Since I've been MIA with galleries due to me working on the massive overhaul redesign of Seibertron.com, just though I'd thrown in my two cents on a few figures real quick.

Broadside ... love the robot mode and aircraft carrier mode, but what did they do to his jet mode? Could they seriously not figure out how to make the legs look like a jet in jet mode by either compacting the legs via transformation or something? Ugh ... it's a shame that triplechangers continue to have a problem with at least one mode. Robot mode is great. Would love to have had his axe though to go with him.

Gnaw ... why did the top half of the "shark" mode's head have to attach to his feet? It seems like if they had kept the mouth opening concept from the G1 toy, that the toy wouldn't look so flat and hollow on its upper back. Other than that, I like the toy, just seems like they over complicated it by having the top half of his shark head attaching to his legs. The only thing I can think of is this was done as a balancing issue, that he was too top heavy with the shark head on the upper back.

Hot Rod ... still not digging him. It really bothers me that his upper arms block the yellow crest or whatever it's called, which is a signature part of the character. Not sure what they could have done different but I'm not a fan of blocking the yellow crest. Also, the Titan Master's arms look odd on Hot Rod's rounded shaped head. Other than that, he's a decent figure. Just feel like some of Hot Rod's identifying silhouette features weren't cared for with this design.

Sky Shadow ... he looks awesome and makes me really excited for Overlord. I like the update to the character and he looks really sharp to me. I'm not a fan of the gun combined gimmick simply because mine doesn't stay attached that well (it falls apart at the slightest bump). While Overlord looks fantastic and I love that he seems to be even more of a "partsformer" than Sky Shadow (c'mon Omega Supreme!!!), I'm still really bummed that Overlord isn't a Powermaster. Yah, it's cool that he can store two heads in his chest, but still not feeling it since he only comes with one Titan Master. I'd love for them to come out with an IDW styled face but with the other Titan Master (Giga?). I'd like to see Sky Shadown recolored as Thunderwing please!

Quickswitch ... I loved his CGI model with the square head. Really bummed he got cheaped out on and has Sixshot's helmet. Hopefully they'll correct this with a singular release of him, or (gasp!) hopefully a 3rd party company will come out with a corrected piece, because this one is driving me crazy. Really wish Hasbro would connect the dots that saving a buck on a piece like this just opens the door for a 3rd party company to sell a new product to appease fans. I just wish they'd do it right, especially since it looks like they were going to do it right at some point! Urgh.

I love this line and I'm amazed at how well the concept is working for the entire line. From my experience as an owner of a big Transformers site, it seems like fans in general have a very positive view of this line overall, which is fantastic and really fun to see. Hasbro has done an overall really nice job with this line, just wish a few of these issues I mentioned above would have been addressed before a product hit retail.

Thanks for your thoughts Ryan! ;)^

And yeah, the gun combining gimick for Skyshadow is not solid and it looks silly when held in his hands. I just keep the drone part as a shield on one arm and havine him carry the gun in his other hand.

He is the exact Bee toy I have been waiting for for my Classics/Gen shelves for over two decades. Right scale, right look, right transformation. If someone told me I had to take all the other Bee's off that shelf but one, he would probably be the one who stayed.
though I DO love Classics Bee

So much this! I know a LOT of us fans are sick and tired of so many Bumblebee iterations over the years, but THIS is finally the one we've been waiting for. He's "Classics." He's G1. He's the right size. He's got a great held sculpt. His transformation is updated yet familiar. Titans Return Bumblebee should be on everyone's "Transformers Classics/neo-G1" shelf!

Now, we wait patiently for a similar breakthrough for old Cliffjumper.

-Topspin and Twintwist
-Kup and Perceptor
-Broadside
-Legends Brawn

Hoping to get all the deluxes beyond wave three, but money is an issue.
Yays, nays?

Broadside is a nay while Perceptor and Sixshot are quite weak compared to the rest.

Yay for Topsspin, twinTwist and Kup :x

Kurona wrote:I'm at an impasse concerning the Jumpstarters. Ideally I'd get both but money's tight so I don't want to double up on characters I don't exactly have a connection to.

I thought you would be all over them due to their connection (and most intense scene ever) in Last Stand of the Wreckers.

SureShot18 wrote:On another note, what does everyone think is the best Legends in TR? I only have Rewind, Gnaw, and Kickback but of the three I think I have to give it to Kickback. But Rewind is no slouch, especially with my bias, and Gnaw is ridiculously lovely.

