TVShowsonDVD.com has posted a Paramount Press release for the first season of Transformers: Animated, announced earlier at the year at Botcon. The press release states that the release will be a two disc set that will be released on August 19th. As previously stated, this release will NOT contain the three episode “Transform and Roll Out” premiere episode, to be released on DVD separately on June 17th. You can view the press release here.

More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

...WTF, you have to buy Transform and Roll Out seperately!
Hardly a "complete" first season!

So it will be released around the same time as the toys then?

True but this is Paramount we're talking about here. A company known for releasing hit movies from 5-15 years ago (films like Braveheart, Face/Off, The Untouchables, and others) and just now releasing them on 2-Disc DVDs with a few more special features than their standard one disc versions (which cost $20 USA).

On the old one disc versions maybe you basically got the trailers as the special features and maybe a commentary track (as in the case of Braveheart).

So 13 episodes spread over 3 discs, with Disc 1 only containing the 3 part opening?

At least it shouldn't take up too much shelf space then.
