Wendy's has New Kids Meal Toys Featuring Transformers and Cardboard

This was a lot of news for me to take in since I did not even know Wendy's still had Kids Meal toys. But it turns out they do. And not only that, but they have Transformers toys right now. These are all based on the same Evergreen G1 based designs, which McDonalds already featured themselves in their Happy Meal. These are different toys of course and feature a very divisive gimmick: cardboard. The idea is that you have a limbless and faceless body that you can then customize with cardboard limbs and different faces. You can see images of the Megatron toy below along with a very funny gag made by fan turbobluestreak. You can see all the characters available which include the basic classic G1 roster and Windblade. The images come to us from SirPwntALot who posted them on TFW2005.

Anyone who happens to have any of the latest Macdonalds, Burgerking or Wendy's Starscream toys, Please message me. I've been unable to obtain these. I think they're cute.

It's too bad that Canada doesn't have the same toys.

It's a shame didn't use a little foresight to come up with something else to do with the plastic after the cardboard is lost to time. Should have added some 5mm pegs and holes to them like the old Happy Meal Armada figures had so they could double as something like a Weaponizer part.

was thinking of scrapping some SD gunpla or a HG Loto. Either way, those thin limbs annoy me, the plastic bits look decent.

I think this is the first time ever that Wendy's has had Transformers kids toys, though the Gobots ones they had back in the 80s were pretty cool along the lines of the Beast Wars Happy Meal toys from 1996.

Yeah, it's amazing what secrets can be revealed if you fold something juuuuust right. The $1 bill has plenty of them ;)

It's not every day (or month or year or decade) that Wendy's gets Transformers toys in their kids meals. So since I found some better images online, I thought it would be a good idea to share them. Especially since these are a rather new way to make a promotional Transformers toy. Animated was the lat time Hasbro allowed transforming toys to be sold by anyone other than them, so promotions had to find something else for gimmicks. We had launchers, wind up toys, even eye wear and now with Wendy's we have the idea of customizing a chibbie version of classic G1 characters and Windblade. Each figure comes with a plastic body where different cardboard limbs and faced can be attached. This can create different expressions and poses. Plus, craft people can make their own limbs for fun. The results can be quite cute. The promotion has hit the official website. You can see more images below, coming from Coldiron who posted them on TFW2005's message boards, and who also wrote this quick review:

Just picked them up. I always enjoy Wendy's crafty toys. I like the multiple arms, and faces. Sure the legs could be better if they were not skinny, but quality-wise and fun factor for the price they are pretty neat.
The paint is surprising good for a kids meal toy.
