A question for MP Prime Owners
- Motto: "Fortune favors the bold!"

Hello all,
To those of you who own any version of the MP Prime mold (mine is the 20th Anniversary):
How well does he stand up? What I mean is, does he balance well, or fall over easily? I've always been a bit weary of leaving him on display in robot mode in fear that he'll topple over. I've never actually had him fall over, but I do have two rather rambuctious cats and I'm a bit afraid that in their regular daily "exercise", they might knock him down.
So if anyone can let me know how "sturdy" they've found him to be, I'd appreciate it!

Mine stand up well if I play with it a bit. I've transformed it a few times, so the ankles have loosened up a bit. I have to make sure he doesn't lean forward or backward when I stand him up and he stays up fine. Doesn't move on his own once he's balanced on his feet.
Not sure how well he would withstand a feline onslaught though.

I've got several versions of the mold and I've never had any problems with them falling over. If fact I've got MP-02 and the Hasbro DVD version both posed in bot mode on my top shelf, and they been that way at least a year. The cats are the only issue I can see.

Can't speak for the cats, but I've had two of the mold on display in bot mode for over a year without any issue.

If the cats have access to him then I wouldn't risk it. He won't withstand (pun intended) being bumped.

Mine stands fine and I've had him since when he was first released, mostly displayed in robot mode.
Not caring about scale since 1984. Just like Hasbro.

I've had mine since whenever DVD Prime came out and he's been in bot mode 99% of the time. Only one time in that 4 or 5 years has he toppled. And I don't really know what happened there. I just came home from work one day and he was on the floor, an approximate 3 foot drop from his shelf. Don't know if he was unbalanced and fell or if the book shelf got bumped.
But I'd say for the most part he stands pretty well. I've got mine posed in a somewhat sideways turned, gun extended shooting pose and he's held it well so far. I'd say no worries with yours.
Also, as a side note, maybe you should train the cats to not go near the figures. They are smart enough to know that you don't want them going in certain places. It will take a couple of water bottle squirts, scooting them away, and a little yelling but they will evetually learn to play somewhere else.

I envy you guys and your standing Primes. I have three different versions of the mold and only one (Black Convoy) stands perfectly on his own without requiring a small bit of support. Anniversary Prime and Magnus will and have stood for years in dynamic poses but more vanilla poses means they topple. I prefer action anyway.

It's not that they would willingly seek out the figures, it's just that they find high places fascinating, and guess where my MP OP would go? I don't think they climb the shelf when I'm not around (since they really only do it to watch me when I'm on the computer) and I can shoo them away, but I'm just worried that if they are bored one day when I'm not home and the water gun is obviously unmanned they may get curious and swat/chew one of my figs.
In their defense, they've never touched Alternators Grimlock (in car mode) or Masterpiece Skywarp (in jet mode) so that's encouraging... however both of those figures are pretty sturdily in place. Because Prime is so heavy, I just worry that a fall would not be kind to him.
Thanks to all of you for the suggestions, and for the info on how well your Primes stand. I think what I will do is introduce him slowly, putting him out when I am home and then taking him away when I'm at work, at least until he becomes as normal to them as Skywarp and Grimlock. I think if I also tilt him back slightly, he should be prevented from falling foward in the rare case that they climb when I'm not home. God, I just wish he came with a base that he attached to, like the Seekers!
Thanks again!

I've had MP-1 Convoy and MP-2 Magnus since they came out and they have never once fallen. And they're at the two extremes of play as well: Prime has been transformed hundreds of times and been roughly played with by my nephews and has the chipped paint to prove it so Magnus was never even transformed, just taken out of the box and standing straight up on the shelf to keep his white paint perfect. Neither one even leans a little.

Re: A question for MP Prime Owners
Mine stand pretty good.
They do seem to be a little sturdier in action poses rather than straight up.
U folks need to keep the cats out or make them disappear lol

You can try leaving him in truck mode during this introduction period. You can chock his tires with something so that you are sure that he won't roll anywhere and then you just monitor the cats to see what they do when you are in the room "but aren't really paying attention to them".
I don't use any of the bases that have come with any of my figures. They are sturdy for sure but they take up a lot of room. You can get too many figures on a shelf if you use the bases. My most populated shelf has 10 figures on it with MP Prime, MP Grimlock, Gen Red Alert, Gen Drift, and RTS Hot Rod, squaring off against MP Skywarp, Henkei Starscream, Gen Thrust, Gen Dirge, and RTS Cyclonus. This just wouldn't be possible with Skywarp's base or DVD Prime's sound stage base thing.
Anyway, good luck to you.
