The whole Acid Storm thing confuses me. Where in print is that MP11A? I can't find a single pic of it on the box at any angle. But USA Editions are in and of themselves Hasbro exclusives that Takara never released as part of their domestic Japanese retail lines. Having them imported in the first place was the only way to get them in Japan, regardless of who did the importing.william-james88 wrote:If Takara distributed him at retail then I dont count him as a Hasbro exclusive. I am looking for both company and regional exclusives. My main point in all this is to know which molds didnt get to Japan, like that I can show how lucky we have been the next time someone whines that Takara always gets new molds and better stuff. I think it is a very important disctinction when talking about exclusives. And what I want to know is which toys a Japanese fan would not have been able to get in stores at Japan retail. I would assume that since Hasbro is not allowed to distribute in Japan then saying Hasbro exclusive would be enough, but I guess it isnt here.

No, the Takara and Hasbro Sunstorms have totally different deco. And dont worry about being too mental. I mean you already arent owning all those Australia MP releases where the instructions and bios are in english right?

As for the Aussie instructions, nope. They're inside the boxes and I wouldn't open them so that doesn't hit my radar.... but this 11A actually says so on the box... erg...

And it's possible that Titanium The Fallen might've been imported to Japan by Tomy Direct.
You are correct about the rest, though.
For further reference, the Wiki's USA Edition article has way more info on both USA Editions and other imported Hasbro figures than I ever realized it did.

It's that simple."

I was smart enough to buy mine from BBTS some years ago when it was on sale at 100$US + shipping. And that was at the time when our Canadian dollar was worth a few cents above 1$US. Plus no customs fee somehow!
And now, holy crap these prices!

Japan got the original Energon version of that mold. It's just the new arm and head tooling for the Platinum that they haven't gotten.-Kanrabat- wrote:Platinum Omega Supreme is a Hasbro exclusive I think and so far, he's pretty much the Defenitive Generations Omega Supreme.

Yeah, of course. But still, that's a new moldings that is pretty significant. A Japanese must had paid a pretty premium price just to import one.

I agree, but that adds an extra wrinkle. That is molding exclusive to Hasbro but it is also a Hasbro exclusive toy. Meaning it wasnt a standard retail release. It wasnt just japan that had to pay to import it but any non american.

Which is bizarre, considering they did release a Combiner Wars Optimus repaint... as Nemesis Prime/Grand Scourge/whatever that abomination of storytelling wants to call himself. And yet, he doesn't have the Battle Core tooling - the new head, which is as ironic as Crosscut considering the new head is a reference to a Japan-only toy; Star Convoy.
Also Legends Groove as, uh, Groove. I know they later recoloured and released him as an obscure character in Adventure - which is weirdly enough where they dump a lot of Generations Legends figures they don't want - but they never got him as Groove. Which is a shame, because I honestly feel Legends Groove is a really cool little figure and a perfect addition to Defensor.

Grand Scourge didn't have the Battle Core OP tooling because it came out in Japan before Battle Core OP came out in the West.Kurona wrote:Battle Core Optimus is another one they never got.

But there's still a chance for the Battle Core OP tooling to come out in Japan since, while Hasbro is ending Combiner Wars to replace it with Titans Return, there are currently no signs of Takara ending Unite Warriors just yet as it's a separate line from Legends.
They didn't need Legends class Groove as Groove since Deluxe class Groove made Legends class Groove as Groove a redundancy.Kurona wrote:Also Legends Groove as, uh, Groove. I'm not sure what they could use Battle Core for, though. But hey, if we can get a Bluestreak out of it...
And yeah I realise why they didn't get Legends Groove, just stating that they didn't. They annoyingly seem to excise the legends figures entirely from UW.

Cuz G1 Scramble City combiners had five components, not six (barring the Seacons).Kurona wrote:They annoyingly seem to excise the legends figures entirely from UW.
Using a tiny Groove as a chestplate instead of a normal-sized Groove as a limb is "incorrect" to the Japanese.
