibility of (relatively) cheap engineering. Especially since we've seen that Hun-Gurr shares a skeleton with Silverbolt. Snaptrap would have been plausible out of Grimlock or Hun-Gurr, really. The rest of the Seacons are a joke to retool compared to that. Alas, it seems unlikely unless they announce them in Wave 5. Which may not even exist.

As for those wondering why I was hoping so much for Piranacon and Monstructor: I grew up with Beast Wars toys, especially those from season 2 onward. Mechanical animal and monsters are my jam so you can imagine how much I wish I could build whole combiner themes of these kind of figures.

To the child in me, they're the coolest stuff ever. Even the lackluster (by comparison) Dinobots of PotP have been a blast.

Just found the Wave 2 deluxes (minus Blackwing) at a Wal-Mart in Evansville, IN for $16.82.






I picked up the Rippersnapper, but didn't have the money or desire to get the Dinobots.

I do have to wonder if PotP is suffering from the same fate as parts of Titans Return (like boxsets), where they had a lot planned for the line, but were forced to trim back by corporate decisions. Though nothing is confirmed yet, there is a lot of evidence for big plans being made as well as evidence for the line ending sooner than anyone expected. This also reminds me of the planned Fan Club. Has anyone had the chance to ask the design team about the Transformers Fan Club? I don't know how much they're allowed to say, but some closure on a lot of loose ends would be very welcome. "Where there actually four planned box sets?" "Were the special addition figures leftover from those supposed to be released by the club?" "Any chance of releasing other cancelled figures in the near future (I really want a Godbomber)?" I know the designed team can be very tight-lipped, but there's no harm in asking.

Generations (or at least PotP) getting screwed over wouldn't leave such a sour taste in my mouth if it was scrapped for something good. However, all signs point to more crummy shelf-warming Rid-grade trash. I do wonder if Transformers 5 and Star Wars 8 under performing (and their toys too) isn't what's crippling the other Hasbro things.

See, I hear people whine about even the modern Generations toys but here's the thing: to me it's not that the new stuff look 'cartoony'. Animated looked like a cartoon but it had good design and toy engineering. It's not the esthetic choice, it's the clear im-not-trying factor. Generations figures may have many pitfall, like a lack of more advanced articulation (good luck finding wrist articulation on any figure and even more good luck finding a waist swivel on anything bigger than a deluxe!) but they at least look like someone genuinely tried to design a good-looking, modernized take on a pre-existing character. Sure you get a few details that stink (looking at you, crappy stickers) but for the most part the Prime War trilogy figures generally skewed toward decent-looking.

And then you got these blocky, deformed....things....with single color plastic, even less paint apps than a modern Generation toy and even less articulation. And these horrors are sold at the same price point! Yeah, sure, business are cheap. Business want to make money. I get that. But can anyone honestly tell me anything recent that wasn't a Generations toy looked even remotely appealing? Again, I need to re-iterate: not because of the esthetic.

Edit: Okay and some TF5 toys looked decent. But, again, for every Barricade and Nitro Zeus you get crap like One Step Changers. Do kids even buy those?

So does Sinnertwin just recycle Dreadwind's gun? Because I half expected him to come with Wolfwire's cannon, since it looked so much more like a cross between his handheld rocket launcher and back-cannon than Weirdwolf's original gun.

Oh well, if so many Wolfwires had their back flaps break off, I should probably invest in a spare anyway...or see if I can get broken one cheap.

Just saw the Predaking pics, I can see why there are complaints, but honestly the toy looks fun to play with. I am still looking forward to playing with it. And with all that I'm not a big fan of Elite, or that moo racer, that red deco looks fantastic. So now my wallet is cursing me, if I intend to get one, I'll want the rest to complete the group. Damn.

Um, am I seeing things wrong or does Bludgeon come with some sort of club that turns into a barrel for his weapon mode instead of a sword? Did they think Bludgeon uses a club because of its name?

So Bombstrike is probably a retool of Skullgrin or at the very least uses the same claw weapon. I hope IF the exclusive Blast Off comes with a shell for Megatronus they use a different one, maybe something that actually looks like the Requiem Blaster.

The Predacons don't even come with a sword for Predaking? Normally I'd say that the Takara version would be an instant buy but we know that's not the case anymore.

