Animated Shockwave as nemesis prime?
- Weapon: Null-Ray Rifle
So, this was this sort of strange idea I had. I was kind of hoping we'd get a nemesis prime repaint from the animated line. Not Black Convoy, but a decepticon. Now, shockwave is in the colors of nemesis prime, and has his longarm prime mode. He is like an evil prime. He pretty much fits.
Like, if I was to have nemesis prime/scourge shelf, would be fit in there, or is it a totally bad idea?
Obviously, I can do whatever I want, but was wondering how other people felt about him.

Standard Animated Shockwave - Bugar Green/Grey
Target Anmimated Shockwave - Purple/Grey
Nemesis Prime - Black/Teal/Red/Grey
I'm missing the connection between these characters here...

Maybe do some comparison shots for yourself or move on completely if you still dont see it. Dont get hung up on it if you dont.

I have the grey Animated Shockwave / Longarm Prime. And he "fits" the character of Nemesis Prime about as well as G1 Bumblebee "fits" the character of Animated Prowl.

No, I get it.
Longarm Prime is a purple Decepticon. He is an evil, "nemesis" Prime. After all, in Animated Prime is a rank achievable by anyone and he is a Decepticon spy that earned the title.
Bravo for thinking out of the box!

If you really dont see it, I dont know why you bother commenting. It's not a full on homage, but, it's certainly there in the cartoon for longarm prime's coloring, and didn't translate as well into the toy.
Still, I see it. He'll blend in as well as animated starscream will with his armada or cybertron counter parts.
Really, the fact that he's an evil prime also highlights this for me.

The reason I bothered commenting was because I see zero logic in your choice for an Animated Nemesis Prime substitute. That's like saying Animated Blackarachnia could serve as an Animated Scorponok substitute because they're both arachnids, then getting pissed when nobody sees the "tribute". I mean, most characters in the Transformers universe are color and mold specific. There has only been ONE instance in which a Black Convoy/Nemesis Prime was not a repaint of an Optimus Prime mold (the Spychanger Nemesis Prime which itself is based on the larger G2 Laser Prime). I mean, this whole thing makes even LESS sense when you consider that Takara has already released an Animated Black convoy. Hell, buy one of those and slap a Decepticon symbol on him.

Clearly, as seen above, you yourself asked for both sides of issue. Getting snotty for getting responses that you asked for (though obviously didn't want) is just making yourself look bad. If your mind is made up and you don't actually want any feedback then I'm not sure why you posted.
On to the issue, the general consensus from this board will be that Shockwave does NOT make a good Nemesis Prime. In Transformers lore, Nemesis Prime is accepted as a bizarro Optimus Prime and thats really it. Additionally, the colors don't really add up to Nemesis Prime. Shockwave's animated colors are a throwback to his G1 form and don't at all, in my opinion, say "Nemesis Prime".
While I can understand your logic behind a Longarm Prime/Nemesis Prime connection, the series somewhat steals your thunder by revealing LP to be Shockwave. The decepticons don't need an evil version of LP to advance thier goals because they already have an evil version in Shockwave. Plus, you can really argue that Longarm Prime never existed anyway since it was just Shockwave in disguise.
As you said, you can do whatever you want. However, I'll tell you that no somewhat knowledgable Transformers person is going to see a purple Shockwave as Nemesis Prime. Even if you repaint him in Nemesis Prime colors, people will still have a hard time connecting with your vision.

I'm not referring to the purple shockwave at all. I think if people think I am, then they're very confused.
I dont know why people are saying I'm pissed off or being snotty, sorry I'm comming off that way, I really dont mean to. I just kind of shrug my arms and scratch my head at people that go "I dont see it" like, what am I suppose to do? Point out to you nemesis prime and longarm prime use the same color scheme, even though you claim they dont? Why waste my time on people like that? I tell them to move on so my topic can.
I don't see nemesis prime always needing to be a repaint of prime from that series, seeing as how in RiD, he was a repaint of a prime from a different mold. The animated line is just more pastel and softer versions of the originals. When I look at shockwave in his disguise colors, that's exactly what I see.