Those 3 are very good but I would also suggest Bumblebee. He's super cute and quite a fun little guy to transform. he does have a major flaw of not having a clear windshield which you can tell was the initial plan 9since now you cant tell a small figure is sitting in him). If you can loot past that, then get him.

Oh, I also really like Wheelie, even though he doesnt hold as well together. By far the most complex Legends figure of this line and he has a great looking robot mode.

I was fine with the Previous two.

The Bumblebee I'm "waiting for" is a decent representation of the 2007 Movie 1970's Camero Bee.

Broadside is pretty okay with me. His robot mode is great. His aircraft carrier mode is pretty good. Unfortunately, mine came with already creased and peeling stickers. The jet mode is a disaster, but some unofficial fan transformations help a bit.

I just got Sixshot too, and I love him! I don't know why so many people are disappointed. Yeah, most of the modes don't "tab in" everywhere, but the joints on mine are tight enough that he holds his shape no problem, no matter the alt mode. His knees are just a little loose, but not so much that he flops over. He's a solid 8/10 for me.

I don't have Perceptor yet. What makes him "weak" in your opinion? From the in hand pictures and video reviews I've seen, he looks terrific. The extra G1 aspect of him turning into a microscope again really has me intrigued, despite loving how well his Reveal the Shield mold turned out several years ago.

Well, this is a "G1/Classics" thread, so I'm speaking from a G1/Classics perspective. More power to you if you like Live Action Movie Bumblebee, though.

I also wanted to give a thumbs up for sixshot. He's everything I have wanted in an update for him. Plus he can keep his Titan master head on throughout the transformation, which is an awesome bonus in this line, much like sky shadow and, presumably, overlord.

Didn't enjoy LSOTW that much. I respect it for the fantastic story it is but it's not quite my thing and I didn't feel particularly connected to a lot of the characters.

First off, right on on the TR Bee thing. Gimme some paw! ;)
Second, agree with you on Six Shot.

But about Perceptor. You know I'm pretty easy going, accepting of flaw, and generally positive about 99% of these toys, and while by no means is Perceptor terrible, there is something off about him. The robot mode looks good. His legs are a little wiggly due to transformation joints, but nothing that can't be dealt with. Microscope mode looks just right, and the vague/not vague inclusion of the tank mode is great. But there are some moving parts that have no explanation. He feels incomplete in some strange way that's hard to pin down. I'm beginning to suspect he is a victim of the back and forth that happens between the money men/execs and the design team in most corporate creative endeavors. His design raises a lot of questions for me.

I think you'll like him Jake, he is very Neo G1 almost to the point of no "Neo". Once you get him, let us know what you think, and if any part of him raises questions for you. :D

I'll 2nd the lsotw comment. Didn't do it for me either really and still feel really disconnected since it seemed to really resonate with other fans and not me. Not sure if it was the cartoonist art style, verity, not being the wreckers I remember growing up with from marvel uk, them seeming kind of like Dinobots gone wrong, or what, but it just wasn't my thing for whatever reason.

The dilemma? I remember having Twin Twist (or maybe one of his many KOs?) as a kid, probably from a car boot sale or something; so I wanna get him because nostalgia. ... buuuut, Top Spin looks infinitely cooler. Help :HEADHURTS:

Nah, just 20% cooler ;)

Twin Twist is still rather unique with his drill tank alt mode, in fact I can only think these others:

- G1 Zetar aka Drill Dasher
- G1 Nosecone
- Victory Drillhorn / Rescue Force 3
- Zone Drillbuster
- Armada Drill Bit
- Cybertron Drill Bit
- Cybertron Menasor
- CW Nosecone
- UW Nosecone

... compared to the multitude of jets, Cybertronian or not.

Very, very true; Twin Twist would absolutely have an alt-mode that stands out and sets him apart. Something I hadn't considered.

... on the other hand, I am an absolute bloody sucker for Cybertronian jets when done well. And Top Spin definitely goes under 'done well'.
In a perfect world I'd get both and I love how both look, but goddamn is this world far from perfect :HEADHURTS:

For me it's not really a question of quality - I still think it's a fantastic piece of work and it excelled in what it set out to do. I'm just not a fan of things that are that gritty and dark :P MTMTE/LL strikes the right balance for me.

