I feel like a dousche for actually asking a question concerning Armada, but there isn't a primary resource existing for differences between American and Japanese releases. i'm itching closer to completing my Armada collection... So help a brother out, I'm getting Micron Legend Overload, but is the Armada version worth it too? Pics of both of them being held up by your extremely good looking sister or girlfriend is preferable.

The two of them have minimal differences. The only major one is that ML Ultra Magnus has a grey face, while A-Overload's is blue.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

From left to right:
ML Ultra Magnus, Crystal Ultra Magnus, and Armada Overload.

As JelZe said there is minimal differences. The red is deeper on the ML version if you want extra clarification after I myself compared all three when I had Overload. As I would take a pic of my sons regular ML Ultra Magnus, but last time I checked my infant son took apart minicon Magnus and I can't find his legs so the body would be for a pic. I still have my crystal Ultra Magnus connected to Fianl Battle Convoy.

Personally the crystal one is my favorite. And if you're going to get in on ML/Armada, just get the Magma Convoy DX giftset. You also get X-Dimension bumble as well and he is only available with this set.

For the record, Overload was blue faced in the comics. I don't remember if he actually showed his robot mode in the show, but I do not think it was seen. Rather he went straight from truck to gun. I think the US release is the more appropriate version due to this.

I have to slightly disagree with you. The reason being because the ML versions were all painted to match show accuracy. I think we may have missed an episode of what Overload/Ultra Magnus looks like. Seeing how I just ended watching ZZ Gundam finally. I may try to finish up Micron Legend (yes it's better than Armada in animation:D)and brush up on my Japanese a bit since there is no subtitles to see if they ever showed him in robot mode. If he is to be blue then Takara just made up a face for him.

I would skip Armada Overload and go with the Energon Ultra magnus repaint. But then that wouldn't help with completing the Armada toys.

Apparently he was blue in the cartoon as well:

I know Takara went for accuracy where possible in Micron Legends, but this might be the one instance where they were just wrong. After all, by Season 2 the US had all the paint schemes correct if not missing some detailing on them.

They were pretty inaccurate all the way through the whole line. the toys were produced before the animation for the US was done. I need to find which episode those screencaps came from. There are a few differences in animation between Micron Legend and Armada so maybe Japan did something different.

I agree that Takara may have did their own tweaking when it came to Overload's face. Still I liked all versions of Overload because I had the US version first before I got both ML versions.

It looks like the show featured the Armada version's Blue face but the Micron Legend's body.

I have the micron legend ultra magnus. Hes not bad really. The packaging he came in was actually really small and came in sort of separate pieces and its more compact if you just have him in storage where the armada overload is not you got this huge package. Personally I thought I wouldn't like the gray face with green eyes but I dig it now. I do believe hes more cheaper then the armada version, at least on bbts he was for me. If I was you and money was an issue, I'd get him.
We are so much more then mere machines, intelligent robots who think and feel. Yet, we have fell to greed and destruction by our own causes! From this moment I stand my own ground, on my own faction to achieve true unity! :CON:
