Fellow Seibertronian chuckdawg1999 has a review of Cyberverse Volcanicus. From the looks of it, the figure is not great and it's odd that there isn't a combining version out there since the designers went out of their way to create a new combination design, very well promoted in the show, like the good toy commercial shows of old.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Going into the specials that will end the Cyberverse series, we were shown the animated version of Volcanicus. The toy representation presented here doesn't combine, but it does transform into some form of a dragon. Something that wasn't shown in the first special that's now available on YouTube. Articulation isn't much to write home about, and the spinning transformation gimmick doesn't always work the way you'd want it to, but as of right now this is the only representation of the character.

I will get that Volcanicus. It looks like fun. I'm waiting to see if Dead End comes in stock at Amazon so I can get them together

Thank you so much for this video review. After watching it...this particular Volcanicus for me, is going to be a hard pass.

In honesty, I was seriously considering getting him...despite my initial not-so-kind reactions when the toy was first revealed. Robot-mode looks nice...and the dragon-mode (in some angles, particularly where you couldn't really tell how the robot-mode legs played out in dragon-mode), it looked cool. For what it was worth (being a younger-kid toy and all)...I admit it was growing on me.

However....at $30+, it's just not worth it...for me. I already got burned when I picked up Cyberverse Skullcruncher recently (I was hugely disappointed by him). I won't make the same mistake again with Volcanicus.

Now...the other Cyberverse Dinobots that are due out (Slag, Sludge and Snarl), I still have high hopes...still looking forward to them.

After watching the two specials, we see that Hot Rod is still quite prominent, as he ascends to one of the main Cybertronian leaders. So an Ultimate figure being available for parents to buy for their kids makes sense. And the Transformers Cyberverse Dinobots Unite Ultimate Hot Rod has been found at retail in time for the holliday season (take that supply chain!). He was found at Target along with Volcanicus, his wavemate. Fellow Seibertronian Chuckdawg has a review of this toy for us, so anyone curious about this big kids toy can check it out below.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:There's a lot going on with Hot Rod that's fun, unfortunately, there's quite a bit that's going wrong. Might be my copy, might not. When the entire point of a toy is the gimmick transformation you kinda need to make sure that works, all the time. If you're a fan there might be something here for you but I definitely can't recommend this for younger fans.

Poor Roddy. I really feel that Cyberverse really did the character justice. He comes into his own, grows and becomes a strong leader naturally. And they didn't write him into a corner and turn him into a complete whiney idiot looser in the hopes that people wouldn't loose their minds when they replace him like the did in G1 s3. But the toys for this version... barf. I mean, the warrior class or whatever it was called was a good well designed toy... with almost 0 paint apps, making it look like a cheap ko. Then there's this. Poor Roddy almost never catches a break. Oh thank heavens for the ss and kingdom commander. ;)^

Looking for a Christmas Gift / Birthday gift for a 4 year old, haven't actually looked at cyberverse so no idea how good they may be for a 4 year old.

Is Volcanicus a good option? He seems to be rather cheaply priced from what I can gather. Does the transformation gimmick work well for a 4 year old?

How about Supreme Shockwave?

4 may be a bit too young. Maybe stick with Rescue Bots for now?

But if you want to introduce him to something more "grown up", Supreme Shockwave is a great choice. Especially because you're sure to find one on sale.

My kid is 4 and Cyberverse is perfect. He didny like the ultimate ones (very finicky transformation due tonthe auto convert gimmick).
The combining megatron and slug set is his favourite. Since its easy to get from one mode to the next and the combining gimmick is fun and works well.

Warrior Cybertronian Starscream is also good and so is one step Megatron, wheeljack and starscream.

Dont get the deluxe toys, they are too advanced. Rescue bots is a bit too easy for 4 year olds.

I found a Volcanicus at Target yesterday, and better yet, had a 25% off 1 toy coupon. I loved him in the show, and even though I'm glad I got the toy and it is pretty enjoyable, I hope he gets a proper toy eventually using this design and transformation scheme. He was just so fun in the show!

Toy itself is pretty neat. I like it.

Also, Slug is still really awesome.

I think Slug is a perfect example of how to do a kids' toy, that's fully poseable and detailed, while still retaining a fairly simplistic ,(?) transformation.

More of this please, Hasbro.

I actually think this is incorrect.

