"The notion that most TF fans are unfit and slow is a common misconception. Watch when a new figure is revealed that isn't based on a G1 design, and you'll see a sizeable detachment of them sprinting to their keyboards to type "easy pass" so quickly it'll make your head spin."

I guess he's just an extreme take on the animated version of him I was looking forward to having two big heroes working together. I might still pick one up, if I get one for cheap. I do like how big the leader class version is.

The toy is great and the character in the film is great. I'm glad that he didn't redeem himself cos that would have been too cheezy. Yeah, he's a colossal douche but it made the story great.

That's what I'm getting here.
I mean no offense, but you don't think that seems silly? After spending $8.00 for the Cyberverse, $20.00 for the Voyager and $40-45.00 for the Leader, ya'll are basically telling me you can't enjoy the figure anymore because he was a douche on screen?
...I'm floored.
What about letting the figure stand on it's own? A fantastic design, a terrific transformation, and neat gimmicks. For the most part, model accurate too.
Megatron's a mass murderer, I still have him in my collection. Optimus is wackjob crazy in battle and lowers himself to Decepticon levels, and he's quite possibly one of the best figures ever made.
I'm just flabbergasted, that's all.

Not only that, this might be ruin it for some people who might be scouting this site for opinions about LC Sen Prime that could be a gift for a child or a collector.
I'm a little surprised by your lack of understanding. As a collector, I'm drawn to figures who represent characters I adored as a child. I absolutely love the way G1 Starscream was portrayed in the cartoon, so I'll pretty much buy any figure that's a reference tot hat character. SP was a douche in the film, how is it so hard to understand that people don't want a toy that represents this character in this collection? I felt the same way when I got home, but the figure is pretty awesome so I'll let it slide. I definitely won't be buying anymore iterations of the character though.
Seriously, how can you call yourself a TF fan when you can't understand why someone doesn't particularly like a toy that represents a horrible character? I'm sure you'd be more understanding if people bought a toy because it represented their FAVORITE character. It's kind of the same premise.

Already off to a bad start with this post. You're letting your emotions override your sensibilities. You have no right to make such judgments.
WolfDawg wrote:As a collector, I'm drawn to figures who represent characters I adored as a child. I absolutely love the way G1 Starscream was portrayed in the cartoon, so I'll pretty much buy any figure that's a reference to that character.
Right...and there's nothing wrong with that.
WolfDawg wrote:SP was a douche in the film, how is it so hard to understand that people don't want a toy that represents this character in this collection?
Because of the previous statement you made. You'll buy almost everything named Starscream, because you love him, and can't stand Sentinel Prime because he was a douche. Do you see why that's just ridiculous?
Starscream:
A coward.
A liar.
A traitor.
None of those are good qualities. Why would anyone want THAT douche bag in their collection? Because he's cool. Both in character and toy.
Sentinel Prime:
This universe's Starscream (What Starscream would've been.).
A character with a twist. (A traitor with a backstory that'll get your emotions riled up, which is what he's supposed to do.)
He lied.
But he was no coward, not until the last minute.
There's no difference between the two characters, at their core. And while this Sentinel Prime is not the bumbling, self assured failure of an asshole like his previous iterations, he is every bit like the previous ones. Power mad, arrogant, dirty. The difference? This one's been a success.
I'm sorry, but your argument is flawed and is being driven by emotion for some reason. You cannot have your cake and it too.
WolfDawg wrote:I felt the same way when I got home, but the figure is pretty awesome so I'll let it slide. I definitely won't be buying anymore iterations of the character though.
What's truly sad is that you're serious. It is your opinion, and of course, you're entitled to it. No one has the right to take it from you. We do, however, reserve the right to point out flaws in your thinking when you become emotional to the point that you're nearly crossing the line into offensiveness.
Starscream is utter trash of a being, with some of the worst qualities, yet you buy him up. Sentinel Prime is the same thing at his core, yet he's not worth buying. You do realize that doesn't make any sense?
WolfDawg wrote:Seriously, how can you call yourself a TF fan when you can't understand why someone doesn't particularly like a toy that represents a horrible character? Okay, now you've crossed a line here. You're playing that "TRUE FAN" card. Guess what? It's not welcomed at this game, EVER. You have no right to question whether or not he's a fan, simply because his opinion differs from your's.
And no, neither he, nor I can understand why someone would dislike a toy based on their character's on screen adventures. Not when the toy should be allowed to stand on it's own merits. Also, you use one of the worst examples to back up your argument with. (Starscream vs. Sentinel Prime) There by proving that this entire post was emotionally driven, and not allowing yourself to see the situation clearly. I think you're a bit TOO emotionally invested in this thing, and you're letting the fantasy/reality line blur a bit.
Yes, the character did sucky things.
Yes, the toy on it's own merits is awesome.
As you can see, other than look and name, they really don't have to go hand in hand. I can separate myself from the fiction and toy. Sometimes I can embrace both, I don't have to. I know where to draw that line, before I become offensive.
Here's the part that really has me going BWUH?
WolfDawg wrote:I'm sure you'd be more understanding if people bought a toy because it represented their FAVORITE character. It's kind of the same premise.
How do you know he's not someone's favorite character? He's been in comics, he's been in video games, he's been in cartoons. He's had several toys before this one. Surely, someone out there in the fandom considers Sentinel their favorite. That's their right. Sentinel in Animated made me want to punch the screen and reach in play "Does Wayne Brady Have To Choke A Bitch?", but I still bought his toy. Why? Because it's a pretty good figure, to be honest. Show accurate for the most part, and just a nice design all around.
I, and MANY others like me, do exactly the opposite of what you're preaching here. If you want to stand on principle, that's fine, that's your right. You'll just be standing alone. And because you were slightly offensive, don't expect any of us to come rushing over to help you get back up when your legs have become tired of you standing there, and decide to give out on you.
You logic is flawed in this instance (NOTE: I didn't say in general), and this entire post grinds my gears. It was offensive when it needn't be, it made little to no sense when facts are presented, and the "TRUE FAN" card play was worthy of us losing respect for you.
Everyone is allowed to be a fan as they see fit. Especially if it's harming no one else.
