I'm looking for some good opinions about what Devestator to purchase. Currently I don't have any of them but, would like to. Which one has the best articulation and looks the best? And besides the Crazy Devy kit for the G1 Devestator are there any other kits for add-ons to make the Devestator better?

If you're willing to spend the money, get G1 Devy.

You have a nice range of choices, granted about half of them are repaints.
Generation 1/2
They say the original is always the best, so this is a no-brainer. He is simply iconic, but alas, also knocked off more times than you can count. There are even fakes with authentic looking G1 boxes! Should you want a G1 Devie MIB, get it from a reputable, experienced dealer.
The Generation 2 version has some color changes, from green to yellow or the rarer orange, here's where you need to pay attention. AVOID the yellow ones from Europe, as they don't have the combiner pieces and have some connectors removed.
Action Master
Non-Transforming, comes with a transforming scorpion. Ok, I'm done cheating here, moving along...
Universe
The Landfill repaint, I consider him second best. Consider this: Landfill on his own was a throwback to Diaclone's Construction Robo, from which Devastator was derived, so it's fitting in more ways than one. He came in two sets of two figures, as a Target exclusive. I want both Landfill and him!
O, don't mind that Scavanger is all purple instead of green.
Universe Micromaster (or Destron Sixbuilder)
As far as accuracy goes you can't go wrong with this Micromaster Six-Combiner. The vehicles are the same, colors are correct, 3 of the original names are used (repurposing or renaming does wonders), what more could you ask for? Compared with the original G1, the Micromaster actually looks a lot more streamlined and organised, and has the same articulation to boot
Classics Constructicon Devastator
Repaint of Energon Constructicon Maximus, here's where things feel a bit iffy for me. Maybe it's the fact it has only 3 molds total: Excavator, power shovel and crane. And the opposite color polarity of each "twin" feels a bit like cheating to me.
Movie Constructicon Devastator
I hope you can handle 6 non-transforming Tonka-like vehicles combining into this hunk of plastic. I can, but I'm gonna wait until he gets clearanced.
Movie Legends Constructicon Devastator
Instant buy. If you want only one Devstator from the movie, get him.

I've always prefered the original green G1 one myself. It lacks articulation, but he just looks badass. The legends Dev is a close second, and will be much cheaper if you can find it at retail. He is rather small (about the same size as deluxe Skids) but looks MUCH better than that $99 ROTF monstrosity.

Seems like I'm kinda stuck. I hate the way the Movie/Legends Devestator looks, I do like the G1 but, his mobility sucks badly. It also seems rather small.
I wish there was one that had good articulation, size, and looked like the Original cartoon. Thanks for the advice guys. Looks like I'm gonna have to whip out the ole credit card...

I suggest not buying from ebay. I bought my G1 devy from transformerland. Good service and got it rather quick, less then a week. So I bought a few more things from there. If you want mobility and articulation, you'll have to get the add-ons from crazydevy.com.

Not to mention that you may be getting a bootleg Dev off of ebay. If it seems like it is priced way too low, avoid it like the plague.

I tend to avoid eBay for TF's unless they are A.) In the package (just because I need to know all the pieces are there and instructions) B.) I tire of the seller excuse of "I was in the hospital/sick for a month, C.) I am suspicious of knock offs and D.) IF its priced too low...its prob to good to be true. Thanks for the heads up though on Transformerland!

G1 isn't too bad. He's one of the few G1 combiners with elbows, wrist joints... his head even nods. :p
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

For looking best I think G1 or a repaint of.
For best articulation I'd go with Energon or it's Classics repaint. Leg articulation is great, arm articulation can be improved with slight mistransformation of parts. Has waist articulation as well.
The large ROTF Dev looks cheap, isn't accurate to the CGI as there aren't enough vehicles (only 6) and the combination is so simplified it doesn't look complex enough for Movieverse. Apparently he has little or no leg articulation and no neck articulation. ROTF Dev is a quadraped, this toy is a biped.
Legends Dev is more slightly more accurate to the CGI as the body robots blend in with each other better and he has 7 vehicles, athough I'm convinced there are at least 8 in the film. Unfortunately, ROTF Dev is a quadraped, this toy is a biped. As he has no useful articulation you can't fix this without serious kitbashing. He can point his toes out or in, bob up and down and waggle his arms at the elbows and that's about it!

I refurbished my childhood Dev by disassembling, cleaning and adding Reprolabels. He's certainly one of my favorites and will be even better once I get my Crazy Devy bits.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Action Master

Love the Universe Micromaster version! I liked all those little combiners. Simple, but nice.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Classics Constructicon Devastator
I don't care what anyone says, this combiner is the best of the 3 we got from Energon/Classics. By moving bits around a little differently, he has montrous hands and was the most solid of all 3 for me. He'd probably look a bit more G1 by combining two sets although I hear he's getting pricey.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Movie Constructicon Devastator
I need to find one on clearance too.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Movie Legends Constructicon Devastator
I felt he was an instant buy too. I'm not sure I dig him all the much personally. Maybe the add on bits can spare him.

Pretty sure I'll end up finding a G1 and going with the crazy devy parts. I like the classics but it's hands do bug me a bit. :p

Not all Yellow European Constructicons are the G2 non combining guys, there are also the very very rare yellow French G1 Constructicons which are the exact same as the usual G1 versions just yellow - and almost impossible to find.

Not that tiny Wal*Mart exclusive ROTF version. WTF? $32 for a figure that is between deluxe and voyager. I know it's 7 figs and is accurate maybe $15 max is what I might pay.
Local W*M has Leader Optimus Prime or Jetfire for $35, $3 gets you huge figure. BIG Devastator for $99. Itty-bitty Devastator can't be worth price.

No, as I said above, he's not even accurate - needs many joint upgrades to make it worth it. I got it for £15 and would have returned it if I wasn't a kitbasher.

Re: A Good Devestator to Buy?
I got, and liked, the Legends class Devestator. He's the same size as the older WSTF KO Devestator which I also have (and broke when trying to reassemble him ...
). If you have a non-broken version you can have the two in scale with each other.
It's not accurate, but it's a Legends-class figure. So it's about as accuracte as can be expected. And it's limbs transform into individual robots, which is more than the Supereme class figure can say.
But I look forward to getting my hands on some real G1 Constructicons. My KOs didn't fit too well with the Crazy Devy parts, but I can see the figure looks nice with them on. The one downside to them is that they use the original G1 waist peice and look funny without it. Unfortunately that peice severely restricts posability. They should have just added some sculptural details to the waist peice they made because they shot themselves in the foot.