Well, nertz. Star Saber's a perfect candidate for the Evolution gimmick, and it's not like they'd have to make him a psycho like in IDW.

I would have loved a star saber in this evolution gimmick but alas it was not meant to be apparently. Though I'm curious is primal getting put out on his own or is one of the other leaders being re-released alongside him.

Also I share yourhope for the other duocon and I think it would be neat if you could mix and match with them...wouldn't be that hard to pull off right?

Ok, so Star Sabre does work well with the gimmick and thats probably why he was part of that contest for the next prime. But since he wasnt picked by the fan community, we wont get him in this line.

And Primal will be shipping with Wave 1 Rodimus Prime.

My main negative is that they dont change anything about his forearms between modes. Nope, was never said. And while the fact that they already announced the next trilogy usually means that the end for the current line is near, we are stil missing several prime masters to get all 12, so there should be an extra wave coming at least to finish those off.

Yeah, thought the same way. I actually only like Rampage out of all their alt modes. I sold my KO feral Rex to make space for this guy and while the combined mode looks more stable and easier to pose, those alt modes are not better. Not at all. G1 still has better alt modes than any other Predaking since, official or not.

Amid all of the Toyfair excitement, we have some awesome sightings news thanks to EmirateXaaron. Power of the Primes wave 2 figures were found at Wal-Mart in Evansville, IN for $16.82. EmirateXaaron was kind enough to send us a few images of them so that we can see Sludge, Snarl and Rippersnapper in all of their glory. While Blackwing was not found on this particular shelf he is in this wave also. If you would like to see a review of Blackwing, click here!

Just asked the TT marketing staff and they said ptimus Primal HASN'T got a ground attack mode. It's only got three modes (robot, gorilla and jet).

Isn't Divebomb A retool of Swoop (the head) but enlarged? looks neat with his DAMN WINGS?

Btw: - We just found out, from one of the Takara directors of the event, that there was a mistake. The BADGELESS version of MP Lambor is for sale at TT Mall, but the figure on display is the Anime version (with the badge). I hope this is helpful for anyone ordering them.

Brand Unification is at an all time high, not only are Hasbro and Takara releasing the exact same figures for the Transformers Power of the Primes line but they are revealing them on the very same day (depending on your time zone). We have posted a gallery of all that was shown on the Hasbro side of things today and now, at the other end of the world, fellow Seibertronian Primalxconvoy attended Japan's Wonderfest 2018 and snapped images of these same figures. The big deal here is that they are indeed the same figures.

We get our first look at Takara's POTP Terrorcons and they are listed as PP-21 through PP-25. Along with Predaking listed as PP-31, this confirms that all these combiners will be in the Power of the Primes line, and thus exactly the same as Hasbro, rather than being released in a Unite Warriors line. While it may sound obvious looking at all that has happened so far, there was some hope that the G1 combiners would get a different release in the East, to at least match releases of previous classic combiners like Superion and Computron (Abominus' rival).

But it won't be the case. That does however mean any fan who has an easier time getting the Hasbro product won't have to wait.

The showfloor also had grey models for Optimal Optimus and Predaking, so that's something we didn't see at Toyfair.

Onto the pictures ... looking at Predaking like that, he doesn't look so bad after all in terms of design. Maybe Toy Fair was mistransformed, posed at a dodgy angle, or something else to make him look off.

Here is my position with this new Optimus Primal.

I'm not happy with what I'm seeing. Particularly with the gray cockpit chest.

It just looks wrong. If Hasbro has released Leader class Evolution Optimus Prime with his front chest colored any color other than red, with zero attempts at justification for the color change beyond "It's part of this toy's newness", I doubt many would have been that content with it.

And, frankly, I don't really feel that much need for this toy. I currently still own the original Optimal Optimus toy, plus the Masterpiece of Season 1 Primal, and the Beast Wars 10th Anniversary retool of the original Ultra class toy with the show-accurate robot head and gorilla face/robot chest, and the Beast Wars Telemocha Series version of the RobotMasters mold with its show-accurate deco. Not to mention both the Hasbro and Takara versions of the Transmetal Optimus Primal toy with its perfect hoverboarding gorilla mode.

So, what appeal is there, for me personally, towards this new toy that any of the six aforementioned other toys of Primal that I already own don't already cover?

Full disclosure: I ask this as though I were speaking to Hasbro itself, not to us fans.
