Agamemnon wrote:I was going to say this about Rodimus Prime (Titanium), Soundwave (Titanium and Cybertron), and Shockwave (DotM and Energon? Shockblast seemed an homage to Shockwave, though not a direct update). Are you considering the minicon Sky Lynx an update? I'm not sure I'd consider any minicon an update....
The exact words of the Tweet were "Three are seeing their first updates ever". The word "ever" means that these three have NEVER seen the light of day since their original debuts. The word "their" is referring to the characters, not the toy molds, since they use the word "character" in other Tweets regarding these three.GetRightRobot wrote:Devcon got a toy? Missed that one. More to the point, I believe they are referring to toy molds that have not yet been repurposed/retooled/repainted, not Characters who have never received a toy.

FellintoOblivion wrote:I wonder what they mean by "first update ever"?
Do they mean an original mold that is given some modifications or a character that was never remade in any form since it's first appearance?
Kibble wrote:Here's the clarification:
"When we say "first update ever" we mean a toy that has not gotten, well, an update i.e. 1989's character Longtooth has only seen ONE release"
Covenant wrote:Have the Clones had any updates since the 80's?
And, just to mention, I'd love Longtooth.

Sabrblade wrote:Okay, new Tweets has specified further what they mean by characters who have never ever received an update. Toy reissues, things like Robot Heroes, and recycled names for other characters (who themselves are not meant to be updates of those who they share their names with) don't count as updates. However, if they share a name with an 80s character and ARE meant to be a new version of that character, regardless of being the same person or not, then that does count as an update (an example they use is how Animated Shockwave is an update to G1 Shockwave despite being a different person). Confused yet? Good!![]()
Here's a list of just 1984-1987 G1 guys who might qualify for this.

Afterburner
Fastlane
Cloudraker
Grotusque
Doublecross...
There's more I want to list, but I have to stop now since I gotta get off and go out now. Bye now.

This is the part that has me confused.
What two Transformers share a name but aren't supposed to be the same character? I'm assuming it's probably some less popular secondary character or something because every Prowl or Ratchet I have ever seen is supposed to be "Prowl" and "Ratchet".

Cooter wrote:Has anyone mentioned Dion yet? Could be some UK characters like Impactor or Xxaron, tryin to cover as much ground as I can. thinking though the Marvel comics run from the 80's since IDW will be picking that up and running with it to promote it in a way. Springer hasn't had an update, has he? Even better "Last Stand of the Wreckers" set, but that would be too current.
Covenant wrote:Now see, that sounds kid-like to me. 'I wanna see it now! Show me now! I don't WANNA wait!' Building suspense, creating hype, teasing a future product to the consumer base are all very adult, practical and valid things.
