Prime and Starscream...are either any good or are they garbage? I don't know why I thought of them earlier, but I did. I skipped them when they came out (obviously,) but I'm trying to figure out if there's any point to circle back...

I have Optimus and Starscream. I personally find them both to be great figures. Fun and articulate robot modes and unique entry modes. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Pick them up if you can find them for a descent price IMHO.

If you have any specific questions about them, I will try and answer them for you.

Wish they were bigger. Totally out of scale and that turns me off. You just reminded me that I want to sell mine.

If scale is your thing, then yes they might not be your thing. If you just like an interesting and fun figure, you might just like them.

Protoform Prime is one of my favourite Prime figures of all time, and Starscream makes a great stand-in for a generic drone 'con soldier (Think like Decepticlones in the PS2 Armada game)
I am really glad I got both of them.

I like them so much that when they originally were released I ordered one set from HTS and another from BBTS, just to make sure I got some. I kept all 4 figures. OP and SS are both displayed in 'bot and pod modes. I wish Hasbro would have made more protoform figs for all the other characters. Colors are unique to the these versions of the figs, but the same shades are showing up in later movie-verse versions. Definitely get if you can.

Hmmm...I came back to this today wondering why I even bothered inquiring as my interest had already faded and I was chalking it up to a moment of weakness from not having gotten any new figs for a whole couple weeks, but pretty much all the comments are positive other than scale. Making me re-think my "don't bother" angle... Anyone care to weigh in that think they suck to talk me back down from searching these things out?

Did this thread lead to the snipering of the Protoform Starscream that was for sale on Amazon for retail cost or was that just coincidence that it sold? Oh well, I was leaning against pulling the trigger on these figs after sleeping on it anyhow...

I think they're both excellent figures. Good articulation, neat weapons and look.
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

is that what those Rock toys were called Rock Lords??? I have a blue one from my childhood and is one of my fav toys I had(still have). When I saw the protoforms I had to get them! I also have the Takara ones because the blue translucent prime is so neat! IMO.
I also have a giant looking "rock lord?" haha it's all plastic and my sons love playing with it. I can't figure out out to make it a rock anymore.. come to think of it ... maybe it's not able to.
Did Optimus Prime really say "a booby trap caught two boobies?"

These don't do anything at all for me. I never had any interest in these, and I still don't even after reading all the praises for them on this thread. And if they are being sold for retail prices........wow. That is too bad.

Optimus is great, but I don't like Starscream that much. He's got weird shoulder joints and his torso joint comes apart really easily. Plus his look doesn't really fit in with the movie designs.

I will say that I can agree with that. At least there is no question as to who Optimus is. He looks correct.

Protoform Prime is an awesome figure for posing and I never think of him as a protoform but more of a specialist trooper designed for space based combat and planetary infiltration. I look at this figure and picture him smashing straight through the outer hull of a Decepticon starship in vehicle mode then transforming to robot mode to take out the interior. Love this figure.

I have Protoform Prime. I think what I like best about him is that he reminds me of Optimus Primal. The beast like feet, head and large chest all contribute to that. I like him. My only real gripe was the minimal paint apps. The weapon burst effect went into a box never to be seen again, lol.

Sad to say, but I think they are amongst the best of the movie toys, and some of the few, I would probably not sell... movie toys-wise anyway.
