A question about MP3 Soundwave
- Weapon: Armor Axe
I am looking to acquire a Device label Soundwave and was wondering if this figure will work with American computers. I know it sounds crazy but I don't have a MP3 player and figure why npt soundwave i just want to make sure I will be able to listen to music on it.

Peaugh, famous Transformers reviewer, was able to put Stan Bush's "The Touch" on his Music Label Soundwave.
Go for it, sucka. I'm gonna pick one up, too, after my next paycheck.

Yep, no problems with US computers. I loaded mine quite easily.
HOWEVER, I've heard that for some bizarre reason, he sounds better if you use a cheapo brand memory card of 2 GB or less.

That's probably because of the 2 GB limit. Beyond 2 GB limit the cards use a different kind of compression method that older players can't handle that well.

Just remember that it's not an MPS like an iPod or something, it is a player for SD memory cards.

Awesome figure, but I doubt I'll ever use it as an MP3 player.

I probably won't either. Unless I'm, like, cleaning that room or something. I'm definitely going to pick up Device Label Blaster, and hook Soundwave up to Blaster up to my Laptop. It'll be a jolly old time always!

Soundwave doesn't have a USB port built in to him. Probably because he has no built in memory.

As a music player he isn't very good. He'll only play music in the order you put them on the memory card. You can skip back and forth but there's no random or shuffle feature. I believe putting music in folders may confuse it too. As a TF he's great, as a music player he's very limited. Oh yeah, he doesn't have wifi either!

i had bought a cheap mini sd (not micro) card for mine but it turned out that it was a slow card & soundwave played very choppy. i had to order a second card & made sure i got a faster speed card & then he played fine. don't forget what mykltron said, there is no usb port, you'll need to plug the card into your pc by usb or card reader, & copy files to the card in the order you want them to play.

I can only take credit for the part about song order, not pointing out the lack of USB.

Same here. Except I never tried to get him to work so I paid £40 for a delux.

whoops! sorry, that tidbit was from midnight_fox! sorry, fox, didn't mean to gyp you out of credit
for those who said they had problems getting ML Soundwave to play, i wonder if there's a limitation to the bitrate of mp3 files, considering all the other limitations he has? i might break mine out & do a little experimenting.. i loaded mine with just a few songs, wouldja believe, the '86 movie soundtrack
the only problem i had with playback was when i had a slow card inserted, & he played choppy. i copied the same files to a faster card, & he played fine. i'll have to toy around (ta-dum-tah!) with some files of different bitrates & see if i can find a threshhold... also, i dropped them all right in the root, no folders at all...

ok so i had to do a little re-familiarization with SW, its been awhile since i had him out. one of the things i had to re-learn is something that vexed me when i 1st got him, the play button has to be held a couple seconds before he begins playing. when released, you should get a flashing blue led then & playback. press, hold, & release again to turn off.
another thing i noticed is when i checked my battery for leakage was that i had had to wedge a tiny bit of folded up paper in the battery spring to make it sit right.
other than that, as long as all files are in the root (i haven't tested with subfolders), i can play files with long filenames, including grammatical characters, at least up to 320kb.
i hope this helps someone
