Actual United Wave 4 Photos

Description of differences:

We've already seen Frenzy & Rumble way back when they were first added, but now we have pictures of Scourge, G2 Optimus, and Wheeljack.

Scourge has stripes all the way down his wings, red windows, metallic paint on his chest, a Decepticon symbol on the center of his chest (rather than his left breast), red eyes, lighter gray for the hands, darker gray for the gun, more pink finger nails.

G2 Optimus has clear blue instead of clear orange, no blue in vehicle mode, though he retains the flames the red does fade into black on some areas, different paint apps on the shoulders, red paint biceps, red details on his knees, G1 Autobot symbol on the side of the truck, silver painted gas tank area.

Wheeljack has metallic green paint, more elaborate stripe detailing on his chest, more green on the side of the car. There may be more differences, but it's hard to tell with neither figure being released yet.

Note the pictures of Frenzy & Rumble on Amazon.co.jp have always been of the United version since they've been in color.

Randy

Higher Res Images for your convenience at the Allspark.

Hopefully this will put to end finally that the images shown of United Optimus, Scourge, and Wheeljack were actually the RtS/Generations versions up until now.

Hmm...I think generally the Hasbro decos are actually superior here, especially for Wheeljack.

I could certainly see Takara Scourge used as Scourge and Hasbro Scourge used as Sweeps. There are differences that are subtle enough to differentiate, but not so glaringly different as to throw off the look.

I'm liking UN G2 prime better than the RTS version but I'll probably attempt to swap the windshield and sword since Ilike orange way better than blue..

Wheeljack and Scourge are definite passes. The price for the differences is dumb... but Prime's got me polarized. There's a mix of really good stuff and really bad stuff on him that I just can't get past.

Good: Better G2 accurate paint scheme

Bad: Blue sword

Indeterminate: Blue light piping

Ugh, this has got me torn now. Cursed Takara/Tomy!

Too much green on United Wheeljack - for me, Hasbro wins this round.

Really digging the changes on United Scourge, though - i'm sticking to my plan of the United version as Scourge + 2 Hasbro as Sweeps...

I like the paint deco on United G2 Prime, but much prefer the Hasbro orange windows and sword. I'm getting both Scourges to distinguish between him and a Sweeps warrior. I really like the white on United figures better (e.g., Drift and Jazz) but I'm a little disappointed in the United deco for Wheeljack and might just go Hasbro for this one.

My picks:

Wheeljack: Generations
Scourge: Generations, waiting for repaints for use as Sweeps
G2 Prime: United.

Dang, Takara will get some of my money after all.

EDIT: On second thought, Scourge can go both ways. Depends on how shiny the paint is though.

I'll stick with United Laser Prime and Scourge. Hasbro gets my money for Wheeljack though. The shiny green isn't necessary for him, however nice it looks to me. I like the differences for Scourge. It'll be easier to tell who's commanding the Hasbro sweeps in my collection.

Hmm... As I live in Europe where Hasbro is shafting us BIG time with anything Generations/RtS related (i.e. we're not getting it in the shops), the price difference between importing Generations/RtS or United isn't as great as it would be for you guys in the US. That's why I've ordered this wave of United Transformers. Biggest improvement is definitely with Laser OP (I really hate the blue cab on the Generations version), and Scourge comes in second. Wheeljack's metalic green stripes right along the sides look nice, but I do agree that Generations Wheeljack looks good too.
I'm so meta, even this acronym...

I think I might like the Generations Wheeljack better. Those stripes on the United version should not extend to his chest.

United Scourge is kind of nice. He gets all the show accuracy in bot mode and has the light blue tint in vehicle mode.

United Prime is clearly superior.

I too like Gen Wheeljack, and United Scourge.

United G2 prim elooks better, but the mold as a whole is a pass for me.

That puts my United list of wants at 4 (Drift :-x , Jazz, Tracks, Scourge) and my maybe's at 1 (Wreck-gar, mostly for parts swapping with Generations).

Our only unknowns are Thunderwing, Skullgrin, Warpath, Windcharger, Rumble and Frenzy.

EDIT. So now we have seen Rumble and Frenzy, but I don't think I like the mold enough to warrant the import charge.