Slug by no means has a "simple" transformation. I would argue the opposite: his transformation might actually be more complex than the SS86 leader Slug. It is a fun transformation, but this is not something that would fit with the much younger demographic. Warrior Snarl is probably a better example of simple but still fairly posable and fun. Slug will frustrate many kids, especially with the legs and the many different steps to transform the torso

Oh, cheers for the update. It's it more frustrating than that recent (large) Hotrod you that Chuckdawg just reviewed?

Anyway, it's just good to see that at least some "perfect" TFs are cooking out (kind of "G1 transformations with good posability), which is the only gimmick I would want, at the very least.

The Ultimate class figures are not that complicated, just the more recent ones have issues with the spring loaded transformation. Slug is complicated but doesn't get in the way or doesn't have any bits just randomly spring load out

Figured as much.

Speaking of Soundwave, I opened my Deluxe Soundwave in the new packaging... blast effect is missing. Looks like Hasbro's green initiative means really scrutinizing over figures to make sure none of the accessories have fallen out of the open-air boxes.

[Edit] Nope, it's Bumblebee, these are now on Target.com.

Hasbro has quietly rereleased Transformers Cyberverse Deluxe Arcee, Bumblebee and Starscream in the current Dinobots Unite packaging. Like the previous wave these will likely not include the parts to build Maccadam despite what the stock photos show but you'll still get the other weapons and effect parts, just be sure to inspect those open air boxes to make sure the parts didn't slip out! And hey, you can go to Target right now and buy these if you're lucky to have a local store that's reasonably well stocked (or even not well stocked as you can see from my photo below). Or you can go over to Target.com where they're currently in stock, click on the photos to be taken to the figure.

Now hopefully Prowl will be next to get reissued along side some new molds. If any of these are helping you fill gaps in your Cyberverse collection let us know in the Energon Pub Forums!

Greetings Seibertronians!

Have you seen Transformers Cyberverse Warrior Class Dead End on the shelves but don't know if he's the con for you? Well maybe fellow Seibertron user, and YouTube toy reviewer, Chuckdawg1999, can persuade you!

He's dropped by to let us know his thoughts about this toy, and if you should add it to your collection:

chuckdawg1999 wrote:Dead End is a fine Warrior Class figure, not my favorite but close. Transformation is simple but satisfying, I enjoy seeing a small robot change into a smaller car. The action gimmick is actually not that intrusive and with a little care, Dead End can get into some nice poses. A perfect toy for the holiday season.

Will Chuck's words persuade you? Have you already claimed Dead End? Let us know in the Energon Pub and stay tuned to Seibertron for all the latest news and reviews!

Seriously.

Dead End have been out for a long time yet nobody cared to make a review.

I adore my warrior Dead End. I am waiting for something specific though to do a nice photo dump with him. I just hope what I wish is possible is actually possible with the something specific.

Dead End does look sharp and is decently posable. I love how small the car mode can be made given his robot mode, almost a sort of mass shifting. And his gun is a nice addition too

So, I ended up getting TFCC Astrotrain, and he has become part of my ongoing quest to build a nice Cyberverse shelf using repurposed toys. And while I thought TR worked out pretty well, I think the bulk of this guy really helps make him a better fit even if the TR one has the more proper colors. This hulking bruiser works great with Dead End, his natural partner. Sadly, his shuttle bay is just a hair too small for Dead End to ride inside him, but I think they will make a great pair.

Still thrilled Dead End got a warrior.

Funny enough, his head is ENTIRELY paint. I know, I've scuffed the paint in 2 places messing around with him. He may lack window paint, but that's because his head, arms, and windshield got the paint budget

Looks like that is the end, which is a shame, I would love a wave with the Mercs and Tarn, especially since 3 deluxes and 2 ultras could give us the whole merc ground team.

Also would have liked a Perceptor in some form, preferably after he was blinded

Finally got my hands on my very first Quintesson toy with that Cyberverse set. Not extraordinary, but it does the job. I really love that both Prowl and Shockwave have mind control helmets, and the packaging have a background.

Image

Too bad the helmets can't store anywhere except by dangling on the Quintesson's tentacles.

Image

BTW, those helmets have different reds. One is darker. Hard to see on camera.

Image

Shockwave and Prowl are the Armor molds. Those are pretty nice. Shockwave is a wee bit darker than the regular release, but it's my firs time with Prowl.

Image

Shockwave is still good, but Prowl is the clear winner here. I think it may be my favorite Prowl toy to date!

Image

Overall, for 20$CAN, that set is worth getting. 8-)
