Hi all:

I just got an e-mail from BBTS for some accessories for FoC Grimlock. One (AoT-001) is a retro/G1 looking head (with both blue and red light piping available.) The other (AoT-002) is a double barreled blaster. Both are available in regular and metallic versions.

No, you're thinking about the Workshop's upgrade kit. That's immediately what I thought when I read the thread title.

I can see picking up one of these blasters.

You're better off waiting for the one that Encline is working on via Workshop L.O.D.

The set that they'll be offering includes the dino-belly/G1 Wings, with Blaster, sword and new head. Better bang for the buck.

What ever happened to the Encline design... Last I heard they said preorders were going to go up VERY soon, and then nothing?

I preordered the gun.

I can always cancel if Encline gets his out first.

I'll have the US and the Takara releases of the fig, so I can probably use both if I end up with both.

Nice but don't need it. I passed on FOC Grimlock altogether. Besides the fact that a Dinosaur built on Earth getting a "Cybertronian dino mode" is dumb to me, I tired of just Grimlock getting all the love. I'm confident Toyworld is going to give us some real Dinobots some time within 2 years.

I got a free Metallic Edition Arttek Head from TFsource a couple weeks ago (source points!), and bought a nice Silver Knight AOE Grimlock today to put that noggin on.

I have to give Arttek credit - the head is much nicer in person than I thought it would be. The promo shots made it appear smaller than it is - the head fills in the space nicely, and makes Grimlock seem more properly proportioned.

Also, it's a nice contrast to the Zenith Forge head, which I have installed on my Takara Grimlock. The ZF head is fierce: it has sharp, clean, and pronounced lines. The AT head sports softer details and is less angular, which gives Grimlock a gentler yet noble look that's more in line with the G1 cartoon. Side by side, between the different heads and decos, the Takara and Silver Knight Grimlocks look like completely different figures/characters.

My only qualm is the metallic aspect of the AT head - it's more of a gunmetal grey. The color matches Silver Knight Grimlock's biceps' and upper legs' off-black matte, but the hands and feet are more of a glossy black. Because of this, I probably would have gone with the regular (more glossy black) AT head if I had a choice. This one was free, though, so I can't complain. I'll probably buy matching blasters to complete that G1 look.

Overall, a worthy acquisition!

My Grimlock has a little bit of everything from everybody. Im not planning to upgrade my chrome Grimlock unless Iron Factory matches the grey plastic with a re-issue wing set. I did give him the Zenith Forge dino chest just to fill the gap though...

I'd love to pick up the Iron Factory kit to round out Silver Knight Grimlock, but also need a color match. From what I understand, the Iron Factory kit matches Platinum Edition Grimlock best, but I'd rather not use him if I don't have too.
