chuckdawg1999 wrote:Authentics Arcee is a mixed bag. On the one hand, it's a neat figure that transforms without being a shell former, and it has some good articulation. On the other hand, due to the nature of Authentics, there are some tolerance issues with the legs and arms coming together, while the articulation could be a bit more functional. In general, the plastic doesn't feel as good as it could be. If you're looking for a simple Arcee then the Authentics version might be worth the look.

Really though, I think there's been enough G1 Arcees now. For a character that used to be famous for not having any toys there's a glut of them now.

Stock pictures show the spaceship flipped over. In the proper orientation, it's great!

Yup, pretty much. But instead of going full Exorcist, he just lay on his back and chill.

Looks a lot like the transformation of the Cyber Series Shockwave.-Kanrabat- wrote:Sabrblade wrote:That robot mode is just straight up Cyberverse Shockwave, complete with the angry eye.

I like the Cyber Series version more than the Authentics.

That angry eye is my favorite thing about that design, I love it

Interestingly enough, while Primal will be a big part of the ROTB toyline and there are ROTB Titan Changers coming, this particular toy is not from that line. So we will get more of these soon, but looking more like their movie counterparts.

Only a set of horns is missing to complete the look.

Primal is so skinnyIm sure his alt mode looks like a literal monkey

Because both are based on the Evergreen designs.

They all transform differently than the warrior toys.

For YOU, maybe.
But for a little kid whose parents don't have much money for toys, it's perfect.

Agreed, I've seen this line move off shelves in the bargain shop near me. I'd say Hasbro succeeded in making a budget line

The proverb "One man's junk is another man's treasure" rings true here.

I'm sure the little kid would sacrifice leader size and skinny proportions for some elbow and knee bends.

You'd be surprised. Kids love those massive 5 poa (points of articulation) action figures. After all kids in the 80s did without toys with knees or elbows (unless transformation called for it)

I'll also add that they keep making those "Shampoo bottle" giant cheap figures of Marvel, Star Wars, and Transformers. They keep making them because they keep selling them.
As a small kid, I never liked "overarticulated" figures that end up like "spaghetti monsters" and I rather just go WHAM BAM BOOM!

May I also point out that one of the more popular toy line ever in the world that still going strong to these days are Playmobil. No knees, no elbows, same style since 1975.
BTW, my earliest memories of an "action figure" are these little guys:

No limbs at all!

Authentics were made for discount stores like Ollie's and 5 below. Unfortunately they've been stocking more main line stuff lately.

Went to Five Below and TJM a few weeks ago and they didn't have any Transformers at all. Might have to check Big Lots and Dollar General soon. I wonder if Christmas Tree Shops have any?

It's just another discount store with a quirky name. They're a lot like Big Lots.

Primal looks great, though the blue on his chest looks like it was done with a spray can, lots of over paint. I wonder if he's too big to stand next to the small Transmetal Primal released in Japan.

That's because his shoulder canons serves a dual purpose here. So no extra budget for the swords.

From TF fan France who posted on Botposting.
Authentics bravo class Optimus Primal.
He's... actually pretty good. I expected this to be very hollow and weightless like the other ones from the same toyline, but no. It's the opposite.
He has a decent amount of articulation, NONE of the pieces have fallen off, he doesn't look very hollow except on his legs and a little on the arms, and he actually has weight.
The painting and sculpting are good.
The arms and legs can bend and because they're on a balljoint they can also swivel. The head can only look from side to side in robot mode and the gorilla head can only look up and down.
For the accessories he has two blasters which are stored on his back.
He unfortunately doesn't have his two swords.
I'd say it's a good Optimus Primal for those looking for cheap.
