Why probably? There is no indication of that and previous botcon sets have only been 5 components. Not only that but only hasbro has six members while Takara, which is the one between the two to always issue these combiners as a set, has consistently had 5 members. Not saying this wont is impossible to have six, but I just wanted to show evidence (or lack of ) that we shouldnt take a sixth member for granted.

Takara's G2 Superion set has Powerglide in it as well. So there is a precedence. But really, I don't think this will be a 6 set piece. Who would the 6th member be?

No, Takara is NOT releasing a G2 superion set as far as we know. That G2 set is released by hasbro. There is 0 precedence for takara since they are going strictly G1, so 5 members.

Anyways, I didnt say there wasnt precedence, I just said there was also precedence for there being only 5 in a set. Also, Botcon did confirm this was a 5 part combiner, so for the sake of people being dissapointed, I think its best we stick to what they actually tell us. IF there is a "6th" part, then it would surely be one of those attendee only figures and thus not available with the rest if people buy the stright up normal set.

Oh. I thought that boxset was Takara. Thought it had Takara artwork on the front. Or I'm completely confused.

Meh.
G2 Superion is a Platinum Edition release, which is a line done by Hasbro/Hasbro Asia.

As far as packaging artwork between Hasbro and Takara releases is concerned, Takara doesn't always use Japanese artists' work for their releases. In some cases, they use art produced by Western artists, or in other cases they just use the same artwork as the Hasbro releases.

I thought they used a recolour of the Unite Superion artwork. Which does match the platinum stuff in terms of style.

Anyway, there's no 6th person to put in this set anyway. The Council, Tarantulas and Ravage were the only 5 guys we ever saw. So it's probably gonna be a 5 m an set, with one of the remaining members a voyager. My money is on Cicadacon being a Silverbolt repaint. Can't think who they would use for Sea Clamp.

Maybe similar artists, but not the same art:

Anyway,
Insurgent wrote:Anyway, there's no 6th person to put in this set anyway. The Council, Tarantulas and Ravage were the only 5 guys we ever saw. My guesses for the last two are as follows:

If Sea Clamp is the torso:
Sea Clamp - Hot Spot (two new heads)
Cicadacon - Air Raid with Skydive's head

If Cicadacon is the torso:
Cicadacon - Cyclonus (two new heads)
Sea clamp - Mirage redeco

My reasonings for each: There will be five new heads, but the total number of head there are is six when one counts all five robot mode heads plus the combiner head, so one of them will have to be left alone.

The Air Raid mold would be perfect for Cicadacon because of its wings that fold upward, and the Skydive head would be a close enough match to Cicadacon's cartoon head. Air Raid and Skydive appear to be pretooled reshells of each other, so it would be ideal if the Club could get Skydive's head onto Air Raid's body.

Sea Clamp from Hot Spot isn't a perfect fit, but then none of the other Voyagers really fit him that much either. But the Hot Spot mold is a fire truck, and both a fire truck and a lobster are associated with water, so there's that connection. Admittedly, this is the weakest guess on my part.

For the other case, the Cyclonus mold, like Air Raid, has upward-spread wings in robot mode, which would work for Cicadacon.

Sea Clamp from Mirage is mostly based on the Mirage head being close enough to Sea Clamp's cartoon head with its roundness, tiny eyes, and slitted mouth. And the mold has a smaller build like how Sea Clamp's cartoon model was on the smaller side in the show.

In all honestly, though, the Rook mold would have been more ideal for Sea Clamp than for Tarantulas.

I've been away/busy, but despite being way late on this, I wanted to come in and say that Ramhorn looks really cool to me. Well done concept on that one. Did we ever find out if the drill is a Hasbro mold thing, or is it a new piece of tooling that TFCC is doing for it?

Most suspect it to be an unused Hasbro/Takara-pretooling, and which would mean that if anyone were to try and give us a full Computron (with this being for Nosecone), it'd more probably be a release from Takara.

"Dawn of the Predacus" BotCon 2016 Cicadacon Preview

Postby william-james88 » Wed Oct 21, 2015 10:17 am

Motto: "'till All Are One"
Fellow Seibertronian and Fun Pub member TF_JW has posted a fun link on our Official Transformers Collectors' Club and BotCon Forum:

TF_JW wrote:Cicadacon reveal preview! The toy mock up itself will be put online tomorrow

According to the preview image posted below, it seems Cicadacon will be a repaint of Skydive (also shown below) and the full reveal will be shown tomorrow on Botcon's site. Since Cicadacon is forming a limb, this means that Sea Clamp will be forming the torso. Which mold do you think will be used? Let us know in the Discussion!

Whats he going to be, straight up red and silver? On a straight redeco? Not as interesting :(

If I had to choose between this and the subscription figures, I'd pick the subscription. More varied and interesting. I hope there will be enough to get in singles. I'd want just the limbs really.

I agree with the Twincast, should have done Dawn of Futures Past 2.
I have been into transformers since 1984.
While I love G1 I also love new innovations and takes on the characters.
I prefer official Hasbro releases of stuff for the most part
I'm not a huge fan of Japanese original Transformers media or designs.
It's easier for me to say which are my LEAST favorite toy lines: Beast Machines, Robots in Disguise.

I'm glad they got Skydive's head... but was really hoping it would have been attached to Air Raid's body. I guess they couldn't mix and match them like what was done for 2006 Dinobot using the Armada Hoist head on the Cybertron Longrack body.

But I see why they went with Skydive for Cicadacon. That head is a close enough match to the cartoon head.

Though, now this means that Sea Clamp is the torso. On one hand, it makes sense for him to be the biggest one since his toy was the biggest of the three. On the other hand, however, Sea Clamp's toy formed the legs and waist of the combiner rather than the torso. And with this set being so heavily based on the show, Sea Clamp was the smallest of the three in the show, with Cicadacon being the biggest. Hrmm.

Sabr, I really dont think its a perfect science. Already there is the idea that theeir red tint might be a combination of their real colour and the red light, plus there is the idea of merging the alt modes with those of the original toys and going from a 3 character to a 5 character combiner. It's not going to all work out perfectly.

Just in response to your puzzlement over who was chosen as the bogger bot and how that makes sense looking at tit one way but not another. and I am saying there is no way this set would have made perfect sense.

I don't think any of the torsos are a good enough fit for Sea Clamp, to be honest. :-|

And I would find it really odd if the Club would give us 2 Hotspot molds for their combiners. I mean they did give us 2 tarantulus figures back to back but that's the character. I would doubt that with 3 bombiner torsos, we would get the second twice. I really dont see him with the Superion Torso so I guess menasor would be the one. He does have big powerful arms.

You know, that was the only reasoning I too could think of for Hot Spot as Sea Clamp. Even though we're getting Onslaught for Thunder Mayhem, I feel as though Hot Spot would be the least inappropriate fit, as I really can't see Sea Clamp as being either a truck or a jet.
