Of note is that this fan translation made a conscious effort to use the Hasbro names in place of all Takara names, hence Laserwave, Convoy, and Convoy Grand Prime being referred to as "Shockwave", "Optimus Prime", and "Optimus Maximus" instead.

That seems fairly self-evident and NOT worth special note.

I guess I had to read it a second time after the shock of the strip's other contents had worn off, but Vector Sigma telling Optimus, "You have lived and died too many times," is just so damn funny cuz' it's so damn true...

If there's anyone in the EU looking for a relatively cheap Grand Galvatron: http://www.marktplaats.nl/a/verzamelen/ ... =lr&pos=31
Dutch website, but the Guy's legit. I bought 4 UW's from him.

The stench of overly aggressive feminism in this translation is stifling.

Terrible writing, really, really sexist feeling.
But I kinda love it. Not the sexist part, obviously, but I love how you have them using ridiculous attacks on all the Decepticons. Lunaclub being an overtly-aggressive fangirl on Starscream, Trickdiamond bullying and coercing Thrust into summoning Unicron for her own goals, Flowspade having a blast using Roller and Breakdown into boxing gloves, and Moonheart giving them- well, let's say Erector would be proud.
Honestly I just love the craziness of these girls.

Wouldnt it be up to people of the female gender to decide if its sexist or not? Kurona, Jelze, do you have any opinion?
I find it a bit degrading that we have a comic with fun female villains taking the lead and being awesome, and the first thing men say is "sexist". Its like putting down something that could instead be hailed as more fiction involving females within a very (coinsciously made) male centric hobby. To me, thats where the real sexism is, in the people seeing an isue that might not be there, its speak to their bias. I support any fiction involving new female characters, especially some who kick ass as much as these and show the men how its really done!

I'd rather not give an opinion since I'm a little tired of this particular combiner mold making people triggerhappy for either their "SEXIST" or "YOU'RE A FEMINIST SJW" buzzwords that do more harm than good, don't contribute towards any actual conversation beyond inflating your own ego and agenda and really have no place on a Transformers forum. I'd rather the comic and toys themselves be discussed, as is the point of the thread.

That is even better, yes. I did get sick of it all too.
I found the comic pretty fun and I wish more of them were translated. What I liked most was how it dealt with Megatron becoming Galvatron. In the show, its never adresed much as if Galvatron is a whole new character and everyone moves on with that in mind (even if we know he used to be Megatron). But here, there is a nice legacy which even takes another leap with Galvatron now being a head in Cyclonus, but with his entire history still there. So the only way for her to have a chat with him is for Cyclonus to have his chest open and reveal the head. Its a nice new wrinkle to the legacy of these characters

Is there a place where I can read all these C.W. comics in English? From the very beginning? I have ZERO knowledge about the story, and would love to read it all...
Heck that goes for all other TF comics too, but most will probably be hard to find. I have an omnibus, but it's a volume 2 of some older series. Never found Vol. 1.

I sent you a PM about how to get the comics so we can discuss it there, but I wanted to respond here about the combiner wars portion of the question.
The comic series, just like the youtube show, is derivitive of the toys. Meaning that the toys arent based on the comic. The comic itself was written after the toys were done (just like the combiner wars show) and dont really tell a complete story worthy of that name (just like the show). The real stoy behind the toys is all the g1 stories out there in both comics, shows and any other relevant media. The toys were simply updates to g1 toys/characters and the comic was mandated to thematically go with the line. But I would not call it the official story for these toys.

I like this comic. The fact that every single one of them has a gimmick of manipulating men is redundant, though.
That said, the comic actually does more to sell me on these characters than anything else. I mean, when I contrast this team to Victorion's in the comics, this team shines more because of the colourful personalities. Despite being in a better comic Victorion is just ... there. I actually find her pompous as a character/group. But this team sparkles with personality.
This comic almost makes me want the set as a counterpoint to my team of female Autobots (there so few female Decepticons as legit characters and not just repaints).
Almost. I mean, this is just the one comic. And I already have all these moulds.

If you want to get to know Victorion better, you should watch that recent Combiner Wars online show. They really add a lot to the character and dont just have her be randomly there doing nothing
not

That's a good one, WJ.
Anyway I wonder if our friend Sjeng was actually asking about the Unite Warriors/Legends comics?

Oh, woops, your right. I didnt realize we were in the takara thread.
In case thats what he wanted to know, Sjeng, the Japanese comics have not been translated for the most part. Also, there are only comics for the Legends figures and the exclusive UW sets like Grand Galvatron and Megatronia. So there is no japanese comic for Superion, Menasor and company since they arent part of the legends line.

I've been doing that since I got Hot Spot and I absolutely adore it. It's like some big final attack thing.
That ladder assembly is honestly the greatest thing about the Hot Spot version of the mold. There's so many things you can do with it.

While I will stay far away from that can of worms, I will say at least this. The symbolism of Moon Heart "amputating" the combination pegs of the all male Sky Reign team isn't lost on me.