Oh, you.

Legends figures? I'll also agree with Bumblebee being really solid! I've owned the Classics Bumblebee mold twice (my original Classics broke and I ended up replacing it with RTS Bee), and while they were a pretty good size for old Classics, TR Bee is pretty fantastic in any new-Generations display. Smaller to fit with the more "compact" figure sizes, really well-engineered and good QC from what I can tell, and aside from those window-bicep-spikes he looks pretty fab in both modes. And Wolfman Jake is right, his headsculpt is fantastic and spot-on (despite suffering ever-so-slightly from dull surprise, he still does a better job dealing with that than the MP did).

But I also do have to toss another vote in for Wheelie. As one of the people who seemingly got a "good copy", i.e. one that actually almost holds together, I really must say that the design of that toy is just fantastic. It may not be such a popular pick any more (I remember it was back in Wave 1, but we have way more figures to choose from now) but I still think he's among some of TR's best toys - provided you get a decently solid one I suppose.

Kurona wrote:Actually yeah, I'm wondering... of the 6 Voyager molds we have so far, what does everyone feel about them? I've only got Megatron and I adore him, but what about Galvatron, Trion, Sentinel/Astro, Broad and Prime/Tankor? How do they rank against Megs if you've got him?

In order of the ones I have:

Alpha Trion
...
...
...
Astrotrain
Megatron
Galvatron

Galvatron is the weakest by a significant mile, and the voyager I've played with the least.

TR Megatron is sort of close but the fact that it took a full 2 hours to get the legs to work for alt modes and then another 2 weeks to get it to do consistently was a headache. and his modes feel very weak to me.

Astrotrain is pretty good, but the train mode feels real weak.

Alpha Trion has a pretty cool ship mode, but the lion mode is the best alt mode of any voyager figure so far that I own, and the paintwork is marvelous, as in puts all other voyagers to complete shame. And there are no shoddy stickers or large areas of gray to upset the balance.

Amen to both. The stickers are pathetic and the gray is... no. Combiner Wars Megs nailed the paint job and the colors. TR desperately needed the CW Megs colors and paint

Kurona wrote:I haven't liked the pylons either, I tried it on Megatron and it just looks... odd.

The pylons are really it or miss on some of these. They're kinda pointless on Sentinel, but they work for Astrotrain since he had them in the cartoon. They look good on Alpha Trion (and Leo Prime) since it works as a headdress. Prime's are necessary since they're his ears, but they're pointless and kinda awful on Octone. Can take or leave Broadside's since they're I guess weapons, they're just kinda there. Blitzwing's I'm undecided on, he had them in the cartoon, but probably looks better without them.

It's nice that they're optional anyway. Then there's Galvatron...

Emerje

With regards to the pylons and head pieces for voyagers, only Alpha Trion has really nailed it. I don't like the Galva-helmet, Astrotrain doesn't use his pylons, and neither does Megs. They don't look good.
Kurona wrote:Was Classics Astrotrain not good?

But yeah nah, I didn't own T30 Blitzwing but everywhere I went said it was a QC-ridden mess. And the alt-modes really don't do it any favours. I think the TR mold I have now is a straight improvement.

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh, gotta disagree.

See earlier comments in this post. I don't like that TR tank/jet mold, and I actually like T30 Blitz. The shoulders are a bit of a flop, but they are almost on par with the TR legs, and Blitz pulls off better modes in my opinion.

Unless you really really really want a Sixshot just cause, avoid him. Place him lower on the priorities. the mold is a disappointment, easily the weakest leader I've ever handled, and I have many.

Rewind by far. Easily the legends class figure I've had the most fun with since Swerve, and he is a perfect little triple changer. Loads of fun. Gnaw is cute in sharkticon mode, but robot mode is mostly junk. Laserbeak and Ravage are sort of forgettable. Wheelie is pretty cool, but Rewind beats him up cause Rewind actually holds together in alt mode.
william-james88 wrote:I thought you would be all over them due to their connection (and most intense scene ever) in Last Stand of the Wreckers.

Main reason why I am excited for them. I am finally getting my Wreckers dream team, and they are killing it. Wave 4 has 3 wreckers alone (4 if you count Perceptor, but he is headed for the Lost Light shelf). Really Hasbro, why can't we get a non-crap non-FoC Impactor to go with the team?
