A couple q's about WFC Soundwave

2 ) Are there bets being taken as to how long it'll be before third party casseticons are made to fit inside his chest?
3 ) Does the "boombox mode" shown in Seibertron's gallery (among other places) ever appear anywhere other than fanworks with the toy?
4 ) Could it be possible that they will decide NOT to make a Generations Earth Mode soundwave, in favor of this guy?

2. I dunno about bets, but if the recent reports are true, Takara's (and Hasbro?) releasing an official version of Rumble and Frenzy March '11. Whether they are compatible with WFC Soundwave is anyone's guess. My personal guess is, they'll both combine to form an alt mode. Still, I'm hoping they'll at least in scale with WFC Soundwave and be small enough to tuck into his chest compartment.
3. Technically, his boombox mode was featured in the WFC game, during the Autobot campaign. He's also seen to transform into boombox mode during the ending credits, and plays Stan Bush's "Til All Are One".
4. Quite possible (that Hasbro WON'T make an Earth Mode for him). So far, those that have been featured as WFC figs have yet to get a G1 Earth mode representation. Besides, all non-WFC Generations figs thus far have been very accurate updates of their G1 incarnations. For Soundwave to be represented as such, he'd have to be a cassette player, which is for all intents and purposes obsolete technology. And since Hasbro has kids as it's target audience, I don't think they'd want to give a TF an alt mode that children these days aren't familiar with.
Of course, they could make him into a CD player like Bayverse Frenzy.
I really can't say, but for the time being, it looks as though WFC Soundwave's all we're getting of the character--in the Generations line, at least.

I actually would be VERY surprised, and I doubt they will - if they did a WFC Ironhide he'd look like the game model. I just think his transform scheme is VERY similar to the one used most often by the animation model for Ironhide / Ratchet.

The thing is, the surface details of the mold are TOO Soundwave for them to retool the entire thing into Ironhide or Ratchet. Retooling the entire surface detail would basicallly mean "create an entire new mold from scratch" in terms of cost, and actually be slightly MORE work than really doing so.
I'd give better odds of a WFC mold based on the actual characters than I would for this mold to be retooled into such.

The surface details (not paint or colors, the sculpted bits) are pretty much "Robot that turns into a car", barring the head itself. The ONLY thing about the Blurr / Drift moldset is that Drift came first, and Blurr was the retool.

I can't see that. Even sold as a set, that's just too small...unless maybe the set was sold as a single legends fig, but I just don't see it.

True. The best one can hope for it for at least one of the two cassette bots to be able to fit inside.
Depending on the alt modes of R/F, the articulation might not be all that bad even if they were to be made (at least relatively) in scale with WFC Soundwave. If they just transformed into some blocky Cybertronian computer hard drive thingie, much of their articulation can still be preserved using ball joints. The problem with that is that they essentially perform robot yoga during transformation.
That said, I doubt Hasbro would even consider making such a dull alt mode as a blocky Cybertronian server/hard drive thing. It does make me wonder just what their alt mode might be that requires two bots to combine (I'm just guessing about the combining part, although it's quite probably) and has something to do with data and communications (yet another guess; for all I know, they might transform into a howitzer or something).
I suppose the best one might hope for is a "relatively" in-scale R/F that still give the illusion that they might fit into Soundwave's chest, even though they can't. If they're small enough to stand a about half the height of Soundwave, I'll be satisfied enough.
