Video Review of Transformers Studio Series #32 2007 Movie Optimus Prime

Posted by ZeroWolf Dec 14, 2018 at 2:35pm CST 19,798 views
Thanks to a tip off from fellow Seibertron user, What's Crackin?, we've learned that YouTuber TonTon Reviews has reviewed another forthcoming Studio Series voyager class toy, this time it's #32 2007 Movie version Optimus Prime! This toy is a redeco and a retool of the Revenge of the Fallen Optimus Prime that released as part of wave 1. You can see that the new Optimus Prime is bigger than the previous release. You can see this and more differences between the two figures in this new review, including several comparisons.

Remember, it's this version of Optimus Prime that combines with the soon to be released Leader Class Jetfire.

We've embedded the video here for your convenience:

He is taller than SS-05! I’m waiting for the rumored DOTM Optimus, but if that doesn’t pan out I’m totally ok with this one.

Given recent leaks, I'm inclined to believe it but we'll have to wait and see.

Nice. Really didn't expect him to be taller this time. The size on the first one didn't bother me much until Ironhide came out and made him look too small so this new one's height increase is welcome. I like that you can see the truck window visor parts peeking at top of the chest windows now which you couldn't on the old one. Think the only area the figure got downgraded is that the piece on the lower legs which folded down over the remaining lower wheels no longer does. Other than that it's a huge improvement.

Swipey, Barry and Boney all look great too. Gonna be spending a fair chunk of money start of 2019 it seems. :)

Prime is a huge improvement. Taller, proportions look better, colors look better...I might actually pick this version up.

Bonecrusher is still a disappointment though. He already only comes up to the first SS Prime's belly, he's going to look even shorter next to the second version.

That Bonecrusher review... man, that battle of Prime and Boney from the 2007 movie still looks far better than anything I saw in the new Bumblebee film today. Bonecrusher figure size looks decent to me too. If you want bigger though there is a third party one that's pretty huge. This Studio Series version looks fine to me and will be bought with the rest of this wave. :D

So far, I haven't bought a single SS deluxe. Maybe because I keep my TF purchases to a minimum and/or it really bum me out to buy "ordinary movie deluxes" at 30$.

Do they not have them on reduced price anywhere there? I bought most of mine for typical RRP (and in a few cases more including Jazz and Lockdown at £30 each when the RRP is £23, just so I could have them a bit earlier) but The Entertainer here in the UK has been selling wave 1 and 2 Deluxes for about £16 each. Is how I got Stinger recently (and liked it way more than I thought I would). :)

The only one that I would be willing to pay for, but at 50% off, is SS Jazz. And he was just like a drop of water in a hot pan localy. And no way am I gonna pay full price nor ordering it online. I still feel the burn from that 55$ TLK Cogman (still available everywhere like roaches at 15$) :BANG_HEAD:

55 dollars? How did that happen? Mine didn't cost anywhere near that much and I got it early. :O

The Entertainer in Cambridge literally does have SS Jazz in for £16.80. They had at least two of them that I could see on the shelves (I was looking for Crowbar at that price but he's gone). They still have it on the website at https://www.thetoyshop.com/action-toys- ... 4611_E0745 but I guess that doesn't help you at all. Oh well, i hope you get lucky. :)

I talk in Canadian dollars but still. Cogman just refused to come out and he was rumored to be a rare "tail-line" figure. One that will barely appear in store before being gone forever. It happened a bit too often in the past. Because TLK Cogman was the only TLK deluxe I really cared about, I didn't took any chances and I ordered it from China. 55$CAN was the total price including shipping. It was the best price available back then.

Oh and before that, I was in an hurry to have the DOTM Ultimate Optimus Prime. I imported it from the USA at almost 140$CAN with shipping. Then just 2 or 3 months later, the damn thing was priced 80$CAN plus taxes everywhere and he even went on clearance at 50$CAN. :BANG_HEAD:

Seriously, I'm done ordering ANY Movie figures online. Seem that I ALWAYS get screwed over every times that I do. Appart DOTM Guzzle, Movie figures always land in stores and always get dirt cheap eventually. Plus I know that I'll have another shot at Jazz because he'll be included in the next wave of SS deluxes. And even then, I'll wait for a sale.

I began to seriously collect at the HFTD times. So I din't knew about ROTF Lockdown. So he was a "drop of water in a hot pan" too? One more to the list.

What is frustrating is we can never know what will be the nest ephemeral store shelf transformers.

With thanks to fellow Seibertron user, Nemesis Primal, we've learned that YouTuber TonTon Reviews has uploaded another review of a forthcoming Studio Series deluxe! This time it's #26 WW2 Bumblebee! Inspired by flashback footage in the fifth Transformers movie, The Last Knight. As well as having a hand held gun, he also comes with a mighty looking hammer, which forms the barrel of the tanks main weapon.

We have embedded the video for your convenience.

Some points have become standard like the knees, hips, elbows, shoulders and head, but other points like the feet and waist have not.

No it is not. Often, even if the same point of articulations are present, the kibble get in the way. This is important to point out.

Oaky, finally saw the video. Too bad it's a low def blurry mess, but eh, better than nothing.

I'm a bit disappointed that this WW2 bee is a TOTAL SHELLFORMER. He's comparable to AoE Galvatron or even Cybertron Thunderblast. Absolutely NO vehicle get carried over to the robot mode. Plus that color is plain and boring. It should have more dirt and battle damage painted on. Especially for a 30$ deluxe.

I still want it though, for the Legacy. Plus I'm sure Toyhax will come up with an interesting Reprolabels upgrade set.

I can testify firsthand to that, I can’t even find a broken version of that figure so I can just get his engine, and it feels like a wast to pay about double the original price when I still have the rest of him AND ratchet’ EMP for him