Right now I think the Generations Wheeljack looks better overall, don't like the stripe going all the way up and no need for the green to be metallic, but I'll be buying both because it's freaking Wheeljack. Also going United for Scourge and Generations for the Sweeps.

The only place United Wheeljack comes out ahead is he'll likely have the nicer, crisp, white plastic. But I like Hasbro's green much better. 1 up for Generations...

Scourge I have mixed feelings on. I really like the 'Con "badge" on the Hasbro, but I'm sure the blue will look sharp on the United...and that one looks better in alt mode. But I don't really intend to do sweeps so he's probably unnecessary.

United Prime looks better, but the a better paint job doesn't really do much for the 'meh' mold. I'll just go on disappointed with the RtS version I already have...

The United Wheeljack doesn't look very good. He resembles a Christmas tree ornament more than a giant robot, with that shiny red and green. On some United figures (mainly Tracks), the chrome looks okay, but I really don't care for it on most. I'll definitely get the cheaper, better Hasbro version (although hopefully there'll be Reprolabels for him so he can have his sponsors and number). The only better thing about United Scourge is the blue stripe continuing on his wings, rather than stopping before the middle. Hopefully that'll be fixed by Reprolabels as well. G2 Prime is the only one that looks much better. I like the flames a lot more on him, and the colours are just better overall, especially the black instead of dark blue on the cab. I greatly prefer the more movie- (and G1) like orange sword on the Hasbro version, however. I probably won't get the United one unless it's cheap enough, which probably won't happen.

Amazon Japan has updated their Transformers United listing with Official images of: Scourge, Wheeljack, G2 Optimus Prime, and Frenzy & Rumble. We've seen Frenzy & Rumble before, but these are our first looks at Scourge, Wheeljack, and G2 Optimus Prime in their Takara decos. All three reveal noticeable differences from their Hasbro counterparts.

Wheeljack features metallic green paint, a different stripe pattern, and additional paint applications on the sides of his car mode.

Scourge also features a shinier metallic blue paint job, his Decepticon symbol has moved from his shoulder to the middle of his chest, full wing stripes in alt mode, and several other alternative pait applications.

G2 Optimus Prime has swapped his blue for a more consistent black in alt mode, he now sports an Autobot symbols on his doors in truck mode, his orange translucent plastics have been changed to blue, as well several other small paint application differences.

The images have been mirrored below.

Like pretty much everyone, I prefer the Generations Wheeljack (and will be buying the expected reprolabels)

But I'll be using Generations Scourge as Scourge and 3x Titanium Scourge for the sweeps, since I already have them.

I could not possibly care less about the G2 Prime, certainly not enough to spend import dollars on him. I have generations G2 Prime in my Pile-O-loot solely because he came in the group with the rest of the wave.

I'll find something to do with him and I hear he is a very nice figure, so I may be pleasantly surprised.

So far in Generations/RTS/United i've mostly preferred the United paint decos (which is lucky for me as I live in Japan) but Hasbro's Wheeljack looks better as he doesn't have that unnecessary metallic green paint which doesn't look good.
I don't think the metallic paint does much for Scourge either.

Precisely!!! I had Hasbro's version of G2 Prime in my hot little hands today and I put it back on the display because their version with the blue/black cab looks...like...CRAP!! Passed on Tracks as well today because of that ugly excuse for a flame job on his hood. In fact, after seeing pictures of the United figures and then getting the Hasbro versions in hand, I've left every single one on the shelf and walked out of the store empty handed. After 5 minutes of mental debating I even put Perceptor back. I'll get Thundercracker and Kup regardless but that's probably it. United has just ruined it for me. Makes Hasbro's attempts look beyond cheap. Yeah, I know that United would cost me a ton more but I'll go without rather than settle for half-ass stuff.

Well that's a relief! I, too, prefer the Generations Wheeljack, and I would have gotten Takara's if I like the look better since Wheeljack is one of my three favorite Autobots. I'm already a bit behind on my personal fund having preordered Takara's Perceptor.

I'm also glad it's not a Reveal the Shield figure with a stupid rubsign on it! :)
