07Movie Prime Abandoned Gimmick?

I am now convinced there was a planned gimmick for 07 Movie Leader Prime but I've never read anything about it. There are pegs on the back of the knees which reduce movement (I chopped them off within an hour of opening him) and above the knees, on the thighs, are sockets like those in the feet of ROTF Leader Prime. Does anyone know what they were for?

The sockets are actually for the rear wheel assembly.

Their are pegs right behind the first set of rear wheels that actually plug right into the back of Primes thighs in robot mode.

Really? Cos I tried that with all the force I could muster and they wouldn't go in. Maybe cos I painted and varnished him. That doesn't explain the pegs though.

That's wierd then, they pop right in on my prime. Oh well don't force it, your custom paint is more important that tidying up his kibble.

The blue posts that hinder poseability are just there for movie accuracy I think. They don't seem to do anything asides from getting in the way of the knee joint. You had an excellent idea to cut them off.

Yeah, the rectangular sockets are for the rear wheel parts to connect to. The pegs on the back of the knees don't seem to serve any mechanical function on the figure.

It just so happens that the one I'd tried before doesn't work but the other does. A slash or two with a scalpel sorted that out with no visible damage to my shiny paint work!

Now that does not make sense! I didn't notice knobbly sticky-out bits in the film! I really recommend cutting them off. His knees will be able to bend 90 degrees so his legs will be far superior to ROTF Prime cos ankles have better range of motion and are stiffer.