But they don't use the same colour scheme. You can't claim grey is a softer black. Prowl is black. Or is black a softer version of his G1 white with a dash of black here and there?
You really do come across as being upset with people who didn't just agree with you even though you asked for our opinions.
Nemesis Prime has always been a version of Optimus, yes, even in RiD. Scourge scanned two things and one of those was Optimus, that's how he ended up being a different mold. Perhaps there's a difference between an evil Prime that can be described as a nemesis and Nemesis Prime. To be described as a nemesis you must be someones worst enemy. So if Shockwave had a vendetta against Optimus (I haven't seen the third season yet so I don't know) then he can be described as Optimus's nemesis but I still wouldn't call him Nemesis Prime since he doesn't fit the black/teal colour scheme. Still, you could paint him if you want.

Well when someone says Nemesis prime's colors are "black, gray, teal and red" and shockwave is colored using black, gray, teal and red. I just dont know what to say.

I've just looked at the gallery and my memory has failed me. Yes, he does share the colour scheme after all so I apologise. My other comments still stand though as he only shares a colour scheme.

Yes, it's true, he doesn't look like an optimus. He doesn't fit that part of what nemesis prime or scourge has done Though, that's kind of my hook here, Longarm Prime, is a prime, but not an optimus, or based on him physically.
I feel like it works on some level though. Like, Shockwave being a prime, and being evil, and his color scheme, like it's semi-cirle going into a round hole. It fits, but it's not completely.
It's there, it's a homage, but, eh...shakey I guess, at best.

Originally Prime was part of his name. I may be wrong but as far as I'm aware it's only in TFA and ROTF that Prime has been used as a title which means your logic is a bit stronger in the TFAverse. It doesn't work for me but I don't like the idea of Optimus Prime being a subordinate - his whole name suggests superiority to everyone else and that's how it was created to be so that's part of why I wouldn't use your idea. If colour is enough for you then I won't think any less of you!

Sorry, I don't see the connection. Colors may be similar, but lots of TFs share color schemes.

Re: Animated Shockwave as nemesis prime?
While I wouldn't be referring to Shockwave as Nemesis Prime myself, I can see where you're going and don't think people should be getting upset with you. Longarm Prime is an evil Prime. While not a black repaint, he bears the rank of Prime and is evil.
Does Nemesis Prime always have to be a black repaint of Optimus or can it be a black repaint of any Prime?
It's got me thinking about Nemesis Breaker and Titanium Menasor.
Nemesis Breaker sports the typical colours of Nemesis Prime and his mold has since been used for Leo Prime so retroactively, could he not be seen as a Nemesis Prime?
Titanium Menasor is a black repaint of Rodimus Prime. Could he not be a Nemesis Prime?
All of us fans have had some unique ideas about TF's at some stage. Personally, I see Robotmasters Wingstun as pre-Beast Waspinator.
They share a similar colour scheme.
They've shared a mold.
They've both worked for BW Megatron.
I sincerely doubt Waspinator was so called before getting his beast mode.
Probably my greatest leap in logic stems from the name Wingstun reminding me of Beesting. Bee/Wasp, like I said a big leap in logic.
Plus Wingstun is pretty much a blank slate as a character and if Tigatron and Cheetor can retroactively become G1 via Device Label, why can't Waspy?
Sorry to go off topic but it's a theory I've wanted to share.
At the end of the day, they're your toys and you can do what you like.

All Nemesis Primes have had one thing in common: they were clones. It's that little point that has me dismiss the the idea of Animated Shockwave of a Nemesis Prime, since he's not a clone. Well, he did get his disguise from old archives, but he's still not a clone since the original is not around.

Wasn't the first Nemesis Prime a repaint of the deluxe Armada Prime? The one in RiD was named Scourge (Black Convoy in Japan)

Eh, either I'm confused by what you are saying or you aren't quite right. As far back as G1, "Prime has always been a title signifying autobot leader ship. Orion Pax became Optimus Prime when he assumed command. Likewise with Hot Rod who became Rodimus Prime when he took over. Before Optimus Prime was Sentinel Prime, although I'm not sure if SP's original name was ever established. ROTF is more in line with the rest of the Transformers universe than TFA as far as the "Prime" title is concerned. TFA does its own thing and takes the title and makes it a rank in the Autobot military with the title "Magnus" being supreme commander over "Prime".

Not so fond of Nemesis, Scourge was alot more interesting.
