Unreleased G2 Ramjet Desert Camouflage Prototype Toy Review

Posted by Tigertrack Sep 29, 2007 at 6:49am CDT 78,480 views
Any fans of the seekers have probably been looking at this picture and the other un-released artworks from G2 and salivating.

Well, prepare to increase drooling, as TF-1.com reviews this very rare prototype toy, G2 Ramjet 'Desert Camouflage' version.

Not only is it fun to read about the history, but it is also very cool (and yet sad) to see the direction G2 may have gone, had it lasted longer. It is also interesting to see the toy piece at this stage, and imagine what it would look like as a completed final version.

Enjoy the review, and remember, our buddy Ramjet gets his own IDW comic book Spotlight coming up this November. Probably won't have the camouflage color scheme, but the tough attitude, and head on collisions are sure to be there a plenty!

For comparisons, you can also check out the extensive Seibertron.com galleries of Generation One Ramjet, and Classics Ramjet, and the rest of his incarnations here!

More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

Why can't stuff like this be released in reissue lines instead of the same stuff over and over?

The ebay auction this was sold at was from a seeming former Hasbro employee who seems tons of this stuff. Prototypes and art. I think that gives it a little more credability.

Oh, nifty! Why, though, would it have been Ramjet? Repaint seekers = new characters usually. Name recognition, I suppose.

My only complaint is that the face didn't extend into the nosecone.

This could be a prototype, but I see how alot of people doubt it, I mean look at the brown paint aps, you can see the brush swirls. Official prototypes normaly have flatter paint :-?

Either way, you can tell they had fun with this!

A repaint of Classics Ramjet, perhaps. Retooled missiles to match the artwork would be nice, too.

Snap to it, Hasbro. Chop chop!

trilobitepictures wrote:Don't get me wrong... I'm certainly not knocking the credibility of the toy. Obviously the very early stages of production on anything are going to be very crude.

But I'm pointing out is that when the "Jungle Attack" Starscream figure came out, the majority of the talkbacks were suggesting that the figure in question was a fraud and that whomever bought it was a sucker.

I'm just amused that, obviously they were produced at the same place at the same time, one is thought of as a fake and the other is ooh'd and aah'd over.

Of course this one has a transparency to back it up.

Someone mentioned that it could be another Seeker because new seekers always had new colors ... but that was only in G1. And even then there was a night assault Starscream (or soemthing) planned but never produced (there was a transparency on sale a while back). G2 had all kinda of wacky off-model coloring and Starscream's had tons of repaints throught (Robot Masters, ehobby reissues, and even Masterpeice Screamer had different colors).

Throw in a Thundercracker in his "Action Master" colors, just to give us a real nice set of deviant Seekers.

interesting, but G2 was the low point of transformers although some very cool toys were made like laser prime and tank megatron i am glad this jungle camo transformer line never made it

I agree, this looks like someones attempt at a custom repaint.

I like it. Too bad they never produced these.
