According to Transformers lore, The Fallen is called that because his original name was taken away from him. Any idea what his original name was?

The new book Exodus supposedly gives him a name "Megatronus". I don't know if it's true, but this would be the first time since his creation that we learn his real name.

I read that too, and that's what I thought, but apparently the fact that there's a "Fallen" character named recently in the "13" toyline apparently throws that into doubt.

I seem to recall, but not with any kind of absolute certainty, that in either the War Within or that hardcover Ultimate Guide that the Fallen's real name was stricken from all existant records, or something like that. I know that's not helpful in terms of what that name was, but it was a stronger forced forgetfulness than just like, "Never say his name again." From what I recall it was more like everything that bore his name was destroyed, so there would be no possible way of remembering the name. Now, that's clever becuase then no one can ever definitively name the Fallen's original name, and aside from that, it would only be applicable to DWs' Fallen, and not necessarily the ROTF Fallen. So, it's a riddle wrapped in a puzzle, really.

No they stated that they want to tell the story about the 13 and maybe release a couple of toys based on them sometime in the future.

Megatronus (warrior of darkness)
The Fallen (interesting new plot twist)

Kinda sounds as if this will be a "before and after" kind of thing.

everyone knows that the Fallen's true name is Sparkimus Prime, he was a headmaster unit for the Barbobot.

If the new Fallen toy looks like the IDW Fallen, I'll pay them now.

Exodus mentions The Fallen, but refers to him only as The Fallen.

Megatronus was the name of one of the Original 13 that a gladiator took in Kaon, and eventually that name was shortened to Megatron.

The Fallen = Megatronus

At Botcon, they first showed an image of Megatronus, and then showed a picture of The Fallen with the name Megatronus crossed out like so, indicating that he was no longer Megatronus and was now forevermore to be known simply as "The Fallen".

Not to mention that the two had the same pose and body-build, with The Fallen just being engulfed in flames all over himself and looking a bit more hideous than his old self.

Megatronus just sounds kinda dumb. Maybe that's why he changed his name. Also...

The above is correct. We should see slide pics from SDCC which should repeat everything at Botcon, and reveal a bit more.

Megatronus??

While I'm glad that they're expanding the backstory, etc., that name just sounds dumb, in my opinion. It sounds like they didn't put much thought into it.

Actually, I think it makes perfect sense. Consider this.

The Fallen/Megatronus was created by Primus to be the God of Entropy, charged with the proper decay of the universe. The others turned on him because he took to the job too well. Megatron obviously took the name because of his single minded goal of the total destruction of all in his way.

Well it actually works if you consider that the name Megatron shows up in the Covenant of Primus in the Beast Wars finale and is used in the same way the bible would refer to Lucifer "And you shall know that my name is MEGATRON", so having the fallen be called Megatronus would imply that he is in fact the origin of the name Megatron.

I think this is pretty badass.

Well... This wiki page states it as Megatronus Prime.

But, it also states him as a multiversal singularity, which is a concept I never could completely understand. :-?
