Actually there's a bunch of options out there. These sets come out next year and are very affordable (especially compared to the expensive iGear set that a lot of people didn't like).
Extreme Sets Pop-up Diorama Headquarters (purple)
Extreme-Sets Pop-up Diorama Control Center (orange)
(These can be made up to 12" tall and 10' wide!)
X2 Toys - BG-A Autobot background
X2 Toys - BG-AP Decepticon Base Background
(These you can connect multiple sets together. Some of their upgrade kits come with compatible parts. I'm guessing they have more parts coming.)

Since I have a Springer already, guess I'll try to track down a Sandstorm to complete the group when this guy comes out.

The more I look at Broadside, the more I think this:
- the jet mode reminds me of Brave Exkizer Dyno Guyst (Dino Geist) in jet mode, with how the legs are positioned.
- good to see he has more steps than 1. stand him upright 2. make a sandwich

With Alpha Trion in hand making comparisons it's pretty impressive how few parts he and Broadside share. From what I can tell it's just the feet, outer half of the lower legs with the hinged panel, and the upper arms and elbows along with some other assorted joints and probably the internal mechanism (I'm guessing you push on the glass on his chest to pop the things up on the sides of his head).

He's really cool, his plane mode could've been better but I have enough jets and not enough air craft carriers lol.
Wonder if there'll be a new springer and sand storm, I was perfectly happy with the thrilling 30s versions but what with new Astro train and the likelihood of a new octane and blitzwing... I have gone from resenting hasbro releasing new versions of characters I already have in my generations collection to wanting new figures given the TR treatment. Since combiner wars, they seem to have improved quite a bit in design I feel.
Besides the iffy jet mode, my other criticism of broadside is that I'd have loved a leader size consodering his aircraft carrier mode... also, my sixshot needs someone to take him on.
Though, the micro aerialbots is such a great touch it makes up a bit for that...

Broadside is definitely on my wish list. The little Aerialbots are a really nice touch, I love that they did that.
(...remember when we were arguing if he was Broadside or Tidal Wave?)

I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't a new Springer or Sandstorm coming soon since it seems they're just doing the last few Triple Changers who haven't yet gotten the Voyager class treatment (Astrotrain, Octane/Tankor, Broadside), along with a new Voyager Blitzwing being done due to all the problems with the previous Voyager Blitzwing.frogbat wrote:Wonder if there'll be a new springer and sand storm, I was perfectly happy with the thrilling 30s versions but what with new Astro train and the likelihood of a new octane and blitzwing... That Broadside is a very handsome toy.

I sure do. A retooled Tidal Wave's not out of the cards though, if Getaway is any indication, there may be a second face plate with that particular tooling.

And in the meantime, HasbroToyShop.com STILL has TR Soundwave up on their site, but NOT available! What a tease...

Yeah, ever since HTS updated their website, I've stopped shopping there. You can't see if there is anything in stock, and if you try to organize the items by newest a bunch of AOE figures pop up. It just isn't user friendly and really sucks for mobile users.

Is Broadsides head painted that lighter color or is it molded in that color? It looks painted.

Thanks to Ross and all of you (!), I may roll the dice on hunting down Trypticon there when the time comes since I hadn't planned on picking him up.....

I had recently seen all of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals on Fort Max for between $75 and $90 but wasn't in a rush for those prices as I had already purchased the retail version back in late June from my local TRU and the SDCC exclusive from the Hasbro Toy Shop at the convention. Still I wanted another retail version for display/diorama purposes and was hoping for Costco to carry him for somewhere around $70 like they had previously done in 2013 for Metroplex. I also read on this thread that each Ross was possibly only carrying two per store. The next evening after work I made a stop at the most high traffic, people refuse to make their badass kids clean up after they've opened up and played with every toy, unlikely Ross location in Oceanside, not expecting anything because I had already called two other locations in the area and they did not have any. To my surprise, amongst the throngs of kids in the toy section and items scattered about, I found two minty boxed Fort Maxes (is it Maxes or Max' for plural?) I bought both to save them from those abusive children. I know it sounds like greed but I plan on keeping the SDCC version MIB (plus that one has an outer cover that Transformer Design Manager John Warden personally autographed and sketched a portrait of Optimus Prime for me), the first retail version I purchased will also stay MIB, one of the Ross purchased ones will go on display and my nephew will have a wonderful Christmas.

That's a great find! I've been to three Ross locations so far and haven't found him yet. I've also been checking neighboring TJ Maxx and Marshalls stores just in case, no dice, barely any Transformers to be found at all. I've got the day off work tomorrow so I can actually get some decent hunting in.

That was a different debate. Sigma is talking about the debate over whether the original leaked figure we saw before the official reveal was of Broadside or Tidal Wave based on certain people mistaking certain details on the head as Tidal Wave's (despite the body clearly being Broadside's).
The debate from the rumor list comes from the box sets listing both Shockwave and Tidal Wave and whether or not Shockwave is a mistake from the Chinese rumor source since Tidal Wave was called Shockwave in Japan.

Bought my Soundwave yesterday at the local "ToysXL" in the Netherlands. So Soundwave hits retail in the US at the same time as it does in Europe it seems. Europe's keeping up pretty well this time.
