Thanks to Autobase-Aichi we know that AnicomiMax, a distributor of digital content in Japan, revealed in a tweet that Beast Wars Neo will be released in a DVD Box set which will be available on the 26 September 2012 in Japan.

FINALLY! At long last, it's FINALLY put on DVD for the first time since its original broadcast 13 years ago!
I don't care that this is a Japanese domestic release and not a U.S. release with English subtitles! And I don't care that the series is supposed to be not very good. Just the fact that it's finally on DVD period is a moment for the history books!

Again, I'm hoping these would be included, not that it's mandatory.

You call this badly-animated?kary wrote:Also considering how badly animated both Beast Wars II and Neo are, I honestly couldn't care less if they were released domestically. The stories make Micron Legends look like a hollywood blockbuster. It's just that bad.
It hasn't so far with the Beast Wars II DVDs that came out last year.RhA wrote:Subtitles or not, the internet will find a way.
I wouldn't hold your breath. Domestically-released Japanese DVDs of TV shows do not have subtitles in English.necr0blivion wrote:JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:necr0blivion wrote:Let's hope English subtitles are available on the release!

And even if there were English subs, would you be able to afford import prices of what's probably gonna be at least an eight disc DVD set?

Well from what clips I've seen of BWII and BWN, sometimes they look horrid (I'm guessing this is when the Korean studios are at work... ), but other times they look amazing, the Neo intro being a good example.
I guess it is like Armada and Energon in that sense, when it looks bad it looks real bad, but when it looks good it looks real good.
Man, what I'd give for another traditionally animated TFers show, like, TFP's amazing and all, but still it ain't the same...

Opening and Ending themes don't count. Go watch the show itself. The animation is horrible. Probably some of the worst I've seen. I have the entire series of Beast Wars Neo on my PC and it's just one big epic fail of a story from beginning to end. Basically BWII and BWNeo was the cheapest solution (and time filler) for Takara to sell their toys off while waiting for Beast Wars S2 and S3 to complete.

As I've said in the past, any and all criticism of BWII and Neo just makes me wanna watch them even more to see for myself.kary wrote:Opening and Ending themes don't count. Go watch the show itself. Just about every Transformer series has found it's way to my living room thanks to the internet.
But I did pay about $200 for all the G1 seasons from Rhino. Those are special to me.

No Shout! Factory G1 DVDs? To me, the new bonus content and remastered original broadcast-accurate video/audio made them worth double-dipping on.Rated X wrote:RhA wrote:Subtitles or not, the internet will find a way.

Reading that long epic in one sitting can be hazardous to your sanity.
Yeah, I did it. It wasn't fun.
Masterforce was excellent. Cybertron/Galaxy Force was also pretty good.Lord Onixprime wrote:OF course it is a horrible story. How many Japanese TF series have had excellent stories?
