Their are pegs right behind the first set of rear wheels that actually plug right into the back of Primes thighs in robot mode.

The blue posts that hinder poseability are just there for movie accuracy I think. They don't seem to do anything asides from getting in the way of the knee joint. You had an excellent idea to cut them off.

It just so happens that the one I'd tried before doesn't work but the other does. A slash or two with a scalpel sorted that out with no visible damage to my shiny paint work!

Now that does not make sense! I didn't notice knobbly sticky-out bits in the film! I really recommend cutting them off. His knees will be able to bend 90 degrees so his legs will be far superior to ROTF Prime cos ankles have better range of motion and are stiffer.
