I'm so relieved. I love my former co-workers and don't really mind the work that I did (waxing floors). But it was time to move on. I'm getting myself back into a "normal waking hours" routine. Although I went to bed last night around 7pm, having been up since 9pm the night before, and woke up this morning around 2am.
I did it. I finally quit Wal-Mart.

I did it. I finally quit Wal-Mart.
After five years of working for that Godforsaken company, I quit yesterday morning. I told management that I was leaving a few days beforehand, which was just after my five-year anniversary there. I got another, better job at a place that makes aluminum fences. The starting pay isn't much less than what I was making as of my anniversary this week, which is kind of sad when you think about it. Plus, I'll be on first shift with weekends and holidays off, except for overtime "seasons" when I work some Saturday mornings for a few hours. This fence company also offers tuition reimbursemet, which is a major plus since I want to get into college this summer & fall. Wal-Mart does not offer tuition reimbursement... I wonder why?!

Congrats man!
I was a Wal*Martian for 3 1/2 years. My wife was for 5 years. I f#ck'n hate that corporation, they treat their employees like sh!t and all of the favortiism makes me sick.
'sides, I can never be a corporate lackey.
I really dug my job though, bikebuilder, best job there is in that godforsaken h&ll hole.
Again, Congrats man!

Congrats. It's everyone's dream to escape the hell of retail. Between my last job and this one, I've spent 5 years in retail. The people at my jobs were nice, but I didn't spend 6 1/2 years in college just to sell extended warranties on impact wrenches. Congrats again.
Next up on Pimp My Jeager.

Congrats! I just quit the Bay not too long ago. I haven't been with them as long as you've been with Wal-Mart, but I know the feeling.

I've been told that it's seven years. Either way I've still got quite a bit coming to me. I know that I'll get my two unused weeks of vacation time on my next paycheck, though

That is a pretty damn good job at Walmart. I had that checked off in my "career preferences" for a while, but there were never any openings. What am I saying... there were never any openings in the whole damn store, they pick and chose who they wanted for most stuff. That was one reason to leave the company.

I worked at Wally-world, not the best job ever, but i worked worse, and fortunatly the one I worked at had low expectations, I spent most of my shift in the back playing my PSP and they still gave me employee of the month just before I left.
I couldn't imagine working there for that long though, be glad your fleeing while you can lol

pulix
Quitting Publix, kept me from dying, one day I was so sleepy I realized I was walking into the road instead of the sidewalk, also I fell asleep on the bus and train numerous time missing stops.
I went at 3am, was supposed to get off at 12, but they would keep us there until the truck was done or they felt like making us do things(sometimes until like 4pm.) night crew did no stocking at all, then the meat truck, dairy and all other trucks would come in so we had to leave the floor and the floats and go bring in all there stuff.
It was a thankless job, the day I quit I was not planning on it, but I needed to leave since I had left my medication at home, they gave me a hassle about it, and I just had to go it was the last straw.
