Armada Prime Question
- Weapon: Spinning Augers
Hey, i got 2 armada primes. 1 is with the trailer in the big box that isn't opened and the other one is just armada prime himself with no trailer. I heard or read somewhere that the prime with no trailer really isn't much of a collector's item, so i can break him outta the card w/o depreciating some grand worth that he currently has?
Hes been makin some love noises at my Voyager Bulkhead and i want them to make me some minicons!

Deluxe Armada Prime is a pretty good stand alone figure. Not as great as it is hyped up to be, but it's still a solid figure for it's time. Leader Armada Prime, yeah, keep it in the box.

A bit of a warning, the Armada Optimus with the trailer is prone to breaking at his elbows(gold elbows). The Japanese version fixed that(his elbows are yellow).............one of my bad luck experiences with this particular mold.

Thats weird....just noticed that my boxed OP with the trailer doesn't have the advertisement for the Unicron Wars. But yeah, i'm gonna open the one without the trailer. Thanks for the info!

Re: Armada Prime Question
The Unicron Battles Prime is almost certainly a later release, so possibly the original one, sans Unicron Battles branding will be rarer and worth more. If such a thing exists in Hasbro TFs these days that is.
Are Armada Leader Primes really worth money?
Also, breaking elbows? Does that carry through to the Powerlinx blue repaint? That's the one I have.

assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.

Packaging differences are not really sought after collectors items any more.
That was really the result and carry over of some of the original Star Wars toys.
Fenrir seems to be an exception, while I don't doubt his breakage, he's the only person I know who has had it happen even once, much less multiple times.
I think I own five of this mold now with no problems.

Yes Leader Armada Primes have become very sought after. Powerlinx version is going for 100 bucks easy. While the K-Mart exclusive gold repaint is much more valuable, and sadly more prone to crumbling to dust.
Powerlinx Prime is safe from the elbow breakage, because his elbows are red, not gold.
Its the gold plastic syndrome all over again, and being now almost 10 years old means most of the gold plastic is now extremely brittle.
Fortunately mine is in very good shape, no cracks, no stress marks its holding up surprisingly well.
Super-Con Prime has been released several times though, most recent being the Universe Sam's Club exclusive version in a 5 pack. Enough times so that getting at least one version of him is quite easy, so they aren't as expensive. The Japanese Nemesis/Scourge repaint is much rarer, and thus much more valuable.

Re: Armada Prime Question
$100 for Powerlinx Prime? I paid a tenner or something stupid. It's almost enough to make me wish I had kept him boxed, at least until I think about how awesome it was to have him with his Powerlinx Jetfire trousers on and Ultra Mganus shoulderpad guns!

I think it's more of a design flaw than the plastics used. Not all gold plastic breaks easily you know? (GPS misconception #1). I own both regular and Powerlinx version without problems.
I still want the deluxe one, Armada and Cybertron (the Cybertron one will be my Roller

Armada Prime does not suffer from GPS. It's not the same kind of gold plastic at all. Also I just got the Powerlinx version MISB for $40 shipped less than six months ago.

There are no reports that I know of stating that this toy is in any kind of disrepair.
The reports of death by GPS are greatly exaggerated.

I've heard a couple of stories about the K-Mart version's arms just breaking off, And a regular Prime that was kept in a toy store window for a while being removed from the window and the arm just kind of broke off when moved. Could be deterioration by the sun though. Granted its nothing wide spread, but still, the elbow plastic for both Primes is gold as opposed to being painted.
The elbow plastic also shows the tell tale swirls of the gold plastic, at least on mine.
Other than that I haven't experienced any deterioration on mine either just passing on what I've heard/seen albeit from afar.

The article shows gold plastic figures not chromed. Chrome just flakes off since its painted on as far as I know.

So that's the gold Optimus. Anyway without hijacking the thread, the yellow colored elbow of my Micron Legend Convoy hasn't failed me yet.
Oh btw, if you don't have any intention of selling him I advice you get him out of his plastic twisty ties prison, you also run the risk of battery leaks destroying his "remote control" electronics.

Final Battle Convoy is superior to Powerlinx Prime in almost every way. Though I like the trailer more on PL Prime than I do on Final Battle Prime, the cab for Final Battle Prime is toon accurate. However, the extra goodies are too much to let stay in the package, so he must be freed. As for Deluxe Prime, I own the Micron Legend version of Prime and Nemesis Prime or Scourge. The Micron Legend Scourge has mostly silver comored parts where Armada Nemesis has tan. Run-Over is painted silver but has a purple stripe instead of blue. All freed form there packages.
For what I paid for Final Battle prime, I would make more selling him separately then I would as a whole. Anyone want to buy X-Dimension Bumble?
