Grimlock and Bee both look good, but for some reason I thought Bee was going to use the 3-step mold. I wonder if all the main season 1 cast will get super modes.

Whoa, what's up with that last little flap on Grimlock? Is that new to the mold or have I been living a lie? Actually he appears to have a few extra pivot point on his dino neck as well.

I'm also loving the new rubsign favicon on the internet tab.

Sadly Grimmy still has a hole in his dino mode stomach, but I expected that would be the case so no points lost.

I actually have stayed away from looking at this transformation in hope that I dont spoil a possible surprise. Now that you mention something that may be new, I am really tempted to spoil it for myself and see what you are talking about. Sounds super interesting. Do you guys think this is the best remold we have ever gotten? Or does Generations Sandstorm still win that title?

That's a hard call. I own Sandstorm and Springer and they are standing next to each other. Most of the time Sandstorm just looks like a yellow and orange Springer. They did do some really awesome retool/remolds on SS though and them VTOLs are most epic.

Most of the changes on Battle Grimlock seems to be the head. Looks like a new head, new neck movement (seems to be just for transformation) and a flap that I don't recognize.

I do believe that best retool/remold would make for some lively debate though. Maybe a top 5 list if you haven't done one yet.

If you own FoC Grims, no spoilers here. If not, avoid like the plague.

Well Cary, you see right through me. yes indeed as with most of my questions, this is for an eventual top 5 list. I just look for some affirmation here and there and most of all I look for things I didnt think about. Like Lance Henriksen for best celeb guest voices. How could I forget :BANG_HEAD:

But yeah, I have a list going on and its pretty strong, will make for a great discussion. I was just wondering if there were any you had in mind. The tail is totally retooled too.

And I do have FOC grimlock but the G1 version that came with silver Prime from target. For some reason, it sold in canada at the regular price of 16$. Thats paying for the deluxes and getting a free voyager. So I picked it up and I must say I dont mind that grimlock. I hate the plastic and the tail, and the flimsiness but its not a bad design. I have seen far far worse tfs (that is also a list on its own).

Oh and speaking of grimlocks, I tried making a top 5 grimlock toys but that didnt work. It was MP Grimlock as number 1 and then everything else was an honourable mention. While Megatrons and Optimus prime toys are usually the best of a line, it's not the same for Grimlock, he doesnt have too many great toys.

Actually there's a lot more changes than that on this guy. His robot shoulders, hips, chest, and knees are different as well. There's probably more stuff that I'm missing though.

Hey ya! Too bad it doesn't "get rubbed" when you hover on it. :-P

Just fiddled with my FoC Grim to compare. It looks to me that almost every surface has been re-sculpted except his robo forearms / Dino lower leg.
I have the same FoC that Will mentioned. Was the plastic that bad on all versions of that mold?
I hope Takara traded up the cost of the electronics for better plastic. If not, like his FoC brethren, he'll still look great.

I meant as far as transformations spoilers go. Most of the surfaces seems to have been retooled, but transformation wise, it doesn't seem that much has changed.

I have the standard vanillia FoC Grimsy. I've never noticed a plastic issue, but my collection is mostly new stuffs anyway, so I don't really have much to compare too. I think he is a cool bot with nice aesthetics. But I do think Battle Grimlock did it better. Honestly, it kinda looks like the mold was meant for him or they based the animation model off it.

I guess what I mean is; good job Takara :APPLAUSE:

Hasbro typically uses cheaper plastic on "minor" store exclusives, especially the movie stuff. The FOC Grimlock has sturdy plastic, but the one G1 repaint Target exclusive I saw had the neck snapped right off the body in the sealed package. I imagine the chrome will be flaking off in the coming years.

FoC Grimlock is honestly my favorite Grimlock mold. i love that guy so much. His robot mode just screams bulk, muscle and anger issues, and the dino-mode with light up jaws and eyes is really cool too. They picked a winner to me to retool into RiD Grimlock :BOT:

I highly suggest you look at local thrift shops, church sales and yard sales wherever you are to try to come across some cheap toys from the Cybertron series just so you can feel the difference in plastic and overal construction. It is really worthwhile and I think you would have a lot of fun with them. The transformation schemes are more along the lines of the current RID line but with a lot more heft and paint apps with the most traditional Japanese TF aesthetic I have ever seen for mainline toys released stateside. I hope you can experience the likes of Jetfire, Vector Prime or Landmine one day (just to name a few).

Oh wow, I decided to watch the video and yeah, that entire beast head transformation is totally new and far more involved (3 steps instead of one). The plastic looks nice and sturdy too :)

I do have a major problem with his feet being grey. Don know why they couldnt have just used the same black plastic they use in the tip of his tail.

Probably because of this:

THANKS! That is still a bit too much grey in my opinion. That amount does not repesent what the animation model is going for too well.

Grimlock looks really good, except for the giant fat tail; they couldn't figure out a way to adapt the RID version's tail-to-foot transformation? It worked so well!
