Got my throne primal today, haven't transformed him yet, but his bot mode is kinda glorious, gonna get the standard release if I find him for retail price, but this is fun in that it's something different.
Also got inferno after seeing so many pics of him looking great; I think its the really wide feet, they make him look way more proportionate

Alright, had some time to mess around with everyone, optimal is indeed glorious, and a must have in my opinion, just for all the crazy and fun ways that he can combined, he really took the gimmick to its limit.
Out-fer-yes is - grudgingly - pretty good too. The nicely tight thigh joints (thanks to the remolding) allow him to hold a pose a little better than hotspot ever could, and I like the colors better. Hate to say that out-fer-yes has silver paint splotched all over his eyebrows and his combined mode headcrest is assembled backwards

Not gonna lie, I'm turning more and more green seeing how much everyone is enjoying Primal. I'm normally pretty lucky with these things, so I guess it's my turn to be left out in the cold.

Apparently he will be double-packed in wave 4 and also be in wave 3, which means that everyone should be able to find one if stores keep stocking the leader class figures

Oh, I have. 2019 is a long time to wait when your whole MO is reviewing new toys. Total first world problem, I know. But one that is frustrating me to no end the last few days.

I have no problem waiting until Jan. I'm waiting for reviews to come in to see if I really want it. But I'm an unapologetic G1 fan who never watched BW...so this is not high on my list.

Gotta admit, it's kinda cool having 12/13 primemasters, might get onyx, if I can find predaking on discount.

I was fortunate enough to find those 2 at Walmart. There's one Target near me that have had them for a few weeks, at least last I checked. It's the one in Burlington, NJ for anyone looking.

There's some class meta-humor about how optimal was totally just a spiffy backpack on a gorilla, that taking said backpack off leaves the gorilla totally unfazed, while the backpack becomes even spiffier

On his new toy it's not a bug, it's a feature! You get a functionnal Optimal Optimus toy with a bonus 'cybertronian mode' (or actionmaster if you're feeling saucy!) Optimus Primal which approximate what he looked before scanning his organic gorilla mode.
I plan to get both the regular and SDCC/Throne version and the regular version will most likely be modded so I can separate both figures while the Throne will remain intact as the 'Evolution'/combining gimmick is more visually palatable with a unified scheme.

So, infinity gauntlet style, which 4 primemasters would you use if you had it? Mine are A3, Vector prime, quintus, and alchemist.

Both options are cool and doable, even if the smaller Primal would need a bit more tweaking to the design, as an accurate representation of that form would require to 'reshell' Primal. The easier solution would be simply a new chest, head and altered shoulders for a rough representation.
As for Duocon/Mega Pretender Oilmaster it would be really, really cool to see and is a custom idea I've proposed before. Ideally I think the more jet-ish part would need to be scrapped and a the more mechanical parts would need some fur molded via green stuff/putty with the gorilla chest and the forearms being the best area to add fur.
He's got, IMO, the most 'play value' of all three leader molds. He's got more modes and each component can function as a fully-formed figure
