In response to the inital post...

It's possible you're coming on too strong. Don't know. Have to be there. If I was, I'd like to think I'd talk after a minute or so of standing there with a dumbfounded look cause a girl actually came up to me! I mean I wish it was that easy cause I'm lonely and extremely retarded when it comes to meeting members of the opposite sex.

Anyway rest assured those guys are kicking themselves now.

It's been my experience most, but not all, Sci-fi/anime/toy collectors don't have a well developed set of social skills. This is also common among musicians especially those considered virtuosos. They become so engrossed in their own world often times they find it difficult to mingle with those they view as "outsiders" and look to avoid contact at all costs. Collectors finding a fellow collector is rare thus leading the individual to be unprepared as to how to respond. The individual views the toy store/music shop/comic shop as a safe spot where they can be alone with their hobby.

What all this means to you is that you shouldn't think you did something wrong since the people you approached didn't respond, they just didn't know what to do. Keep trying and remember, it takes a lot of lemons to make a glass of lemonade.

In all honesty, as has been said, you can't lump all boys into a box just because they like Transformers, and likewise, you can't lump all girls into a box just because they're "attractive". Some of the most horrid people I've ever met in my life have been "attractive".

Looks don't last.

And if age doesn't get them, bear claws, acid or holding a ciggarette between your legs while trying to get the lid off a bottle of petrol will.

I'm not saying you're horrid, or anything, just saying that maybe the guy had a rough ride with an "attractive" lass and so he had a bit of a freak out.

When I go into a the comic shop, or any shop where I start purusing the comics, I'm only there for one thing, and one thing only, and if some fella comes up and talks to me I'll be polite, but its not good policy to seek relationships with random people in a shopping facility. The guy could be an axe murderer.

Or maybe he's just gay.

Well, I chuckled. Hyuk.

And even though we don't have bears in this country, we have people who try and make bear claws by trying to feed pieces of cow bones into a wood splitter.
