There are slots on the side pieces that peg (see: LOOSELY) into tabs on the center of the torso. This recreates his 'boa-made-of-car-parts' look.

Classics - Hot Spot, Optimus Prime and new addition Brawn!

The colour scheme, hood-over-the-head, scale, even head sculpt (almost) screams Neo-Classics Brawn for me!
Not fussed about his spinning weapon so the addition of a couple of blasters will work better in my opinion.
SXS Gears would like alongside too!

The first pose with the hand rotated would be correct.

I wholeheartedly agree. Some good lighting can do miracles to even the blandest figure.
The galleries on here are a good example, but a lot of user-made photoshoots are excellent themselves.
