According to AC Toys, there will be highly-detailed non-transforming movie figures under the name "robot replicas". Megatron, Prime, Bumblebee, and Barricade are pictured. http://www.actoys.net/bbs/read.php?tid=184936

Just tell me they aren't Die Cast. Or more accurately, floppy, topheavuy, and heavier than their hinges can handle.

The packaging is great on all these.

The figures themselves look pretty good too, and I'm wondering if they have a joint similar to Revoltech?

I'm not realy sure if I'll get them though. I'd like to, but it's been dawning on me just how many figures are coming out soon, and Between, these, the FABs, Deluxe, Voyager, Leader, Potatoes, Exclusives, and everything else, I need to be selective of who I get in what size.

If I don't I may have to sell my house which wouldn't be good as I rent!

I wish Hasbro would use their resources to put out something from the movie that won't be sitting on shelves in December. Things already look bad for the movie toys, my TRU has almost a half an aisle of Protoforms (for the last 3 weeks). Will that change by the time the movie comes out?

I'll get back to you. :P

I hear that bugbite... same with all the stores around here. I broke down and bought starscream although cool in robot form it's such a lasme protoform. Why couldn't they stick with the Beast Wars protoform idea, that was way better.

Also I'm gonna need Barricades spinny death wheel 4 sho!

Is it me or do these feel more cartoonish?

I like em, but it has been said that they look very toyish and not as highly detailed as they should be..Hmm I wonder if these are the Rotocast figures my source was talking about? i will email him to find out..

You remeber that Sideshow toys always does a super detailed highly collectible and expensive figures from movies, this movie looks to be right up their alley..remember the metallic terminator figure, with articulation and made from diecast? Or what about the real metal and expensive General Greivous? Those were sweet, ofcourse 250.00 for a collectible =like that was expensive, but I'd buy em if they were done in the transformers, they would look like the movie came to life..these are cool for kids to play with outside and in the Bath..not to mention the kitbashes.. whoo hoo!!!

I don't know about you guys but if I bought a TF toy that couldn't transform, I'd feel like a tool.

Pass on these... things.

I really don't understand the Action Master hate. It was a nice chance to get a more show accurate version of the toy... something that just couldn't be done at the time with a transformable version.

I'm not exactly a fan of non-transforming Transformers, but I've got enough PVC figures and Action Masters to know that I'm not totally against the concept. And the Action Masters were nice and cheap.

This is sort of the same thing: get a movie accurate version of the toy... while I love most of the movie toy designs, they're cutting some corners to make them look close to the movie versions simply because a ten dollar figure can't make the same transformation jumps as a cgi character. So if you want the closest likeness to the movie of Optimus Prime, then this is probably your pony.

I'd like to see these guys out of the box to see HOW accurate they are to the movie, though. It seems like they could have used some better paint apps from the pictures.

About the only thing I can say in defense of these is that depending on how big they are, the actual figures might look more detailed than they do in those pictures. If they're Revoltech size, then that amount of detail may be fine. If they're Deluxe or Voyager size, then they'd need more to look good on a shelf.

Basically, the gimmick is that they're supposed to be movie-accurate, and they're not. A product that contradicts itself will never do well. These are things that'll be sitting on the clearance shelf and found by parents who are, "not sure what they're looking for, but anything Transformers."

Might get Barricade, just b/c of how much better he looks in robot mode than his transforming cousin. But if they make a Brawl, count me in 110%

Yeah...what's the point of calling them Transformers if they don't?
