Thankfully we only have to put up with them for another week and then they get drowned out.

If he's had enough he's had enough. Good luck to him in his future endeavours.
(Though I half suspect this is just a dig at all the Negative Nancies out there)

Well, I hope it isn't true. The story of the first one might have sucked, but the action was outstanding. I don't think it's true, and even if it is, the 3rd film is supposed to come in 2012 which gives Bay 1 year to reconsider, with 2 to actually film it. Besides, I think the near-$billion box office RotF will make will probably help change his mind.

i am not sure if him pulling out would be good or bad. If TF1 is anything to go by then i want him to stay, but i think i will want to reserve judgement on him until ive seen his second film . . . Which happens to be any time after 7:30 on Saturday which is when the showing i am going to see ends!

I think this is a good thing, I think that Mr. Bay is just burned out for doin 2 straight big budget films he is tired of action movies that is understandable giving the fact that most of his movie his movies are nothing but action.

From Armageddon to Pearl Harbor I think he wants to move from that direction and go into another genre for the time being comedy or romance it will be wierd seeing him get into that stuff and also to see how it will turn out.

Ok so who will be directing Transformers 3 they need a guy that can combine story and action together I enjoyed the comedic stuff in the 1st film but I didnt want alot of it maybe during certain parts of the movie to break up the actions scenes.

Also in transformers 3 they need to spread out the action scenes and climatic battles more during the half-way point or towards the ending of the movie.

The 1st part or 1st hr or so will put everything into perspective and let us get caught up then they can introduce the robots, humans and get the story rolling good them get into the action scenes.

Micheal bay's promblem is he does all is action all at once and we get burned out time the end of the movie comes.

I enjoy Micheal Bays films he is the master of Action movies but he needs to spread out the action more and make more story.

As far as a Replacement goes I would like to see Roland Emmerich direct Transformers 3 he done a good job on Godzilla and also The Day After Tommorrow.

Also it is 2 or 3 years before 3 hits theaters and I am sure we will get a solid director between now and then.

What I am worryied about will this cause the original cast to leave the film or do that have a contract to be in the complete trilogy.

Sort of like how Kristen Dunst and Tobey Macuire was in all 3 spider-mans.

Wow, there is a God, maybe I’ll have to stop worshiping this elephant-thingy with like 100 arms now…Knowing Bay though, he might just pull a horrid 360-degree BS-turnaround just to stab more G1 fans in the heart….

People are too reboot happy.

Why reboot it if its not broken?

As much as ppl dog the story of tf1, the first 22 minutes of it had more than any 22 minute episode i ever saw. And the animation was actually consistant.

ok, lets say g1 didnt happen and it all started with beast wars. I wouldn't be here now... G1 had some great stories.... I Dawg the G1 Dawgers...always claiming its a toy commercial of course it was! the thing is is that THEY don't make cartoons like this anymore likewise with gi joe.... youll never see the rugrats getting into a firefight. :mrgreen:

I think this is a good thing for fans.

I'm calling shenanigans. There's no way MB would say he wants to make a film devoid of explosions! If it is true, however, he will be missed. Of course, the original Star Wars trilogy had a different director for each movie and they turned out great. Maybe the characters will be a bit more fleshed out and there won't be anymore robot--erm...danglies.

Are you kidding me? All the BS hating aside that I have for Bay, how can any work of art translated into cinema form be its best when the director has seemingly no love or even a decent amount of tolerance for the source material? Let’s ignore all of Micheal Bay’s faults as a director in which I’d get carpal-tunnel typing out…The dude simply doesn’t care about or have any true passion for the source material…He said that day 1 when Steven Speilberg called him outta the blue (After losing some sort of bet I’ve surmised), he said that day 2 when he somehow discovered TF had a huge fanbase and he says that day 700 when he vows to quit…How can someone like myself (again kinda ignoring his mediocrity as a movie director) respect that? Champion that?

As we’ve seen with the Batman franchise, Ironman, James Bond, Wolverine, etc.; These genre of movies nowadays are sort of trending toward dark-realism as opposed to camp…In the right hands I believe the Transformers franchise can do the same…Micheal Bay didn’t invent action movies (I know a shock huh?)…He was a car-commercial director who has yet to IMO break away from the generic approach used in that medium…So no matter how many kewl action scenes he puts in a given movie it’s still just a 2 hour commercial to me with all the generic stereotypes you’re gonna find in one…

TF 1 was neither endearing or above-average in any area to me, not the first 22 mins or the last 22 seconds….Save for 1 scene of Starscream transforming in midair that I thought was tight, it raped my childhood…Only a reboot can ease my mind, and hopefully Bay’s departure can open the way for a memorable TF movie that doesn’t just look like big budget soda-cans crushing each other to incoherent camera angles…

@ Burn - Security in numbers is always a flawed defense, but whatever keeps your car engine running I guess...

There are plenty of "fans" that consider the movie well done and will be sad to see bay leave as he's done a lot of positive things with the franchise, given us great new designs and a whole new universe. You are no more a fan of TF than they are. (and vise versa)

Bay did not make you see the movie and if you were so worried about your chilhood keeping its innosence you would not have seen it.

@ 5150 Cruiser- I’m definitely a G1-Loyalist, but if the movie was a good movie I would have converted…Star Trek IMO did a great job of rebooting the source material without completely alienating the true-fanbase…If something is GOOD, I’ll give it credit even if it isn’t exactly what I wanted…Bay’s rendition of TF is so beyond cookie-cutter, beyond generic I gotta use my G1-loyalty badge to slap kids around…I don’t want my son thinking this is the $hit I absolutely loved and worshiped as a child…Some stereotypical generic movie that could have been about ANYTHING if the robots didn’t call themselves Transformers…A subtle “Join the army” propaganda film like most of Bay’s movies…I just would have to ignore all that I am as a man to support this farce…Unfortunately all I have is this keyboard to expel my frustrations…

If every movie was directed in the same dark style nobody would go to the movies anymore. Who wants to see a bunch of depressing movies? Sure, we need films like Watchmen once in a while, but don't forget that movies are just an elaborate form of escapism.

TransFormers will always be an show-/movie-length commercial. It has been since G1 and continues to be that to this day. It's just a coincidence that we happen to like the stories they wrap the toys around just as much as the toys themselves. If you're a part of this fanbase you should know that like the back of your hand.

Nobody forced you to see it. Also, don't you think you're exaggerating? The movies didn't wipe G1 from existence.

Do you remember what happened when they rebooted Batman after the first two successful films? Two abominations were created: Batman Forever and Batman & Robin. They were so bad that Hollywood became afraid of superhero movies and it took them seven years just to re-reboot it. But, you know, maybe a similar situation would be for the best. It would make everyone realize how good TF1 (and presumably ROTF) actually are!
