now i know ppl have told stories about ppl laughing that adults still collect toys and what not but this happened to me and a friend today. Were 16 and we went into walmart to look for some tfs and called over a guy to ask if they had any deluxe in the back he laughed and said i hope this is for ur younger brother or cousin and we gave him a dirty look and he went away but its kinda annoying being labeled and crap just wanted to share

Tell him where to shove his $6 an hour.

I make more than that, and I don't even work.

Store employees are beneath us. If they feel the need to insult us because of their own shortcomings, then it's their fault when the wake up two hours later strapped to one of the store's support pillars.

yup a lot of store employees, are rude and are jerks.... especially when you ask them to check or get something in the back for you. i mean, why are they distressed that they have to check in the back for you.... isnt that part of their job. i mean, they do WORK there. dont they already know what theyre getting themselves into when they applied for a job, including dealing with customers :? . im always dumbfounded when workers sigh and **** whenever you ask them a question, or for help, or if they can get more in the back.

Make a complaint. The bitch is there to serve customers, not comment on their purchases.

Or you could simply get over it and ignore it.

Harsh? Yeah maybe, but honestly. Who gives a **** what some store employee thinks about you buying toys? Is their opinion of you going to seriously affect you?

You collect because you enjoy it. That's all that matters. Definitely not some opinion of some store worker you'd never even met until that exchange.

I've had it happen to me, but I just shrugged my shoulders and walked away.

It rarely happens to me, but then again I usually talk to as few store employees as I can when I go shopping for TFs. When they do comment, I sometimes lie and tell them it's for a nephew's birthday. I'm rarely hassled, because they can usually tell I could beat the crap out of them if I wanted. I just choose not to. :-P

Blanket statements like that are what perpetuate mis-understandings and prejudice.

People need to work to make money. Some enjoy their jobs some don't. To say they are all beneath us, well that's just wrong. There are very helpful store employees, some collectors are store employees. You might want to define that 'us' that they are below.

And it's not their job to run in back every time a customer asks. If they are doing their job and the shelves are stocked, and they have everything priced correctly, then they are doing it. Store employees are not our personal slaves to make do what we want. Be kind and they may be kind back. If they aren't, move on, ask someone else, go to another store, but don't curse them for things that you are not sure about. One never knows what may have happened that day before they came to work to have them react certain ways. Sometimes putting our lives before our jobs happens, no matter how hard we try not to let it.

I know many of you are probably just kidding around. That's cool, there's always a patsy, and the toy collectors and store employees often seem to be warring with one another to see who can treat the other the worst, without much to go on other than simple generalizations about the other's character.

Sorry I have a headache and got a bit preachy. I feel sorry for anyone who has been called this or that based on an affiliation and not their own personal merit.

Indeed that employee was a douche, but to continue to say all are, well that's just not right.

Next time you encountered jerk employee like this, tell them you also collect Barbie dolls and you need him to look in the back of their warehouse to find her (the doll) special release Britney Spears brand underwear.

Cheers!

seriously, what happened to a thing called customer service? back in the day you'd walk into a store and people would be nice and would go out of there way to help you. heck, when i was in high school i worked at an officemax and if you didn't treat the customers well you wouldn't be working there for very long. nowadays you walk into a store and it's all a bunch of young punks or just grumpy ass old people who always get an attitude or raise there eyebrows every time you ask them for some help. WHY DO THEY HIRE THESE PEOPLE? not only that but shouldn't they hire people who actually know a little about what they're selling? if you want to work in the electronics section, know something about electronics!! if you work in the toy section...know what a freaking transformer is!!! :-x

I agree, I work in Meijer and we get alot of rude customers and it's annoying but I don't show any rudeness back or anything.

I'm also a fellow collector aswell and I dont think twice about insulting another collector, hell when I was looking at Transformers there was a StarWars collector and we started to talk about the old days of collecting and how it's not the same and stuff. Wheeee
