Good to hear. :)

I've been hearing some flack that it's not as good as the Bruticus upgrade, which is true... because it was the first upgrade set. And it doesn't need as much equipment to make it good. But that's just me. I love the thing.

I got the snowman set but lately i just havent been feeling it. Looks considerably puny next to bruticus. Was actually thinking about trying to sell it @ botcon this year..

Agree. I sold mine because the proportions are a bit off and he looks really small next to Bruticus.

Really? I think it makes sense to be 'small' next to Bruticus. All Superion needed was some limbs attachments, not full-on new toys like Bruticus did to get upgraded to Classic status.

I could have lived with the size difference. It was how high waisted this figure looked along with the awkward arm connections that bothered me.

Don't get me wrong, Fansproject did wonders with this. I just think the Bruticus set created a better gestalt in the end.

Yes, it is the better gestalt. I won't deny that... but it seems the attitude of some is that the first crossfire set is bad because it's the first.

It's not bad, but it's not fantastic either. It's good. Period.

I got to thinking about what was said earlier, and I have to say that the first Crossfire set is still the weakest of them all, no matter how you slice it.

If you owned Crossfire 2 before this, then of course you'll be let down. (And justifiably so.)

If you owned 1 first, then bought 2, you're still going to be let down by 1, because there is a substantial difference in both quality and quantity. There's a lot of pieces in both sets, but when you see the finished product in 1, you do sit back (or at least I did) and say "That's it?".

That doesn't make it unworthy of a purchase, that doesn't make it junk, quite the contrary, but don't expect greatness out of it, because you're not gonna get it.

For some people, it floats their boat, for others it's just not gonna cut it.

I'm one of those caught somewhat in the middle but leaning towards floatin' the boat.

I'm okay with the first Crossfire set. It kind of mimics the thin lanky appearance of G1 Superion so in some ways it works.

Didn't have the chrome on mine wear away ... but I think I only ttried that configuration once. Some parts of the armor mode seemed silly and the radar dish was one. No stress marks on my set either after assembling it.

The first Crossfire set is essential to make Superion look decent, IMHO. Although I have to agree that the arms are still somewhat hard to swallow, they're nowhere near as bad as the arms as they originally were.

Soit's going for $100 on ebay? Yikes! No, that's way too expencive for a set that doesn't even give you a robot.

You also have to factor in what you're starting with... On its own, I thought the Bruticus set was pretty cool. I only bought the Superion set because of how impressed I was with Bruticus...and I was highly disappointed. Stands to reason the add-on that they did a lot less for, for the less impressive set to start, isn't going to knock your socks off like CF-2. I look at CF-1 as simply display fodder to make Superion look decent...the individual figs aren't really any fun anyhow so I don't care too much how they incorporate. Cool that FP put the effort into making them interact with both modes, but I can't imagine I'll use the individual configuration more than once, if ever. I do wish I woulda jumped on this set at the original price, though (even better, the Snowman version)...but I thought Superion sucked and I thought the price was high so I didn't bother. Now I'm getting it just for the display factor for my Classics collection, ironically at more than a 50% markup...but I've started investing a lot more time, effort, and money into my Classics collection in the last year.

On the subject of how much you get in this set and how good it is, it's worth noting that the original retail price was something like $50. It was worth that much back then, IMO.

Ugh, bruticus's shoulder piece is busted now. The heck happened to quality control? This hasn't happened to the majority of people who own this set! :BANG_HEAD:

That really sucks, dude. Just went and checked on mine- everything's kool. I know that FP has rules on emailing about damaged items. I didn't find that out until after i sent one in about the clip inside City Commanders arm that broke off when I was trying to put it on. Now I'm really limited in being able to pose him. If it's still part of the recall they had right before they were supposed to ship out, maybe you can email them over it and get a replacement........
